FRENCH 8 POUNDER CANNONBALL USED AS A CLOCK WEIGHT This French 8 pounder cannonball was used as a large clock weight& dates back to the 1700’s when French 8 pounders were still being used. It is a cannonball not just a round weight as it does not have a mold seam& is completely round. Clock weights are not this well cast& finished! It was altered by attaching a 5/8” long iron arm on to the top of the ball to attach a chain to. It looks like it was a relic of some battle as there is some pitting. Several dings where it hit something hard when fired& has a dark brown patina. The clock that required an 8 pounder ball must have been quite large, possibly from a clock tower at a good guess! I was going to remove the arm& add it to my collection of cannonballs but this is a unique historical artifact! Anti que French alarm carriage clock from the late 1800's from my fa thers collection. This clock is in near perfect condition for its age. There are a few very small chips in the glass corners that are h ardly noticeable. The faceplate is flawless. Comes with original key. It runs and keeps good time. The alarm works as expected. Comes with the original leather carr ying case with front door and a place to keep your key. The case is virtually in perf ect condition as well. Dimension s are approx 5" tall x 3" wide x 2.5"deep. Antique Authentic French Repeater Carriage Brass Bronze Glass Clock 19th Cent
French 19th Century Carriage Clock with Repeater Function in Nice Fully Working Condition There are way too many fakes of the French carriage clocks out there- here is your chance to own a real one. This clock is fully functional- it runs and strikes properly. Also repeater works perfectly. The movement and case look great. Dial does have a tiny hairline crack in the utmost right upper corner- impossible to take a picture of and nearly impossible to see. Also, the handle has a very slight bend, I only noticed that when I took the pictures and realized that it is not completely parallel to the case when it is down(see pictures) This is, of course, easy enough to fix, but it is so slight that I am not sure the fix is needed. I have not timed the clock to see if it keeps the time accurately, but this is, of course, easily adjustable. Pictures ... morespeak for themselves, but do let me know if you have any additional questions. The clock measures 7.25" high(with handle extended up) 3.5" wide and 3.25" deep. Estate Rare Large Heavy 50Lb French MARTI & Co.Marble Shelf Mantle Clock
You are looking at a rare large French marble clock with a"MARTI& Co. movement. Clock's movement is clean and in working condition. Chimes on a gong coil the hours and half hours. This beautiful clock keeps good time. Has an adjustable French original to the clock pendulum with the same numbers as on the movement, and a original winding key. The marble is in very good condition over all. But a piece of the marble bottom back left corner base about 1 1/4" wide x 2 3/8" high was missing and restored, see picture#12. Any other visible what looks like"cracks" on the marble are very solid. They are benign or just natural veins. Clock's case has 7 ornate bronze decors in very good condition. Nice all marble 4" dial face in a 5" bezel is in good very good condition also. Over all this sold"as is" ... moremaybe 100 years old clock is in very nice condition for its age. Clock is 12" high. 6" deep and 18" wide. Very heavy 50Lbs clock is for pickup only. Pair spelter urns ewer pitcher Ansonia? French? clock side decoration
You are bidding on a pair spelter urns. Most likely from late 18th or early 19th century. The urns. Ewers, pitchers looks like French origin, or may be from Ansonia Clock Co, I am not sure about it. Lots of patina. And looks to be original finish on the metal parts. Appx 17 inch tall, and 5-1/2 inch wide. It seems that one of the urns has repair on rear feet, slightly off balance, but holding good, shown in the last picture. Hard to notice, other wise good condition. Usual wear and nicks with age. They are not perfect and I am not making any sort of claims on them, I am not an expert on these items, so please ask questions. The clock& the clock topper are not included in the auction. Antique 1880's French Black& Red Marbel Mantel Pedestal Clock Victorian Marked on the dial" Le Boutiller& Co. Union Square, New York" Le Boutiller& Co was a high end retailer/importer of fancy goods for the ultra rich of the Uuion Square area of Manhattan in the Victorian Era. They were close to the original Tiffany's, Reed& Barton and other fancy stores. They sold a lot of items but they also specialized in Marbel Clocks from France. The dial is also red and black marbel and is carved Clock is dated circa 1880- 1890 The clock is a mantle clock but is technically called a pedestal clock because it was used as a base for a statue that went on top of it. That is why the clock has a hole drilled in the top- dead center. I have a nice LARGE antique bronze flame finial that I am willing to give to the winning ... morebidder to put in the hole as an unsecured hole-filler(just sits in the hole- see next to last photo) just ask for it- see photos. Here is an antique French clock compensated pendulum of the"empire" style, of quite fine quality and a rare small size. The detail of the casting is exceptional. And the condition is excellent, including the gilt finish. The overall length is 7 1/4 inches. And the bob diameter is a bit under 2 3/4 inches. Ornate Unmarked Mantle Clock This substantial cast iron clock from the 1930's seems to be American made. And is quite heavy. This piece is in good condition. This clock will run for a short amount of time at times and sometimes the pendulum will keep moving without the hands moving. Most clocks up until WW2 were made of brass and bronze. Because these materials were being used to make war-time machines and weaponry. Most clocks from this period were made of cast iron, wood, cast zinc, aluminum, ect. It is easy to date a fixture such as this, because it is made of wood. The white finish on this piece is in good condition for it's age, but as the photos show it has some inconsistency. This fixture is graced with heavy European influences, and has a lovely patina. The face is original and is in excellent shape. It is classical in style. Modelled in gilt brass and featuring a large urn to the top with acanthus handles with a laurel swag between. A stylised pineapple final sits on top. To the sides are embossed panels of urns surrounded by stylised foliage. The front is polished and mounted with 1/4 spandrels and the clock sits upon hairy paw feet. Candelabra are conforming in style with 3 lights with two arms of acanthus and snuffers that sit in the central nozzle as finials when not in use. The dial is also gilt brass with 12 individual enamel cartouches. It is unusual in having a large cream enamel cartouche to the centre. It is complete with original blued steel ... morehands and convex glass fitted to the egg and dart moulded bezel. The rear door is glazed to allow the movement to be seen. The French movement is by Japy Freres of high quality and is in excellent clean and running condition having been fully overhauled by our clockmaker. Pendulum is a replacement. This is an amazing French Portico All Marble Mantle Clock Set. This clock was made in the 1860's- 1890's in France out of the highest quality marble. And bronze decorations. All the bronze pieces were hand gilded with Gold leaf, and every piece you see on this clock is 100% original to the piece, and in 100% original condition. No one has ever attempted to restore it, or re-finish it, which is a VERY rare find with these clocks. The marble is beautiful with white, pink and grays throughout. All marble pieces are also in amazing condition and 100% original to the clock. Included are the two original urns for the clock, there is some stress damage to the bottom most and top most metal pieces from 120+ years of being used, but there solid(See pictures) You usually do not see the original garnets with one of these clocks, most of the ... moretime during the years the clock becomes separated with it's urns, or the urns get destroyed. But these are the original matches to this clock, both marked underneath in the marble with the phrase"Made in France" in the same writing as the clock. One urn has a small crack in the small topmost piece of marble, it's stable, and unnoticeable. The clock itself is absolutely amazing, with 6 tall columns of marble, and the portico style free swinging pendulum in the shape of a basket of fruit, which matches perfectly with the other baskets of fruit on both the urns, and the clock itself. There are two gilded trays on each side of the dial, in beautiful condition, a unique and expensive feature for these clocks. Stings of garland string from one side to the other in the middle of the clock with beautiful gold gilding. Antique lot of mostly French made clock pendulums and bobs
This auction is for a lot of antique pendulums and pendulum parts mostly for French made shelf or mantle clocks as shown. The most interesting piece is an Ellicot compensating pendulum shown on the very left. These pendulums are very hard to find and were used in only the most expensive French movements(like visible/ruby palleted escapements etc. where precision and exact timing was important.
