Beautiful French Antique Medaille de Bronze - S. Marti Mantel Clock - Late 1800s
For sale is a beautiful French Mantel Clock by Samuel Marti- Medaille de Bronze that refers to the period 1867- 1889 The movement and original pendulum are both incised with matching low production serial number 152c The clock is in perfect working condition and all the parts are original from that time. The clock weight approximately 22 pounds and it measures 16" in height. 4 3/4" in width and 8 3/4" lenght. I don't know. But I think it might need some minor adjustment on the movement, when winding with the key it works perfect, it has been inside a box wrapped for over 5 years, but I'm not a clock expert, it might not need any adjustment, but if it does I don't think is nothing major as the clock functions fine when wind with the key. You are looking at an Antique French Two-Toned Marble L. Marti et Cie Medaille De Bronze Clock. The back of the movement has two logos. A large logo with a lion and two letters, LB” and another that has“L. Marti et Cie” in the middle of the circle and“Medaille De Bronze” around the edge. The two numbers on top are“5 7” On the bottom, 729 1567” This is a very large clock. Almost 20 inches wide, 13.75 inches in height, 7 inches deep, and 57 pounds. All approximate. This is a two-toned marble case. Black and a combination of maroon and white, with a column on each side framing the dial. It has an open movement. A ceramic dial ring for the numbers, with brass housing and brass center of the dial. This clock is well-preserved for its age. At one time, these were made into lamps-but then, converted back into candle holders as you can see fron the wax. They can be taken off the wooden bases by unscrewing the bottom. In 1857 he founded his own firm at 48, rue Mazarin, moving to 7, rue Firu in 1866. His important works, produced after 1870, include those for the church of Mont-Saint-Michel, and for the cathedrals of Saint-Omer, Reims, Moulins and Strasbourg. This substantialy made bronze stand measures 9.5 inches high. 15 x 17 inches at the base, 12 x13.5 at the top. I have pictured it with a modern marble top, which I will include if requested. An image just below the clock depicts a man who is meeting the acquaintance of a young woman as was customary during the 18 th century. Furthermore there are four support columns that are decoratively painted in a baby blue fashion background with a homestead prominently featured. Overall the clock is in terrific condition given its age. There are light and slight marks on some of the porcelain columns. There are no cracks or crazing in the clock face. However. There are slight blue marks near the top of the clock and a hint of yellowing near the wind up key hole. Also some of the numbers are lightly faded. The painted bronze ... moredoes have some signs of wear. Please note the cherubs are a little loose. This piece measures 21 inches tall by 13 ¼ inches wide(base measurement) by 9 inches wide(pillar to pillar) by 6 inches deep. Please note that there is no key with clock and the two garniture pieces are not with the clock. The clock mechanism has been tested using a separate key. ANTIQUE French Garniture Mantle Clock Set 1800's Bronze Brass Marked Dostal Key This is a beautiful set. Incredibly heavy and ornate, in need of a little TLC. The exterior is either bronze or brass and at one time had been all gilded. When I purchased it, it looked rough and someone had tried to polish it with brass cleaner. My goal was to remove all the dried up brass cleaner and have it regilded. Unfortunately, I had no time or money to get this done. It has sat in the garage just begging to be fixed up. It's also missing a spear or sword on the cherub. It measures 22 inches high by 11 inches wide by 6 inches deep. It has an enamel face which is in a very clean condition with no major chips or cracks. There is some minor wear to the inside portion of the holes where the key went. The hammer to the bell has been resoldered at some ... morepoint. There are some holes on the back of the candelabras which may suggest they had armatures to each, or not. Just disclosing all I can find. The underside of the clock is marked with"DostaI 351" and on the back of the clock mechanism I see a 3 and a 5. Each candelabra is marked"C.D. 351" confirming this is a matched set. It's currently working, a beautiful bell strike on the hour and half hour. But I haven't been able to get any clocks to ship and work at the destination, so consider it in need of a"tuning" when you receive it. This is an extremely heavy set and will cost quite a bit to ship. My shipping estimate won't cover it all since it will need to be shipped in separate boxes. My first thought is that it is from a French maker at the turn of the twentieth century but there are no markings and any help appreciated. The design is really beautiful with bronze overlay of Japanese Iris on a pink foil enamel background. The reticulated design continues around the sides. The box holds two opalescent glass ink pots. There is an opening for another container-probably a sand shaker. This piece measures 2" high. 4 3/4" long and 2 3/4" wide. A nice rolled gold ... moreand mother-of-pearl pen is included. The ink stand is in very good estate condition with no damage or repairs found. The metal seems to have had a gilded or coppered finish which is worn to a nice natural patina. a stunning french inkwell. The base i believe is marlbe. In very nice condition, no chips or cracks. the swan is possibly spelter with bronze and the little inkwell is cute and is in art deco design. so i presume in the art deco era base measures 32cm x 14cm. Most of the items i sell are vintage and antique so its very hard to be 100% accurate with the description. There will always be tiny flaws that people might find, because of this i try to attach a lot of photos, but when marking item description on my stars please try to remember that invariably something with age to it will have imperfections some of which are hard to accurately describe having said this pls contact if you are unhappy and i always endeavour to please SO PLEASE REMEMBER THAT THESE ITEMS WILL NOT BE PRISTINE UNLESS I SAY IT IS

This incredible Hellenistic Revival timepiece measures a whopping 18 1/8" wide X 17" tall X 5 1/4" deep. And weighs 18 pounds, 9 ounces. The 4" hand painted porcelain dial front is marked"Manoah Rhodes& Son- Bradford" No hairlines. Nicking, paint losses or other flaws to the dial are present. The shimmering bronze white metal sculpture retains it's glorious original ormolu gold finish. The pastoral themed sculpture depicts a woodland nymph with two doves. Masterly cast with an eye for the most minute details. Boulle inlay swags& lion-head details cast in dore bronze highlight the undulating white alabaster ... morebase. The very finest clock movement of the day is well complimented here by an unspeakably beautiful figural statue at the top. The back of the clock case is marked“12-P.H. MOUREY- 72" For Phillipe H. Mourey(1840-1910) who was a celebrated and gifted French sculptor, famous for designing clock cases in 19th century France. Japy Frères used his cases on their finest offerings& their association is well known. The numbers after his name note the year the case was made. In this case“72” for 1872. The movement is marked"163-34431" and"JAPY FRERES& CIE GRD MED. D’HONN EXPn 1855” This delightful chiming movement won the Grand Medal of Honor at the Expo Universelle Paris in 1855. The movement is an 8 day time and strike affair. Which strikes with a dainty timbre on the hour& 1/2 hour. As you you note. This most opulent Napoleon III Era home furnishing remains in uncannily immaculate condition. The movement is fully functioning in every respect and keeps excellent time. VINTAGE ANTIQUE 19TH CENTURY FRANCE FRENCH BRONZE MARBLE CLOCK PH MOUREY FRERES
Up for auction is a truly stunning vintage mantel or shelf clock. Made in the late 1800's in Paris France. This bronze and marble bound clock was designed by P.H. Mourey, who worked with the Japy Freres clock company to produce beautiful timepieces. We believe this clock is from the 1870's. Don't miss out on this gorgeous piece at no reserve! We were not able to get the clock running. But the interior mechanisms look good and the clock does wind up properly. It will need a professional looking at to run at 100% but it looks like it should be a fairly simple fix. The clock and figures are in overall great condition. There are two splits in the marble, as pictured below. One is on the base of the item, another is a hairline crack on the backside. These are not glaringly obvious flaws. The clock measures approximately 22.5" ... moreinches in height from the base to the top of the woman's head. It measures 10.5" in width. And 7" in depth from front to back. It weighs 22 lbs.
