This is a wonderful French Porcelain figurine of a couple dancing and Putti's watching over them. There is a French saying on the plaque the putti's are holding which has to do with love and a lifetime. The colors of the figurine are all hand painted in pastel colors(yellow. Pink, gray, purple, blue, green) The only damage to the figurine is the putti on the left of the plaque has a right wing repair(see pic 10) Measurements are 6 3/4" length, 8 1/4" height and 4"width. These lamps are gorgeous! The cut and etched crystal design is really pretty and of great quality.This lamps really pick up the light so be sure at put them in a spot where the sun hits them! Don't hide them in a corner. They are hand signed in etching"DRESDEN" I purchased these years ago at an estate sale held at a beautiful home. They worked really well over the years with different decorating vignettes that I done. At once time they were in our library with leather furniture and Oriental rugs and until just recently in my formal living room that is done in cream and black. They were fabulous! We're now downing sizing and moving back to California and plan to decorate in a less formal style because of the Grand kids. If you have priced good lamps lately you know that a good lamp will cost you over $200.00 a piece and they ... morewon't be as pretty and timeless as these. My grandmother used to say a if a piece is a good piece the artist will take the time to sign it. So even to this day when I shop at flea markets I always look for the signed pieces and that rule as never failed me. I don't know anything about Dresden Crystal but someone took the time to sign them! The brass has some age spots. Most likely removable with a good brass cleaner/polish(which I am out of) Overall height including harp and finial(which are the originals) is 33" Glass globes measure 12" tall by appx 3 1/4" diameter on bases measuring 8" across. Very heavy weight of these lamps dictates high shipping cost. Which, unfortunately, is unavoidable. Due to the fragile nature of crystal, I would prefer to ship each lamp separately. This stunningly detailed Meissen figurine measures just about 6.5 inches tall. But it is packed with fine detail. There is some damage on this figurine the first is a chip in her hat right in the center. The are also some very small chips on the base. Lastly. There are chips on both sets of cards shes holding. I love the sweet facial expression on the little woman card dealer. And all of the meticulously painted details on her dress. She is standing in front of a tripod table where her deck of cards is laid out. The delicate workmanship is just wonderful. There's even faux-marble painting on the little tabletop! The lady wears soft Easter colors: a bustled overdress of thistle-blossom pink and an underdress with Easter yellow and blue stripes, all decorated with delicate white lace. Her beautiful Rococo-styled high heel shoes are blue ... morewith gilt flowers. This Meissen design was first modelled by Michel Victor Acier with the help of Johann Carl Schönheit in 1776. Overall condition on all plates is very good with chips or cracks to make note of however one plate has a minor nibble to the base rim. I've posted a picture so take a look. I have up for auction this evening an exquisite reticulated cabinet plate from the studios of Karl Richard Klemm of dresden Germany. This gorgeous plate has everything you want to see in a piece of this type. The porcelain is of very high quality and probably Meissen but may have been made by another fine maker from that time period. The eight sided mold is very nice and the depth is pleasing to the eye as well. The reticulated rim makes this a very special piece and the hand painted Dresden flowers put it over the top as an exceptional piece of Dresden design by an outstanding design studio. To finish the presentation off the trim elements including the punch out reticulated rim are accented in high quality gold. This is a very fine piece and would make a great addition to any collection of high end porcelain. Rare to find in this condition ... moreas well. SCHUMANN BAVARIA GERMANY US ZONE DRESDEN "Empress" PLATE (1945-9) w/GOLD VERGE
An UNUSED CONDITION SCHUMANN BAVARIAN DINNER PLATE VINTAGE AUTHENTIC GERMANY US ZONE DRESDEN FLOWER DESIGN"EMPRESS" PATTERN(1945-1949) NO FADING COLORS. NO CHECKING, NO CHIPS, NO CRACKS, NO CRAZING My wife has had these for colorful display in our China Hutch since we acquired them from our then 82 year old neighbor in 1973. They have never been used and have never seen the inside of a dishwasher. But they do have a few minor scratches from dusting cloths and isolated very light scuff or two from the bottom rim of a plate sitting on them all these years. Along the lower plate inner edge. These are not visible to the naked eye unless examined closely in high intensity reflected light. Some very light edge rubbing in the gold verge from handling. We have had a few earthquakes over the span of 40 years and moved twice but still basically ... morelike new with stunning vibrant colors with generous Gold Detailing over all of these Dresden Vintage EMPRESS pattern plates. Don't know the purity of the gold verge but most likely 20-22kt. Heavily banded gold around the entire scalloped plate edge. Unsure of how the artwork was hand-painted onto the plate, whether on decals or right onto the china and then fired over in the kiln. The heat of firing might have caused some separation of paint on the flowers, but you have to use high magnification to see this. I have attempted to put some large size closeups of the actual plate on auction for your inspection. While not NEW plates nor absolutely Mint perfect. It is very difficult to see any noticeable imperfections from the factory in the way they were hand painted and kiln-fired back in Post War Germany. These US Zone pieces were apparently produced during 1945- 1949 in US occupied Germany. I am not an expert on vintage China or Porcelain dinnerware. All that I can and am offering for information is what I found on various reliable sites on the Worldwide web. She is offering her bread and runny jam to a well clothed rabbit. The bunny looks surprised. Please look closely at all the pictures. The rabbits outfit is coordinated with the little girls.
