Base 11" in diameter. Floral decoration is about 5" wide X 6" tall. The blue floral decoration has dots and circles. Condition: This crock is being sold AS IS. This is a solid crock but it has issues. Large Blue decoration has excellent dark cobalt blue color but has a chip at the top branch. Shown in picture 2. There is a large chip at the rim above the ear handle, picture 8. The same ear handle has a chip underneath the handle, shown in the same picture. On the outside, there is a spider hairline that starts on the bottom and runs up the side, see close-up picture in picture 5, 10& 11. I would not trust this crock to hold water. There is one small chip in the dark brown glaze on the inside, last picture. Picture 5 shows a raised dark spot on the outside which appears to be from the manufacturing process. See all pictures. The large blue flower decoration has excellent dark cobalt blue color. This collectible crock is great to use in a decorative decor. Please check out my other auctions for more vintage items.

What Hadley Pottery collector's fireplace or kitchen would be complete without this match holder crock? This piece has a base color done in a white glaze and seems to be the bluette design. But has a bit of green accent on the lid and a little bit of earth tone accents on the crock itself. Lg. Early ANTIQUE REDWARE Stoneware OVOID CROCK Jar Jug Incised- RARE Handles This listing is for an early antique stoneware redware ovoid shape handled crock or storage jar with primitive. Out of round form. The handles on this crock are very unusual and rare. They look to be formed or pulled from the piece. Rather than applied as is commonly seen. The crock is indented, creating a recess behind each handle that allows for carrying. The handles are joined to the main body of the crock on each end. They have an arched shape that makes them easy and comfortable to hold on to. It seems to be an ingenious design. Yet I have not seen this type of handle before. And cannot find another example in any of the American stoneware pottery books. This utilitarian crock or jar was given some beautiful decorative touches with both incised and raised banding ... morearound the body of the piece. At the mouth. There is a rolled rim with two incised bands beneath. In the middle, at handle height, the crock has four raised bands that encircle it at the widest point. The glaze on this jar is stunning. With a wide range of color. There are shapes formed by the glaze that look almost like letters, perhaps a mark of some sort? Or maybe just a happy accident. I believe this piece is quite old. Dating to the early to mid 19 th century. Possibly even the late 18 th century. Though I don’t know the exact age. It measures approx. 12” tall and 12” across the widest point. The mouth is approx. 8-8 ½” across and the base measures 6 ¼” in diameter. The handles are approx. 3 ¼” long x ½” thick. The jar is in very good antique condition. It has appropriate wear for a utilitarian pottery piece of this age. The piece has no cracks or other structural damage. The lip of the crock shows a fair amount of age related wear. Most of the wear is superficial only. With a number of areas where the glaze has flaked or chipped off, but there are just a couple of shallow surface chips as well(please see pictures. Clarke& Co began in 1865 and was the only company in the drug trade located on the West Coast at that time; their company has some very interesting history. Unfortunately cracks and chips have adorned this jug throughout it's years but it's still a very unique piece. The lettering is in the cobalt blue. I'm sure a restorer could do some work on it but it would only take away it's charm and possibly some of it's value. This one is crack and damage repair free, but does show some bottom edge chippers in pics# 10& 12. Number 11 shows a factory clay dimple. Always allow for stoneware glaze skips. And glaze runs which are possible. This one does have a noticeable skip by the"5" Piece rings very well. The block letters are unique also as this changed shortly after this period also. This is a fabulous Ice Tea. Lemonade, Kool Aid, crock! Itis made by the Gold Medal Products Company as you can see is stamped on the front of the crock. It has the original spout which DOES NOT leak as I have used it for ice tea and has sat on my counter without leaking for several days at a time. It has the crock lid which has a couple of chips on the underneath side so is not noticeable at all from the top. See photos. This item weighs approximately 12 pounds and measures approximately 11” tall and is 8 ½” wide at the base. The spout sticks out approximately 3” and is chrome. Take a GOOD look at the photos. It measures 20 5/8" tall 17" in diameter and weighs 60.9 lbs unpacked. Condition I beleive the crock to be in very good Condition. It has no nicks. Chips, or repairs that I can see and overall for vintage is what I would call it near mint. Its needs a cleaning as never used it but rather just decoration in my house. Decorated with spread winged eagle clutching a banner in its beak with Eagle Pottery on it and with laurel branches and arrows clutched in talons, above 3, all hand done with blue cobalt stencil.
