This is a nice doorstop that I have used for many years but now she needs a new home. There's a few small chips on the front and some light rust on the lower back but all in all this doorstop is in better than good condition. It is 12.5" tall and 7.25" wide at the base and 2.75" deep at the base and she sits flat to the door; She's heavy at almost 4 LBS. s he needs a good home. But the n umber"1248" is stamped on the inside. Consistent with other Hubley cast iron cats. The 4-lb. cat is just over 10" long. 5" at its widest, and 5.5" tall. It was cast in 2 pieces and is held together by long screws that are anchored on the inside of the front half. Run through the hollow center. And have a screw head visible on the back side of the cat. Overall. The metal is sound and in good condition. The black finish appears to have oxidized away a t some of the low points in the cat's fur. There is one tiny hole in the cat's right lip(do cats have lips? and one on the lowe r edge near the bac k(see photos) T here ... moreis some rust on the inside. Up for bid is another great recent estate find. This is a vintage black cast iron Cricket Beetle Doorstop or Boot Scraper. It measures 9" in length and 4 1/2" at the widest points. It is a fine quality and great detail. The underside base has the number 4. and numbers 669 incised.See photos# 5.6) There is no makers name so the exact vintage and origin are unknown. It weighs 1 lb and 11 oz. It would make a great doorstop. There is a hole in the lower portion so it could even be hung for display. Don't let this decorative and useful cast iron cricket get away. Many Hubley toys are now sought-after collectibles. History. The Hubley Manufacturing Company was first incorporated in 1894 in Lancaster. Pennsylvania by John Hubley. There is some wear on the bottom(photo 6) I have not cleaned this doorstop and am selling it as I found it. I think it has a nice antique charm as it is.
