Vintage Antique Wooden Sawbuck Pack Saddle Old Nebraska Homestead Find Primitive
This old rustic sawbuck pack saddle was purchased from a gentleman who bought it years ago at a Nebraska farm estate sale. He believed it came to Nebraska with homesteaders coming to start a new life on the prairie. I am certainly not an expert on these things but it has a nice primitive look. It is not as sturdy as when it was built but it is not falling apart. There is obvious age and wear and one of the flat panels has pulled away perhaps 1/2" from the cross pieces. I have not attempted to tap it back into place. This is about 17" long. About 10 1/2" tall, and about 15" across. This will make a nice addition to country primitive or cabin decor. The Cachet Machine was invented in France at the end of the 18th Century. The process of making cachets was considered to have been a pharmacy sophistication. Leaving each dish with just the edge gummed. A second flap(of holes) was flipped over the gummed dishes. The second flap is raised clear again and second rice paper dish is placed over the first, rims touching. As the third hinged plate is pressed down over the domed cachet lids, a tight seal is made. 1905 Original Vintage Antique Wooden Bathroom Medicine Cabinet Beveled Mirror
Up for sale is an Original Vintage Beveled Glass Mirror Wooden Medicine Cabinet in great condition that I took out of my house that was buildt in 1905. I believe it was the original cabinet in the house when buildt in 1905. Look at the sawtooth shelf brackets inside, that is defenitly turn of the century craftsmanship that is never seen since. I left it in its original condition, it looks like it has had a few coats of paint over the years, it has a few chips and scratches on it so before i'd use it i'd probably put one more coat on it, but I left it as I found to be at the new owners discresion as to what he would want to do with it. The beveled glass mirror has that typical beutiful old mirror patina that cannot be duplicated, that makes it perfect for you old house bathroom,the right upper corner(shown in one of the photos) has ... morea little typical black streaking in the glass. It has the original three shelfs that came with it. It appears to have all of its original hardware, it had a key lock handle on it but I do not have its key, but im sure if you wanted one it could easily be matched up. The picture it could be older than vintage and it has come down through the family but we are not sure of its exact age. The wooden panel measures 19 x 29 x 1.2cm approximately and depicts an elderly wise Oriental gentleman with his elaborate robes and a young boy. Both holding Chinese Lotus in their hands. It seems the little boy is offering the Lotus or the other way around, the elderly gentleman offering to the boy, not sure, I am sure though there is meaning to that. The wooden panel is lightish colour with some strikes to it and have not idea of what type of wood it is. The stones which are carved look like some kind of agates, one particular on the robes looks like jasper and are inlaid into ... morethe wood. Here we have a really killer antique wooden factory mold. I'm not sure what this mold was used in the manufacturing of but it has a great look and is displayed on a copper rod. Here is a very old musical instrument that I cannot identify. Perhaps an old wooden chanter for bagpipes. Or snake charmer's flute? This should be of interest to the musicologist/collector. It is about 13" long, made of turned wood with old black stain/paint. The pictures will show it has 8 bored finger holes each with metal reeds, a metal band around one end; a turned bell at the other. It sounds somewhat like a harmonica. I don't know if it is missing a mouthpiece or some other parts. It appears to be jointed at one point but I cannot pull it apart. You can make out the Flyer name and the sweet airplane on the non- drive side of the tool tank. On this bike there are a couple of items that don't quite fit together. This flyer has the New Departure Model A rear coaster brake(20's) But it has a Wards Hawthorne headbadge, the M over the W without wings or the picture of Hermes. This also has a chainguard that is not quite appropriate- the multi holed version sometimes seen on the aluminum bikes by Silver King. The crank is ... morealso a design more common to the mid 1930's- still skiptooth, but no necessarily 1920's. Color- was red with white details and diamonds. The paint is now turned brown and has lots of rust. Quite a bit of the white has faded out. Especially on the, well everywhere on the bike. Tank is all there, and you can see the original red color on the inside. There are the standard dents on the front of the tank from the fork truss rods. Small. The rims are chromium(or nickel) plated metal clad wooden 28" wheels. Almost straight but definitely usable. No shiny finish. And probably won't be able to bring this one back as there's lots of rust on them. The fenders are probably not stock. They are red and have a stepped profile. But not quite the right era. Chainguard also was placed on the bike after, probably same time as the fenders. Most likely built by H.P. Snyder- notice the short lugs on the crank hanger(bb) Excellent project project bike. Seal of the state of New Hampshire 1776. The seal is not complete, this is all I could make out. The smallest weight is missing. The weights are engraved on the top as follows- kilo(this one is also marked Z-1 HV? City I believe) 1 lb avd, 8 oz avd, 2 oz avd, 1 oz avd, 1/2, 1/4. There are use marks and some tarnishing. The wooden holder measures 8 1/8" long by 4" wide, and just under 2 1/2" high. The wooden holder has quite a few use marks, see the 9th picture.

Also says"Four Jewels" on the clock face right under where the hands attach. Has some minor scratches here and there(be sure to examine the photos carefully for cosmetic condition) but seems to be in pretty good shape over all. I'm not sure about the age. But there is a part of a label on the bottom that reads, Established 1813"but I'm not a clock expert so I have no idea if that is when it was made or if it's telling the history of when Seth Thomas clocks were established.there is too much of this label missing to get proper information from it. Then the wooden patterns where removed& molton metal was poured into the sand impression& allowed to cool to form the cast iron or aluminum part. It took a real craftsman to make these patterns. Pattern making is pretty much a lost art today. There are very few pattern makers left. Today most parts are made out of steel by computer guided machines. ANTIQUE LARGE WOODEN ARMOIRE. LIGHT BROWN/BLONDE*NICE PIECE* This is a Large Antique Wooden Armoire. The finish on the outside is in FAIR CONDITION. The front of the doors show rippling from moisture and/or drying out. The wood and finish on the inside are in EXCELLENT CONDITION. As are the sides. The finish is a nice Light Brown/Blonde color. The armoire measures 70"H x 48"W x 24"D. The armoire has two swinging front doors with latches. Inside, there is a shelf and two racks. There are no discernible markings to indicate origin or age, but it is probably from the early-to-mid 1900s. This piece is from my late mother's estate. With a little TLC to refinish the doors, this would make a wonderful collector's piece or, of course, a great vintage armoire in your home! RARE ANTIQUE WOODEN WOOD HAND MIRROR WITH ENAMEL FACE CIRCA 1885
A large estate collection of antique wooden hand mirrors will be auctioned off over the next few weeks. This rare hand mirror is the second mirror being offered from this collection. It is a very lovely antique vanity mirror that is well over 100 years old. But retains its original beauty. The enamel workmanship is truely excellent. The photos really don't do it justice.
