It measures 6" in height and 4" diameter at the base of the glass bottom and 6" in diameter at the middle fatter portion of the glass. Antique 19th Century MISSION Victorian Brass & Cut Glass OIL LAMP Font NICE
I was told this is an antique whale oil lamp font. It looks like one of those old french oil lamps to me. I'm not a lamp expert! It measures 5" tall from where the burner screws on to the bottom. It is 3 1/2" diameter across the bottom. The brass and the glass are quite heavy and the diamond pattern has been cut into the glass. Not pressed. The glass is perfect with no cracks or chips or scratches. The brass has some tarnish on it, but hey, it's old. The part that the burner screws onto is exactly 1" outside diameter. It has 2 numbers on the glass on the bottom, or a symbol and a number. The first number or symbol is unreadable because the glass design cuts into it. Antique Mini Oil / Whale Oil Hanging Wall Lamp / ? English / Milkglass Globe
Unusual antique wall lamp. The receptacle for oil is small. So it could be whale oil? It is domed shaped and has a lion finial. A long thin tube extends from the mouth of the lion in an exaggerated swoop down and up again. At the end of the tube are metal brackets that hold the white milkg lass globe in place. This lamp is made to hang on the wall. No wick. This piece is unmarked but does have characteristics of possibly being English. It stands 6 1/2" tall at the highest point and 5 1/2" deep. Very good overall condition with a slight dent at the bottom swoop of the oil tube. Quite a unique piece for the collector who seeks unusual examples of early lighting. Gorham Silver plate oil lamp antique vintage collectible hand blown glass globe
You are looking at a beautiful old oil lamp. One more item I have found packed away in a box I inherited from my grandmother. It is in great condition. It was kind of tarnished up when I unwrapped it but has polished up unbelievably beautiful. I am not sure if the glass globe is hand blown or not. It is in perfect condition with one very very faint scratch on the glass that you have to hold up to the light to see. It has a cut glass design on it of slash marks that go back and forth and then goes to a straight cut with a little ball on the end that goes up the glass. On the round stem piece it states made in USA Thomaston Conn. I believe it is probably in perfect working order however it will need a wick. Beautiful old vtg banquet style gwtw oil lamp. The lamp and globe are both painted front and back. The flowers are handpainted soft pink and rose shades w/ green leaves and stems. It measures 26" tall to top of chimney. The base is a heavy brass and beautifully ornate. The oil pot is all intact. Stamped Rayo, and dated 2-28-1905. Even the knob to monitor flame is stamped made in"US of America. This lamp has not been converted, all original. Antique hand- decorated Phoenix 880 electrified-oil lamp
Antique Phoenix 880 hand-painted base and globe. This was originally an oil lightand was converted to electricity I believe in the 1950's. It does not have any cracks or chips that I could find. The top and bottom edges of the globe. Or shade, are rough as if hand ground and unpolished. The switch comes in at the middle of the light and I believe this should be rewired so a smaller switch it comes in near the base. Whoever wired this lamp made it so that both the base and top have light. The light measures 13" high x 6 1/2" wide(base piece) and the top is 9 1/2" in diameter by 8" high. Antique Fostoria GWTW Hand Painted Cosmos Flowers(I believe) Oil Lamp Base Cast iron foot is marked" FG" 617" If there is no bid in the first 24 hours we WILL put a reserve on it or END the auction. This GWTW oil lamp base is in great condition! See all pictures as they are part of our description! It measures approx 10 1/2" to the top of the brass rim. The cast foot is approx 6" square. The widest part of the font is approx 7 1/2" wide(at the two feathery leaf designs sticking out on the sides) The inside of the base. Where an oil pot sits(not included) is 4 3/4" in diameter by 3" deep. The glass base/font is in great shape and the colors include greens. Yellows, pinks and a touch of brown accents. There are some dirty spots and possibly some fading. It might come out nicer with a deeper cleaning and ... morepolishing, but will leave that up to the high bidder. I basically dusted it for pics. There are four seams on this glass font. The foot and the front/back don't line up squarely and you can see this in the first four pictures of the front and sides. There are raised feathery/leafy designs in the glass at the top and bottom edges and on the two sides. The two sides have a slightly different feathery/leafy design. There is also a wide swirled rib pattern in the glass. I believe the flowers are Cosmos flowers. Or something similar. I can see some heavy swirls in the glass. Which adds nice character. There are no cracks on this base. But I do see a chip which is on the rim where the oil pot liner sits, although the liner does not cover this rim very well. It could be possible this is not the original liner. The oil pot liner has some wear and some light surface rust. But that is usual for these old lamps. It is magnetic, so it is not brass. The brass connector between the foot and glass font is not magnetic and in good shape. It does have some wear to the finish. But no cracks. The cast iron foot has a slight rock to it. Antique Sandwich( Finger/ Hand Whale Oil Lamp w/ Applied Handle Mid 1800's If there is no bid in this item in the first 24 hours we reserve the right to end the auction. This is a nice antique hand oil lamp that is in great shape. I did some research on this lamp but was not able to find a maker. I did find similar shaped whale oil lamps in oil lamp books. But am not positive this one is of the same makers. This shape of whale oil lamp is most likely from the mid 1800's. This is considered a"syrup jug shape" and was phased out as use of kerosene approched in the late 1850's. The fact that these basic shapes were never revived is assurance that lamps of these types were not originally produced for burning kerosene. It goes on to say that"kerosene burners would now appear most inappropriate on any of'these' ... morelamps. And yet with the collar size the same as that of kerosene burners, it must have been a familiar sight in the homes of the 1860's to see these lamps equipped with kerosene burners and chimneys, burning the'brilliant and inexpensive new lighting fuel' This hand oil lamp measures approx 4" tall to the top of the collar. The font is approx 3 1/2" in diameter at the widest point which is the base(not including handle) I can see nice air bubbles. Cooling lines, hay marks, swirls and manufacturing flaws, all characteristics of old glass. I do not see any cracks on this oil lamp. There is a chip on the very bottom of the applied handle, where the end was applied with a tool(can be seen in picture 7. It will not hinder its use, its just chipped on the design. It is still attached just fine. I found it by feel, not by looking for it, of course once I felt it, then I could see it. There are some light scratches and wear from years of use. There is a considerable amount of wear to the bottom from years of service. Looks like it was a well liked lamp. There is a smooth pontil. It originally had a central oil lamp with a ring of 9 candles around the perimeter. The oil lamp is now converted to hold an electric bulb. The bronzework on this chandelier is superb. With massive construction and fine Louis XVI styling and details. It is nicely patinated to a medium bronze color and we did not attempt any restoration or polishing. This is a counterweighted chandelier that can be easily adjusted up and down. However, the adjustment chains are short and not much adjustment is presently available(replacing the chains would solve this if additional height adjustment is desired) The wiring and socket are old and in poor condition and must be replaced before use. Up for auction is a small antique Copper Oil or Kerosene Lamp. We believe it could be a carpenters lamp because it was salvaged from an antique carpenters workshop. This is a very unique little tin copper lamp in very nice condition with elaborate handle. It has a screw off top and a long original wick. It is about 4 inches high with a base of almost 3 1/2 inches diameter. It is constructed of tin with a copper finish and is magnetic. The pictures show how the top is soldered internally. The lamp has no dents. Still has original cap and chain and minor rust spots within. The handle appears to have had some sort of attachment on end of handle to stoke the wick because(1) there are remnants of something being there and(2) there is a tiny hole on end of handle/tube. Because the lamp has a threaded brass collar inserted in its glass neck(see the last photo) we believe the lamp was manufactured by the U.S. Glass Co, circa 1911. According to Ann Gilbert MacDonald(Evolution of the Night Lamp" U. S. Glass patented this collar and aggressively protected it's patent, ... moreusing its advertising to warn competitors against infringing upon it. Beginning in 1911, the company promised to use this new improved collar on all of its lamps. The lamp has its name(Handy" embossed across the font in a casual/informal style which looks like the style of lettering used to make the Roman alphabet look Asian. This same lettering is used on the"Little Jewel" lamp(S1-44) which also shares the same style collar as this lamp(thus leading us to believe that both of these lamps were made by U. S. Glass) The Handy lamp is found in clear glass, a pale blue"uranium glass" cobalt and this bright green"Vaseline" glass. We have occasionally seen it in pink glass and have seen some versions which frosted, or painted, and even decorated with a painted flower. Condition of this lamp: This lamp is in excellent condition with no discernible chips. Cracks or other defects. Here is a nice example of an old. About 1920-30s era, miniature mild glass oil lamp. This piece, I believe, is called the Rose Bud pattern and there are not many around; in fact, I found only 2 others on Ebay and none in any of my usual resources. This lamp also retains its original"wavy" glass chimney and top. It needs a new wick. There is no damage to the piece, no chips or cracks in the milk glass, and it is ready to be used. Offered is a lovely miniature oil lamp with hand painted/enameled details. The font has a pink blush at the top. The lamp measures 9-1/2" tall by 4" in width. Unsure of the make of either the lamp or the burner. Has a wick in it that appears to have never been used. No chips. Or cracks noted on inspection- overall a very nice piece. Antique Victorian Duplex Brass Double Student Oil Lamp Electric Original Globes
Hi. You are bidding on the most beautiful lamp. It is a Duplex student oil lamp that was converted to electric. You can see by the cord and plug that it is one of the oldest electric lamps you will ever see. It has been tested and did work when I bought it but the cord is super old. I would get a second opinion before you use the cord. The globes are LOVELY and even more beautiful in person. They are in good condition with no nicks or cracks. The globes measure approximately ten inches across at the bottom and 4.5 inches or so on the top. The entire lamp is 27 inches when measured from base to top of chimneys. I believe the chimneys are also original in that they look like old glass and they are the exact measurements of the original chimneys. One of the chimneys has some roughness around the base where it goes into the metal but it is not ... morechipped. If you collect these antique lamps. I think you are going to love this one. There are problems, but minimal. I see that there is one lamp socket that is sort of tipped to one side. There is some difficulty getting the round base for the chimney into the larger frame for the glass globe. But I think that all of these issues are probably just a part of owning a lamp like this. There is some wear to the gold fleur-de lis of the painted decoration. Not bad at all. It measures 9 3/4" across, stands 6 1/4" high, and the top opening is 4 3/8" across. They have a 3 7/8" or j ust a hair under 4" filter. to fit what the y call a 4" fitting. I believe? The tallest height range is 5 1/2" to 5 6/8" The top flare's widest point across in 9" The circumference around under the ruffle i s 18" If you turn them u pside down and draw around the m. That ruffled circle measures 28" They are a turquoise.to a robin egg blue. Or a light azure blue.
