Wood separations, Sturdy. Very good overall condition, This charming mahogany smokers cabinet was crafted in Victorian England around 1850. The mahogany displays a rich complexion and a highly pronounced grain that have only grown more beautiful with time; the same is true for the exquisite satinwood and ebony inlays that adorn the interior of this piece. The richness of the wood owes to the elaborate finishing process that Victorian cabinetmakers employed in constructing their furniture; there were often over a dozen steps in the finishing process. Which ended with a fine, hand-rubbed coat of wax. Not only does the wax enrich and protect the beauty of the wood, but it is easily maintained for long periods of time: waxing a piece just twice a year will keep it looking new indefinitely. This fine Victorian smokers cabinet is certainly an excellent example of how smart craftsmanship can defy the perils of time. It has. However, sustained some wear, including superficial separations in the wood and a number of scuffs. It has also lost a few knobs on the interior drawers; the small, inner door has also warped so that it doesn't fully shut. Neither do the exterior doors lock. However, none of these details detract from the fundamental beauty and convenience of this piece; instead, they only add to its lovely antique charm. Overall condition is therefore very good: whether used for its original purpose, as a jewelry box, or for storing other small items, this smokers cabinet would make a fine addition to any furniture collection! Antique Victorian Celluloid Dresser/ Glove/ Jewelry Box Very Pretty Celluloid Box. It depits a farm scene with a man and woman working the farm. There are white roses on a blue background on either side and surrounding the rest of the box. The box measures 12 1/2" long x 3 3/4" deep x approx. 3" tall. There is obvious wear at the bottom edges of box. Nothing major. Overall in good condition despite it's age. It is in good vintage condition and has a metal latch hook on the front. The inside of the lid is painted brown and it has a purple velvet liner on the bottom inside. Circa 1875-1900. This box is about 3 3/8" wide X 1 7/8" deep X 7/8" tall. The top and 4 sides are overlaid with a thin veneer of select grained pressed light tan colored wood that is embossed in a 3 dimensional pattern. The 4 sides are embossed in a scrolling leaf pattern with double borders at the top. The top is embossed deeply with a scene of two hunters with a country scene in the background. The top is attached to the base by two small arms that pivot on tiny nails. Note ... morethe top lid curves in front so that it created a lip in the front for opening. There are a few pieces of this very thin veneer missing on the bottom of this piece. But do not show when displayed, and do not hurt the integrity of the piece. Some tan polish would make this discoloration go away and blend in. But I have left this in untouched condition. A charming piece of Folk Art in excellent condition for it's age, I have left it in untouched, as found condition. These are known to have a variety of different scenes/ depictions/ themes on the top, but this one has a scarce and desirable hunting theme. This was used as a table top piece, and so the lid does not fit tightly as a pocket snuff box would have. The box measures- outside(with curved feet) 4 3/4" long x 2 3/4" wide x 1 3/4" high. Inside is 4 1/4" x 2 1/4" x 1 1/4" You'll notice I included a couple of pictures at the end that look entirely different. I was so disgusted when I received this and found that someone had actually painted the outside(NOT the bottom or inside. Although they did put a'splotch' on the inside' The name on the front was barely legible even with a jewelers eye and the intricate details were more of a mesh of color rather than brilliant as they were meant to be. I did some research and talked to my local silversmith about how to remove the paint and try to bring this piece back to some semblance of its prior glory. After using a gentle paint remover meant for precious metals. I carefully removed the paint. Then I used a gentle silver cleaner to remove some of the tarnish. You can see(in the close ups) that there is still some paint left in the intricate details as well as tarnish so. This could use some more gentle cleaning if you, or someone you know, is an expert at this kind of thin

ITEM DESCRIPTION A very unusual and unique item in wonderful warm coffee and brown colors. Crafted with a ton of details and quality craftsmanship in this little box. I am unsure if this was used as a snuff, tea or decorative box. It has a full bar hinge on the back with curved sides, silver color metal band on the front back and bottom and a top that does close and seal nicely, you just push it down and lift up. The top is carved with a slightly raised diamond design on the top. There is wear to the shell and you can tell by how smooth it is that it has been used frequently. It measures 3 3/8" long x 1 3/4" wide x 1" tall. Please note: There is a small hole/ chip on the bottom edge as shown in the fifth photo. Where it appears possibly a nail might have been at one time.
