Antique French Pendulum "Grandfather" Clock by Blondeau
This is a pendulum clock from the first half of the 19th century. It is approximately 91 tall and 19 1/2 inches at its widest. I purchased this clock about seven years ago. It is a wood frame with painted decoration and glass windows. The pendulum and dial are of brass or some type of aluminum alloy. Both show the remnants of enamel paint. The clock is complete and works. The mechanism is solid- presently the weights are not attached. It also comes with what I believe is the original key for winding it. There are a few cosmetic imperfections(see pictures) Its legs need some attention but the base remains stable. The face reads"Blondeau" and"A Desize. Based on this information the clock appears to come from the clockmakers Blondeau Brothers(Blondeau Freres" of Paris. Who were accomplished carriage clock and pocket watch ... moremakers in the 1820s and 1830s. B. Blondeau was the"Horloger du Roi" at the time. Also the Annals of Mines dating to 1820 refers to the Blondeau Brothers as manufacturing metal medallions, probably not unlike the dial decoration and pendulum. THIS IS AN ANTIQUE GRANDFATHER CLOCK MOVEMENT WITH THE ORIGINAL LARGE BRASS DIAL AND WEIGHTS. THE MOVEMENT LOOKS TO BE COMPLETE. IT MAY EVEN WORK BUT WE DO NOT HAVE A PENDULUM TO TEST IT OUT. I DID PUT SOME PRESSURE ON ONE OF THE CHAINS AND THE FLY WHEEL STARTED ROTATING AS ONE SET OF HAMMERS WAS MOVING UP AND DOWN. IT IS MY GUESS THAT IT WOULD NOT TAKE TOO MUCH WORK TO GET IT OPERATIONAL AGAIN. THE ONLY MARKING THAT I FOUND ON THE MOVEMENT IS IN THE 7TH PHOTO. This is an empire style colonial shape grandfather clock that says“Moe 1917” on the silver engraved dial. It has time and strike with Canterbury ... moreand Westminster chimes. Double weights, and the original brass pendulum bob. It has a glass door on top with a moon dial face, which shows a bit of roughness on the paint. The clock itself will go to our clock restorer, who will go through the whole thing, shine up the weights, adjust and calibrate all the gears, replace any bad bushings, and basically just restore the clock so it will work perfectly for you for years to come. It has a Herschede crown indicator on top, and I’m assuming the works are signed Herschede, but we will wait to see what the clock man says. The clock is in a solid mahogany empire style case, very large and not dainty, with wooden sides, round mahogany pillars coming down the front, a broken arch colonial shaped top with a bit of roughness on the molded edge, a large glass door in the front and a bun foot base. Antique Massachusetts Tall Case Clock c1815 / Grandfather
This is a great find- an American Tall Case clock about 99% original with cabinetry you will not find in British clocks. I'm always intrigued by skilled cabinetmakers and this guy was great. It's a solid maple case. String inlay, notched square nail trim, pinned joints, dovetailed bottom. The light color of the maple and contrasting base(original) fluted pilasters, rosettes, etc. create a visually striking image. The best part; this dial and movement are original to the case with no shims or'adjustments' to the shoulders. The dial fits perfectly in the arch of the door; the lock, key, and door hinges are original. The finish on the case and surface on the dial are untouched and original. The posts holding the finials are mortised into the bonnet. Sight glass is original and door glass looks to be. The only non-original item ... moreI see is the center finial. The clock runs and strikes correctly and has the original cast iron weights and pendulum. The date wheel does not work(typical) although the pin is present to trip it. The number on the back is 1912. Which might be the year. c. 1890-1920 71" high x 15.25" wide x 9.5" deep Details: Solid oak clock is in very good condition. Has original key and parts. I don't know much about clocks but when I bought was shown that it does work. Though I don't know whether it actually keeps time. It may need some minor repair. The numbers appear to be some type of plastic painted gold. The pendulum is brass and all parts appear to be original. The original back is missing. Shipping is not included. Antique, French, Grandfather clock, 1850-1870, Mobier
Antique. French, Clock and Long Case, 1850-1870, Mobier. 7-8 day, double strike. Dial surround is made out of pressed sheet brass. Shows a harvest relief, pendulum weight is a polished brass disc(approx. 12 cm diameter) and it is attached to a folding pendulum rod that attaches below the clock face. The pendulum moves in front of weights, verge escapement. Mobier clocks were always made at homes often by farmers, and were supplied as a movement only, without housing or weights. The village carpenter then produced the housing and the village blacksmith made the driving weights. The case is hand hewn with a bulge at the middle to make room for the pendulum, and hand painted with red roses and garland.The case stands over 6ft tall. This is a complex antique. Antique fine grandfather tall case clock case w/ inlay & movement - late 18th c.
This is an outstanding period mahogany tall case clock case from the late 1700s or early 1800s. The Provenance is Northeast Auctions. Portsmouth, NH. As you can see in the photos, it has superior workmanship and inlay throughout-including two wonderful inlaid urns. The case is 89 inches tall and is in excellent antique condition. The case comes with a period brass clock face with the name Martin Hall. Yarmouth. Martin Hall is listed as an English clockmaker in Yarmouth. It has an hour, minute(broken off) and second hand. The face includes a calendar and an engraved bird(eagle? at the top of the face. The original movement has been replaced with another brass movement that is attached to the clock. I know little about this movement as it is hard to see. There are no pendulum or weights. So I did not try to get it to run and have no idea how ... moremuch work that would involve. You could purchase the clock and leave it as it is, get the current movement in the clock to run or replace the current movement. In any case, you will have a stunning antique clock. This is a wonderful old antique German grandfather clock. This clock runs great and keeps good time. It strikes the hour on the hour and one time on the half hour. The strike chime is a nice deep and loud"Bim Bam" struck on a set of 5 chime rods. This is an 8 day clock. You pull the chains to raise the 2 heavy weights once a week. The dial and pendulum bob have an unusual matching silver and gold design. The glass in front of the dial is convex and the bottom door glass is flat with a nice wood grid design in front of it. Offered is this lovely oak grandfather clock by Gustav Backer. Case is solid oak and measures 85 1/2" over 7' tall! x 19 1/2" x 11" deep. And is comprised of the motor housing at the top, the pendulum and weights compartment in the middle with 3 beveled glass lites in the door, and the base with a nice art deco motif and parquet woodwork punctuated by two diamonds. The chime consists of four chime rods mounted to a metal plate behind the motor, which reads"Harfen Gong" as well as the Gustav Becker"GB" logo. The clock chimes on the hour by counting down the hours, and chimes once on the 1/2 hour on the four chime rods. Two beautiful brass weights run the works. The right for the motor, and the left for the chimes. Clock is wound by raising the weights on their chains. Pendulum is a beautiful pounded brass ... moreamulet on an oak rod with a rosette motif. The dial measures 10 1/2" diameter and is celluloid with Arabic numerals. Black steel hands tell the time. The hour hand is shaped like a spade. The minute hand is shaped like a broadsword. Made in Germany" is printed on the bottom, and a hand-painted logo reads"ESJ" above the 6; I assume this was either a previous owner's monogram, or a company's initials. Clock runs but. As will all tall clocks, will need professional installation to plumb and level in its new home to get it started. As for defects. There are very few, but a couple: the back of the case has a crack that runs about 48" It seems like a really clean crack, so probably an easy repair. Externally, there's one small dent in the pendulum door which can probably also be easily fixed, perhaps by steaming it out. Clock is available for local pickup in the San Francisco Bay Area. Antique English 1700's Grandfather Clock Mechanism & Face
Up for your consideration is this cir. 1700's English oak grandfather clock top with mechanism and face. It appears the wood surface was painted at some time.Stripped and the wood left bare on the front. The wood cabinet has wood dowel construction helping to tell how old the piece is. Everything that is on the clock appears to be original. The glass has multiple bubbles in it throughout. The face is of porcelain construction and has two hairline cracks in it as seen in the pictures. The clock face hands are hand cut.Further to help identify the age of this piece. There are two brass chains attached to the mechanism along with the original cat gut string. The dimensions are 14" wide 7&1/2" deep and 18&1/2" tall. I do not know if this clock works. Antique clock parts pendulum brass grandfather clock weighted
Large antique brass grandfather clock pendulum. It is 6" across and has a weight inside. It is in fair condition with nice patina and some dings as shown in the pictures. The weight inside is loose and appears to be lead. I am not sure of the age of this or the country it was made in as it is not marked. I have described the items condition to the best of my knowledge.
