The key says"made in England" The back of the pendulum says. pat Dec 11, 77" I looked this up online and Lovell of Erie, PA used these pendulums in clocks in the late 1800s. The gold is in excellent shape. The glass is too.l According to the website. Antiqueclockspriceguide.com, this may be rosewood. To me it looks closest to the online sample of Brazilian rosewood.The wood is beautiful a warm reddish grain with dark almost black variegation. The wood is in excellent antique condition with two small problem areas: 1. there is s tiny chip of veneer missing off the molding on the upper left corner of the pendulum door 2. there is a short deep scratch near the pendulum door latch. See photo close ups of this area. The face is weathered. Naturally, and is a super intriguing look. I wish I knew more about clocks. RARE Antique c1890s Miniature Grandfather Novelty Clock or Pocket Watch Holder
I have up for sale a unique vintage/ antique circa 1890s miniature grandfather clock Novelty Clock or possible pocket watch holder. This is a very ornate and detailed miniature. I am not sure if this was originally a pocket watch holder or a clock. The backside where the clock movement fits into the opening. Looks as though another mounting case would have been mounted, as you can see the old screw holes. You are buying it As Is, I am not sure if it was originally a clock or a pocket watch holder, you decide. The piece only stands approx 10-3/4" tall and is really nicely detailed. The castings are very intricate and the quarter sawn oak body is shaped- bombay type shape. The clock section itself appears to be an old replacement. As upon viewing closely to the back where the movement fits into the case, you can see old screw holes where ... morethe original movement once was seated and mounted/screwed into place. The clock is an Benedict Mfg Co WATERBURY CLOCK CO clock. It does not run and is wound tight, so either needs repair or replacement. As you can see there are a few hairlines on the porcelain dial face. The case itself is in superior condition- no damages and wear is negligible. This is a very detailed case. This is a beautiful mahogany tall case grandfather clock dating from what I would guess is around the 1910s. In original as-found condition. ... moreIt’s kind of a different kind of grandfather clock, because it has a set of weights and a set of chimes that are displayed behind the beveled glass door, along with a pendulum, but the clock is truthfully a key-wind eight-day movement, which they did quite often back in those days. It just looks like a really nice, expensive clock that you can buy for a really reasonable price. It’s time and strike, and has Westminster chimes. It is eight-day movement, as mentioned, that means when it’s wound up, you can let it run for eight days without rewinding. The weights and chimes are purely decorative, but the rest of the clock is very real. It has an empire colonial style case with pillars coming down the sides, a crown molded broken arch top with a center ball, which most likely had a spear on it at one time but it was removed. Behind the cutout glass door, there is a presentation tag that says it is going to a Wayne Richards from Ethel Richards, for Christmas 1917. It has a fully working Morbier grandfather clock. The woodcarving is quite exquisite with great depth and detail and a warm dark oak color. The cabinet is 100% solid oak. The clock works perfectly. It has an 8 day time and strike Morbier/Comtoise movement that is very reliable and accurate. The bell chime strikes once on the half hour and tolls out the hours. An antique Tallcase Clock from English Clockmaker Samuel Deacon. Circa 1790. We are pleased to present this antique Tallcase Clock for your consideration. It comes from the well known clockmaker Samuel Deacon(1746-1816) of Barton in the Beans. A small hamlet in Leicestershire, England. The Clock comes with two heavy weights(not pictured) and pendulum. The movement appears to have a missing piece at the top(a bell? and the hands to the Clock are missing. As this looks like a project piece, we've adjusted the price accordingly. The cabinet measures 78-1/2 inches high. 20 inches wide, and is 9-1/2 inches deep. The face is marked Deacon and Barton. We have not found any other identifying marks on the Clock. Physically. The Clock cabinet appears to have been well taken care of and is in good shape with no significant damage or issues. The ... moreglass is intact and the front door works properly. The face shows the greatest wear with paint that is extensively crazed, although the graphics are substantially intact. Overall, we rate the cabinet condition as very good, with the face in fair to good condition. The way the movement sits within the cabinet makes us wonder if this is the original cabinet for the movement. Looking at picture 4. The wooden cross member that the movement sits on does not look original. We also note the carved inset on the back surface which provides clearance for the guide for the pendulum. From a local estate, we do not have any more details about the history of this piece. With unknown pieces missing from the movement, we have not attempted to get the Clock to operate, and it is offered in as-is condition. You'll receive the Clock pieces shown in the pictures, plus the two weights which are not pictured. Early 1800's Antique Grandfather Clock, Wood Movements.
Clock has been cleaned and does work. Has to be wound every 24 hours and has a beautiful loud ring on the hour. The base and glass does have crack as seen in pics. The clock movement was made by Joel Curtis in Cairo NY 1815- 1825 and the dial exhibited typical characteristics of other documented Curtis dials. The case was most likely made by local in NY. A Great Antique Baby Grandfather clock signed by the maker in a Tramp Art/ Arts& Crafts style. Although it looks like some letters are missing from the makers name. It appears to be"Souger" I did a little research and couldn't come up with much as it pertains to this maker. Clearly this is all hand made and painted piece meal. There is a wonderful crazing to the finish. The interior of the clock is painted green and adds a nice accent. it looks to me like the all the pieces to the clock are there and in working order. They believe it was the only one made, possibly custom made and not mass reproduced. This is an opportunity to own the only Herschede Clock of it's kind. The clock you have looks like a genuine Herschede circa 1920 Pattern model 513 of the 1 first and maybe only clock. The third number is perhaps not there because it may have been in no LOT meaning Herschede only made one or the first of the pattern then did not make any other of that Pattern. We have never seen one other than yours. Regardless ... moreit is rare and the fact that it is Rod chimes which we have yet to determine the movement to be Herschede is irreplaceable. The rod chimes clocks were lower than the tubular bells however they are rare and considered a serious antique. It is also a PPIE winner and from the plate on the front to indicate so tells us that possibly this clock was the first and only at the exposition in 1915. Many Herschede clocks won the prize however your plate is larger than the plates assigned to Herschede from the PPIE were smaller but the ones actually there at the PPIE had the award given there and were of larger plates such as yours. You may find many with the PPIE winner plates however they are not as large as your plate. There are some writings inside the seat board that the movements sits on and it would be interesting to see what it says. On the other hand does the movement say Herschede or is there a crown inscribed on the movement with any markings and so forth? It is very difficult to ascertain exactly where the clock has been or where it came from however the facts I just explained are taken from the photos only. This wonderful tall case clock was made in 1832 by Riley Whiting of Winchester CT. It is in good shape for it's age. Beautiful cherry wood. I think, with Southern pine accents. Beautiful French polish to the wood. All wooden works, recently serviced and keeps good time. There are some missing teeth on some of the gears which may need to be replaced at some point. That is what my clock repair man told me. It does strike on a large bell at the hour only. The top of the bonnet has been broken and re-glued by someone else. You may want to re-look at that. The hand painted dial has an American Eagle holding arrows on it. This clock wound up in New Orleans with a prominant family for many long years. It measures 90 inches tall at the top of the brass finial, 18 inches wide and 10.5 inches deep. Clock man also said the calendar gear is missing, ... moreso the hand does not move. He said he could make one for me, but I did not feel that part was necessary. Has two tin weights that are filled with sand? Not sure why. I dont think the hands are original, they seem to be hand made. At any rate, this is a fine looking clock and needs to be in a good home where someone will look after it and appreciate it. Antique German Grandfather Clock c Late 1800s / Early 1900s
We are pleased to offer this beautiful German made antique grandfather tall clock. This is a one owner clock that is part of an estate located in Newport Beach California. We believe this is hand-made from black forest wood harvested from the historic Schwarzwald. The only marking is the numbers 1096 on the back of the mechanism. The back of the case has a small paper label but its not legible. The clock has been tested and while everything functions. It does stop after approx. 5 minutes of run time. It either needs to be serviced or balanced. It"gongs" on the hour corresponding to the number of the hour. It strikes a single gong every half hour. The mechanism is remarkably clean with no oxidation. Rust or other issues. Weights and pendulum are original and highly detailed. The case is in overall very nice condition and retains ... moreits original finish. We noticed a few older chips here and there that are consistent with age and use but found no major issues or damage of any kind. The clock face glass door is easy to open. Close, and lock. The front lower door and side access door at the top of the case are also easy to open and close. The original metal pulls are present. A beautiful grandfather clock from the early 1800's with hand made works. The clock has just been cleaned with new bushings. The case is pine and American made. The clock measures 81" high. 18 1/2" wide and 10" deep. It has a cast bronze bell with original painted face. The weights and pendulum are original to the clock. The case has one small repair to the bottom left foot. The gong is loud and beautiful sounding and rings on the hour and half hour. A true piece of American history. The dial is in fair condition. Hands are excellent. The clock will work if all conditions are right. The pendulum needs to be centered just right and the clock has to be level. This is not a clock for the novice. I would prefer someone buy it that knows about clocks. It is not a turnkey clock(parden the punt) The weights look original and have some cracking around the outer rings. The pendulum and left chain do not look original. The movement is in good condition. It will chime the hour of the day every hour and chime once on the half hour. Gustav Eduard Becker(May 2. 1819 in Oel, Silesia- September 17, 1885 in Berchtesgaden) was a German clockmaker ... moreand founder of the brand Gustav Becker. His breakthrough came in 1852 at the Silesian Clock Fair. Crowds were drawn to his works because of the quality. And he was awarded the gold medal for the best clock in the fair. In 1854 he received large orders from the Royal Mail and the Silesian Telagraphy Centre. After the orders, he received a fortune from the Duke of Martibore, and with this money he could pay enough to make clock cases for train stations. In the1860s, he began to create the Classical Gustav Becker clocks. Starting from fairly simple clocks. Glass has cracked, many that make it to Colorado crack, we are quite dry here. I do not know if it works perfectly, but it looks good and complete, I buy these as decorations, don't really know that much about clocks except that I like them. Nice Mini Grandfather clock project. I believe it is a Mahogany case. Interesting small Time and Alarm movement. small paper dial set into a brass dial pan and bezel. No glass. The main body is very nicely made. The top is a little beat up and will need repair and has no door. It has been in storage over a decade and even though it runs it will need service. I can see the movement makers name but it is sandwiched under the dial and I cannot read it. I imagine the case is someones construction and very nice but needing the hood repair. Stored over a decade. An antique Tallcase Clock from Scottish Clockmaker John Gartly. Circa 1799. We are pleased to present this antique Tallcase Clock for your consideration. It comes from the Scottish clockmaker John Gartly and dates to approximately 1799. Constructed from Mahogany. This beautiful Clock features an ornate brass face with gilt floral scrollwork. It is complete with two(2) weights, pendulum, a handle type key, plus original shipping paperwork documenting a voyage made by the Clock between Glasgow and Los Angeles in 1936. The handsome George III style cabinet measures 80 inches high. 21 inches wide, and is 11 inches deep. The face is marked John Gartly and Aberdeen. We have not found any other identifying marks on the Clock. Physically. The Clock is in pretty decent shape with assorted minor issues. There is a crack on the front of the base. The ... morelock works, but is a newer piece. The glass over the face has the ripples and imperfections that would be expected on the original. The movement shows accumulated dust, but appears to be free of any damage. Some of the trim is damaged, with some small pieces missing. Please review the pictures to get a good understanding of its current condition. Overall, we rate the physical condition as good to very good. While we were taking the pictures. We attached the weights and did a quick evaluation of the operation. The Clock wanted to free run with the weights attached, but dampened out when the pendulum was attached. Our testing surface wasn't level, so we limited our evaluation to this quick test. The handle style key turned both of the gears and lifted the weights. We believe the Clock will need cleaning and oiling, at a minimum, to restore full operation, and it is offered in as-is condition. This is a charming Antique Tallclock. I have collected Ithaca grandfather clocks and calendar clocks for many years. The center finial is usually the one missing because it was the first one removed and lost if the clock did not fit in the room due to a low ceiling or it was the first one damaged while the clock was being moved. Ithaca used several different styles of brass finials and one style of wood finials on their spring driven and weight driven grandfather clocks. This style of Ithaca grandfather clock center brass finial is one of the more common ones used by Ithaca and is shown on pages 299 and 300 of Tran Duy Ly's reference book LONGCASE CLOCKS AND STANDING HALL REGULATORS. The finial measures approximately ... more4 3/8” high by approximately 2 ½” wide. The original lacquer on the brass is tarnished some and has a very nice old patina on it but it would clean up nicely if the new owner desires to do so. Some photos were taken with the flash and some were taken without the flash to give you a true representation of what the original lacquer finish on this finial looks like. NOTE: As shown in the photos- there are a couple small dents on the round upper body of the finial and a few small dents on the very tip of the top of this finial. Antique Grandfather Clock 8 Foot Tall Mahogany One of a Kind Pre 1930
Available for sale is a rare Grandfather Clock which stands a regal 8 foot 3 inches tall. It is 29" wide and 20 1/2" deep. This Federal Empire Style piece was manufactured at the Dauler. Close, and Johns Furniture Company of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. The manufacturer went out of business in 1930. It has a 6 Tube. 2 Chime Movement. It is keeping time, but the Chimes need to be tuned. This clock is believed to have been from Fairholme. The Newport, Rhode Island Estate of Fairman Rogers. The cabinet has a crack in the back where a panel had loosened. The front has 6 foot columns and glass side panels. The clock must be seen to appreciate the grandeur of this piece.

Antique Grandfather Clock,Rare, with Wm. Johnson Signature in pencil
Rare Tall Case Clock with hand made wood/ brass movement. This is a possibly one of a kind grandfather clock that has several unique features. Limited research appears to reveal that it was made in germany about 1789 and it is all original accept for the front glass that was replaced. The wood clock face was touched up at some point and a few braces may have been added to the clock frame. The clock movement has brass gears with wooden frame and end bearing plates. Gear shafts turn inside of hollow metal inserts in wooden plates, The clock works. It also features tubeler weights that have sand in them to power clock for about a day. The chime is a bell which is struck by a hammer on the hour. The all wood construction is held togeather by hand made nails and pegs. With wire type hooks to hold, and lock movement, clock face, clock enclosure, ... moreand top of clock in place. On the inside of wood face plate is handwriting in pencil: Wm. Johnson. January 6th 1818, and below it in a diffirent handwriting: cleaned Feb. 22, 1849 W.I. Eiden. Also on the inside of the back wood movement cover is handwriting in pencil: Repaired by Wm. Johnson. January 6th 1818, March 18, 1845. Most likely the only reason the pencil writing is still visible. Is because it is in areas away from the light, because most of the other wood areas are very dark from age. Clock measures 90 inches high, by 18 1/2 inches wide by 11 1/2 inches deep. William Johnson was a clock dealer in the 1840's in New York City. So if a copy of his handwriting is avaiable it can easily be compared to the handwriting in the clock. Due to the age of this clock packing and shipping charges would go according to actual shipping distance, or it can be picked up by the buyer.

Oak 1830 Antique English Country Wilkins of Marlbro Long Case Grandfather Clock. The engraved brass dial is beautiful on this grandfather or long case clock. Hand crafted in Marlbro, England about 1825. The 8 day movement has been professionally cleaned and oiled and still keeps excellent time. Counting the hour on a bell. The calendar dial works on this country manor timekeeper. Solid fine grained oak. The case has a very nice old finish and warm patina. There are shrinkage separations from age, see photos. Waxed and polished, only an occasional wipe with a soft dry cloth is needed to maintain its glowing luster. Engraved iron hands appear original. The winding crank is old but not original. Because of damp stone floors, the base has been rebuilt. Hand carved columns and fluted corners are authentic. Signed by the maker. In. Mahogany 1825 Antique English Country Manor Long Case Grandfather Clock. Scenes from a country manor adorn this grandfather or long case clock. Hand crafted in England about 1825. The 8 day movement has been professionally cleaned and oiled and still keeps excellent time, counting the hour on a bell. Mahogany with inlaid satinwood and ebony banding. The case has a very fine old finish and warm patina. There are shrinkage separations and warps from age, see photos. Waxed and polished, only an occasional wipe with a soft dry cloth is needed to maintain its glowing luster. The hand painted iron dial has original charming views of the country house where the clock once stood. Plus farm birds and a little girl with chickens. Numerals appear repainted in the center. An understated oak tall case or grandfather clock is signed"William Cooper, Hamilton, an ancient town southeast of Glasgow in Scotland. The fine grained oak case has a satiny finish in excellent condition. Waxed and buffed, it needs only an occasional wipe with a soft dry cloth to maintain its antique luster.
