After some research online I found that Japy clocks were first made during the late 18 th century by Frederic Japy and was later carried on as“Japy Bros& Co” by his three sons into the early 20 th century. The original key& pendulum is missing, but when we wound this clock with a universal key it began to run, even without a pendelum and I can hear the movement advancing at the hour& half hour. HUGE 24" ANTIQUE FRENCH ONYX MARBLE FIGURAL AUGUST MOREAU SPELTER STATUE CLOCK
Just acquired out of a wonderful private Midwest estate. We are able to offer this late 1800's era, VERY IMPRESSIVE" ~ VICTORIAN FRENCH FIGURAL SPELTER STATUE CLOCK ~. This would have been a fairly expensive clock to purchase back in the 1880's era and not many could afford such a fine luxury. We do not often see clocks that are as fancy and high end as this one. This is a fairly large clock measuring almost 24 inches tall by 10 inches wide by 9 inches deep. It has a beautiful natural onyx marble base and the entire clock weighs an amazing 31 pounds. The spelter statue is signed Aug. MOREAU, a very well known French sculptor. The clock is running, and has only been tested for a short time, and I would certainly imagine it could use a good cleaning and servicing because it has been tucked away for a very long time in the estate. ... moreThe over all condition is pretty decent with a few things that need to be mentioned. The top spelter has separated from the base and simply needs to be placed back on with a strong adhesive. It actually just sits fine and looks good with the stature just placed on the base" it fits perfectly and is quite sturdy and secure" The good news is that the clock will be easier and much safer to ship this way, so we did not attatch it back to the base. The spelter statue itself is in nice condition with no damage or repairs. I also see a chip on the porcelain dial as well as some expected hairline cracks- see picture. The last thing that I see which needs to be mnetioned is what looks like a minor repair to the back side of the onxy base where is a piece came loose and was put back, see picture# 9. Please understand that we are selling this clock as found as it will require some restoration if desired. It displays exceptionally well and would be the center attraction in most any room you would choose to display it in. Here is a VERY Rare Long Pendulum French BULLE Electro Mechanical Gallery Wall Clock that is COMPLETE. I have no idea if it works or not but it sure does look Great just hanging on a wall. The clock face has places where the paint is flaking as can be seen in the pictures. It is in a Beautiful Copper Case that has a Terrific Patina. The back plate appears to be cast aluminum. It is about 16& 1/8" Wide at the back of the case and is about 3& 3/4" Deep. About the only reference to this clock was found in a 1925 French catalog and I have included pictures of it for reference. Antique Friesian (French) Farmers Wall Clock. One hundred plus years
I Purcase in antique shop in the Hague. Netherlands in early 1970's. I was told, at that time, the clock was over 100 years old. Face name is shown as F.RICQUE at top of face and below middle THE WORDS- a CHATEAUBERIAN. These type of clocks were in inexpensive pine floor clock cabinet mostly puchased buy farmers. Over time the cabinet deteriorated and were discarded. Clock face appears to be Porcelian, The copper relief surronds the face of the clock and also is the material for the Pendulum and the relief of both pieces are flowers painted and showing copper relief. Weights are iron and attached by heavy cord for winding. Clock comes with KEY to wind clock. There are metal doors on each side of clock box so you have access to clock moving parts. Clock is mounted at the back on wood and is painted black.

Nice bezel and beveld glass up front. and blue glass on back door. But it is cracked. The case is not in the best condition and came apart at base. movement looks ok. but is missing bell. The striking does work strikes hours and one strike on half. movement does say bennett 3347 in one circle and in the one where the bell goes says japy freres and other writeing i can not read. It is to small, in a circle. you can see the pictures. I thought it would work. But did not. Would tick for 30 sec. or. So. I bought it for 75.00. so i'm starting at 60.00. I got to have that or i will part it out. it doesn't have a pendulum. But as you can see i was going to see if a american suspension spring would work. Nope. and it had no key. I beleive this will fit in a large priority shipping box. and i will get insurence on it too. So that is what your ... morepaying for. This is pretty heavy. I will take care of the insurence. The cathedral-shaped case is made of some sort of dark hardwood with a glossy lacquered and exquisite wood veneer overlay and a contrasting front edge inlay. Stands on four(4) brass legs. Antique / Vintage FRENCH MANTLE CLOCK ~ WOOD w/ DECORATED CERAMIC
ANTIQUE FRENCH CLOCK BASE/ STAND Antique wooden French clock base/stand decorated with what looks like ceramic ornamentation. It is approx 15" tall. 9" wide, a little under 5" deep and weighs almost 3 pounds. The opening for the clock is approx 4" I was told this is French. But I can't find much info on this type/style. It is wooden, but all ornamentation is ceramic or a ceramic-like material. It seems to be in nice condition with nothing missing, but there are obvious touch-ups and minor repairs(most notably around the clock opening) that have been made over the years. There are age fractures in some of the"ceramic decorations" It has a gold/bronze coating. I know little about vintage clocks. So please feel free to contact me with any questions or corrections.

Antique 1860s Black Marble French Mantel Clock by S. Marti Medaille DeBronze
This French Mantel Clock is quite wonderful. It is made of black marble. The maker is S. Marti Medaille DeBronze. 4 11. It measures approximately12x6x9. The back opening has the little cloth lining so the chimes are soft. It is an 8-day movement and strikes on the hour and half hour. It works very well. There is an inlay design on each side. The face has a little damage as you can see in the photos. The glass casing over the face is all original and beveled. There is a small piece of marble broken off on the back top and is not noticable from the front at all. There is an engraving on the back that reads"131JOBC with 66 88" beneath it. I do not know what this means. The inside is marked S. Marti Medaille De Bronze AC. It is really a fantastic clock for its age. A perfect time piece for the collector. ANTIQUE FRENCH CLOCK STAND/BASE Antique French clock base/stand with marble-like inserts(I don't know the exact material. But they are translucent) that have decorative metal inserts within them. There were some notes that came with the base that mentioned 19th century"gilt bronze" but again, I don't know details. The base is approx 15" wide. 5 1/2" at it's widest(center) 5 1/2" high and is heavy, weighing in at over 5 pounds. On inspection. I don't see anything broken, though there was something that screwed into the left and right sides(see holes) that were most likely support legs since this doesn't sit level the way it is. The face in the center is screwed in. Also, the back of the base looks like it was re-coated with a lighter gold material. I know little about vintage clocks. You are looking at a rare large estate auctioned French bronze clock marked on the movement"L.P. JAPY& Co HORS CONCOURS 1878" Clock keeps good time. 8 day movement is clean and in working condition, chimes on a brass bell the hours and half hours. Comes with an adjustable French original to the clock pendulum with the same numbers as on the movement. But the winding key is not original. Clock's case has 2 rare bronze front claw feet. Nice porcelain dial face with fancy hands is in good condition. No chips, hairlines or cracks, but some tiny flakes around the key holes, see picture#3. Over all this"as is" over 100 years old clock with a wonderful patina is in very very nice like new condition for its age. ON SALE I just lowered the price. Enjoy! Nice antique French Slate Mantle clock with Brass Pillars. I do not know the maker. It is stamped 11122 on the inside. Check the last picture. It also is stamped 8 and 1. I do have the original key. It seems to work fine but you might want to have it serviced. Size. It is 61 pounds. Very heavy. It is 21.5 inches wide. 15.5 inches tall, and 6 inches deep. It is in good shape for how old it is. Please note that it looks to have been repainted black. The hour/minute hands have been painted white so that you can see them. There is brass around the outside edge of dial. And the dial is porcelain. All of the Pillars are brass. The bottom right corner has a chip. And right above it there is another chip. When it was repainted the paint covers the chips(color wise) The chips are not that big. I am offering a diamond in the rough a beautiful antique French gilded bronze and hand painted porcelain mantle clock made by the renowned French clocks maker Samuel Marti et Cie. This piece was made between 1860 and 1870. Based on the early serial number of 1989. Movement stamped“S. Marti et Cie Medaille de Bronze” in a circle. Samuel Marti was awarded the Bronze Medal in 1860. as well as the hand stamped serial number and the makers mark, there is an interesting mark in the left side of the back plate which is a square with the capital letters C,J,C,C. Please view all photos for these marks and for the overall condition and appearance of this beautiful time piece. This is a working mantle clock and it strike the chimes on the half and whole hours. The condition of this piece is excellent. But need a cleaning to make it glow. The hand painted ... moreporcelain dial and the associate plates are in perfect condition. The back cover is missing, but can be replaced. The front glass cover is perfect. The key and the pendulum are replacements. The pendulum is an original for this type of movement, but comes from a different clock. This clock measures approximately 15.5" tall by 9.25" wide by 5.5" deep. Samuel Marti et Cie were well known clock makers in Paris in the mid eighteenth century. In 1860 it's known that their premises were situated at Le Pays de Montbeliard and in 1863 Marti worked with two other well known clock maker's Roux. And Japy Freres in promoting their clock movements. This type of clock is unique and valuable. Other examples sell for well over $2000 at auction and higher on the open market. Maintain this piece and it will only increase in value. I am offering this clock for a very reasonable starting bid with NO RESERVE. I advise the winner of this clock to have it looked at by a professional clock restorer to have the movement cleaned and oiled as well as taking care of any problems associated with the delivery of this delicate time piece. It has a lovely chime on the hour. At 1:00 a.m. or 1:00 p.m. It chimes once, at 2:00 a.m. or 2:00 p.m. it chimes twice, etc. You can listen to a recording I made of the clock's eleven chimes at 11:00 p.m. a few days ago here: The clock is 27 cm tall. 18 cm long, and 12 cm wide. The top and bottom plates, the dial ring, and the pendulum are covered with half-round blue glass decorative beads. On the back plate is stamped"J.C. Caldwell& Co. Philadelphia. Centered on the back are the words"Made in France" And on the right side the serial number 875. This clock was made for the above jewelry store as a store name. Comments: Very good to excellent condition. No visible chips in the glass or the dial. The plating is somewhat tarnished from being touched. But only in a minor way. Late nineteenth century French oeil de boeuf wall clock in excellent condition. Roughly 25" x 19" with a dial diameter of 9.1/2" The eight day movement is of the standard French type and has been hanging in my kitchen for the past five years and performs faultlessly. The dial surround is heavily encrusted with marquetry mother of pearl with silver filigree borders and the hinged frame is ebonised black. A very nice example reminiscent of French bourgoise country life and would be equally at home in a English sitting room. Please contact me for shipping quotes as they vary considerably.

The French movement is of high quality and bears the stamp of the well known maker' H& F of Paris' The clock has a brass and enamel dial. And a bell striking movement. The whole is inlaid with beautiful Boullework and applied with scrolled ormolu mounts. Complete with original sunburst pendulum. Bell and key. It keeps really good time and is delightful to look at. Mantle Clock OAK CASED BAROMETER/THERMOMETER/CLOCK. This very nice looking Victorian Barometer/Thermometer/Clock dates back to the late 1800's. There is a presentation plate with 1901.The emamelled dials each have an ornate central filigree roundal the black numerals are printed on the enamel. It has blued hands and the face of the barometer is marked"Made in Paris" The thick bevelled clock glass is original and is retained by a nice brass bezel. The movement is an 8 day, key included, no makers initials. It works well keeping good time. The nicely conditioned Oak clock case has intricantly carved foliage. It is approximately 8 3/4" tall by 15 1/5" long, it is in superb condition. The back door covers have a nice tight fit. It runs well, please note that the platform is missing two screws, which does not effect it`s ... moreoperation, but it may need an adjustment after the rigours of the postal system. Antique 19thc French Empire Gilt Ormolu Mantle by Clock Samuel Marti c1867-89
Freres This is a beautiful Antique French Empire early 19th century gilt ormolu mantle clock with a figural farmer with his plough. The body of the case has various foliage inclding wheat or barley and a windmill. This clock is amazing to display. I wound the clock four days ago and it is runniing just a little fast. I am sure it just needs to be cleaned and adjusted. The porcelain dial with roman numerals is in great shape, I can see no cracks or other damage. This original French 8 day clock has bell striking movement by the renowned Samuel Marti, which strikes the bell fully on the hour and a single strike on the half hour. The movement has the"Medaille de Bronze" mark which dates it to between 1867-89. I do not see any number stamped on the pendulum, therefore I suspect it is a replacement. Brass key included. The case is in ... morenice condition as you can see from the photographs including all ormolu mounts, minimal age wear but would polish up like new I am sure. I have taken a picture from underneath that reveals a replacement nut that secures the figure to the main body. Please note the auction is for the clock and base only and not the dome which is cracked but I will offer the winner it for free although shipping will be more costly. Japy Freres(no name. Just the marking on the movement, which was researched,and found to be so) brass or gold bronze clock- not certain which. Condition is great, pendulum is missing but I don't think that is a big deal. It doesn't belong to me but the strike works and the chime is very sweet and delicate and high pitched.
