Antique French carriage clock. Key & travel case. Restored/serviced May 2013.
This good quality carriage clock(manufactured in C 1890 by A.C.C. is in outstanding original condition. I finished restoring/servicing it at the end of May 2013 and it is now in full working order. Tucked away in the travel case when I acquired it. Was a 55 year old repair bill for £9.10.0d- which comes with the clock. I believe that my service was the first the clock has had since then! The clock is t he standard size: Height with handle folded down 4 3/4 inches(12 cms) Width 3 inches(7.5 cms) Depth 2 3/4 inches(7 cms) CLOCK CASE: The solid brass case is in really good original condition. I dismantled. Cleaned and polished it and, rather than lacquering, gave it a coating of special wax polish. It now has a durable and attractive antique patina which should last for years and make it easier to clean in future. All component parts of ... morethe case are stamped with the manufacturers matching batch number(163) showing it to be all original. Unusually. The clock still has its original brass base masking plate. The clock has clearly been well cared for in the past- all the screws are in unusually good condition. MOVEMENT: The heavy brass movement is also in good original condition. It has"A.C.C" inscribed on the contrate wheel cock on the back plate. All the back plate screws have been beautifully blued(not by me) I completely dismantled the movement and. After checking it for wear, cleaned, polished and oiled it. It should give good service now for years before needing another service. ESCAPEMENT: I also dismantled. Cleaned and oiled the original brass 7-jewelled cylinder escapement which is visible through the oval top glass. It works well with very good amplitude. The clock keeps good time. DIAL: The white enamel-on-copper dial is original and in perfect condition. The bold roman numerals on the chapter ring are crystal clear and really stand out. The brass is intact and solid(could use some steel wool to make shiny again) The clock winds up and you can set the time. However it only works for about 30 seconds. I think it just needs oil, because when I pick it up by its handle and gently twist, I can see through the top glass the movement on the top will spin back and forth and I see the gears moving but it will slow down to a stop after 30 sec. I can do it many times and every time it's the same. It's been sitting for a few years in a glass china hutch so it probably just needs a basic tune up. I'm selling this beautiful. Antique, good working, windable, Japy Freres clockset having a pendulum. This set is an excellent investment object already having a value far above of what its offered for in this listing! This beauty has a Porcelain/ china housing and is made in France between 1850-1899. The porcelain is in an excellent condition and has beautiful bright colours! This whole clockset is in an absolute amazing condition and full functioning. The toppiece can be seperated from the clock itself. It has a nice clear(silver) bell chime which chimes each half hour and on full hours. This clock is completely original. Of course this clock comes with a key. Antique / Vintage FRENCH MANTLE CLOCK ~ w/ FIGURINE / STATUE ~ Man in Hat & Coat
ANTIQUE FRENCH CLOCK STAND/BASE w/ STATUE Antique French clock base/stand with figurine/ statue of a man in hat and coat. It is approx 12" tall. 10 1/2" wide, 4" deep and weighs over 3 pounds. The figurine is 6" tall and is screwed into the base. The clock opening is 3 1/2" and there is a rectangular cutout on the inside bottom for a pendulum. I was told this is French from the 19th century. There are 3 defects(see pic) 1) The tip of the leg has been repaired from behind with what looks like a weld. 2) A small area has been retouched with a brighter gold material. 3) The leg is missing. I know little about vintage clocks. So please feel free to contact me with any questions or corrections.

ANTIQUE FRENCH WALL CLOCK--ABALONE INLAY--8 DAY--REPEATER
Please consider this antique French wall clock with an 8 day movement. The clock is 25 inches tall. 19 and 1/2 inches wide and 5 inches deep. The movement although unmarked appears to be a Morbier with super heavy brass construction. The movement has been cleaned and tested so is in very good operating condition. The clock chimes once on the half hour and then chimes the number of the hour on the hour. AND THEN. Repeats the hour count at about two minutes after the hour. Just in case you missed the first count. The chime is of the coiled spring type and is of medium volume. The wood case is a gloss black and has a good appearance. There are repaired areas at both the top and bottom of the outer case that can be seen when close and the right light angle. Tried to show the rough areas in the photos. The dial is metal and carries the name Collaine'Dumand ... moreas well as Courtenuy. Dial is in decent shape however there is a ding on the edge between the numbers 7 and 8. The inlay looks to be abalone or some similar material.all intact. Glass over the dial is good. Even has a bubble or two to show it is original. The pendulum and key look to be original. Antique French Marble Slate Clock Case Restored
Listing is for a french black marble or slate clock case in restored condition. This case used to have a french clock that I sold for parts. The case was chipped in corners. The rite bottom side piece of slate was missing, and the clock had other small unsightly issues. This clock case is now very acceptable. See my pictures. Picture#9 shows where the missing piece of slate was rebuild. Not a perfect job but better looking then before. One candelabrum has the gentleman reading a love letter delivered by a dove. On the other candelabrum she also reads a love letter and on the front of the clock they meet in a country park. The bodies are mounted with gilt brass in the Rococo style. The clock stands on acanthus bracket feet with a large and elaborate Rococo boat shaped urn to the top. It is classical in design, hanging from a large gilt brass bow with a laurel wreath. The clock is mounted in a toleware body with original blue painted finish. Below the dial is an eagle with cornucopia to each side, heavily modelled in gilt brass. The dial is large and is enamel on copper with blued steel hands and convex glazed bezel. It is Baroque in style. A beautiful waisted shape to the case with light, fretted panels above and below the dial. The pendulum can be glimpsed swinging within the case. It is decorated with laurel swags and a large urn with a pineapple finial. Candelabra are matching in style with elaborate scrolling arms. It is finely modelled in gilded brass, the gilding is in excellent bright condition. The dial is enamel on copper. It is sculptured to resemble a cartouche dial and is lettered in roman numerals for the hours with a separate Arabic minute ring. The rear door is also glazed to allow the movement to be seen. A most exquisite original antique French clock by the famous maker Japy Freres. It is finely modelled in ormolu(finely gilded bronze) Beautifully finished and in stunning original condition. It is mounted with Sevres style porcelain. Each piece is signed faintly on the reverse by the artist. It is decorated with a pompadour rose pink background, the panel below the dial is delicately painted with a scene of a young couple in a country scene with panels of floral swags to each side. The dial itself is decorated with a cherub with a pair of laurel wreaths, an allegory for success. It is lettered in white cartouches against the pink background with turquoise coloured enamel'jewel' half-hour markers. This is a stunning ... moreclock, fine ormolu rather then the usual gilt spelter and very original, unusually the case is stamped with the movement's serial number. The dial is mounted in a gilded drum with a pink porcelain urn above. This is decorated with floral swags and ormolu handles. Laurel swags hang below the dial. The original gesso base is covered with pink velvet. It bears a number that is one less then that of the clock, however it is a perfect fit and therefore we think this is an original numbering error. The rear door is glazed with convex frosted glass. Please note that this style of clock does not have a glazed bezel over the dial) The French movement is by Japy Freres and has the makers mark on the backplate. It is in the Baroque style and features a pair of dolphins supporting the pillars to each side of the case.
