Soldered to the top of the oval is a molded soft metal(probably lead) bow decoration and a 12" length of heavy chain for hanging. The photograph is from the era and was in the frame when we bought it. No name or identification on the back unfortunately but she is a sweet-faced young woman with a"Gibson Girl" hair style. She is posed amidst billowing yards of white tulle with a shell cameo brooch gathering some of the abundant fabric. The glass is old and in good condition. There is one little split in the lead on the left loop of the decorative bow but it's an unnoticeable flaw. This is a charming vintage item of an Antique Art Nouveau picture frame with oval image. A flower rises on one side with trace of colour over the high relief nouveau flower; c 19.1 cm high X 15 across. The revesre hard card impressed as"Made in England" and stands well. There is no glass and a small right hand corner top is askew from age and use/handling. All may be restored if desired although as it does not really affect the frame it does seem to be unnecessary as it is minor and we personally think it adds to age and character of the item. We are pleased to offer this antique to older vintage. Hand crafted, solid wood, collage picture frame. This grand and heavy frame features thick oak construction(no veneer) with an overall rectangular design. The frame has 12 large carved individual frames inside the outer frame which are set in 4 vertical rows of 3 horizontal frames. Each frame has an oval opening and, because of the thickness of the wood, the picture sits very recessed inside the opening. There is a beautiful, arts and crafts style carving, burned or incised pattern that surrounds each individual opening and makes each one seem independent of the other. There is a scalloped border around each oval opening. Inside the scalloped design are very petite flowers. The frame is further divided with straight line incisions. Frames such as this were often used for family photographic portraits around the turn of the last century, this one dating at a guess to around 1910. Antique 1872 Beers Map Keyport,Matawan,& Perth Amboy,New Jersey, Victorian Frame
Up for your consideration is this rare antique maps of Keyport. Matawan, and Perth Amboy, New Jersey from the State Atlas of New Jersey, published by Beers, Comstock, and Cline, 1872 in an antique Victorian oak picture frame. The hand colored inset maps are in good condition for their age but the paper has some edge loss at the botttom left edge and right sides and some overall light age yellowing. There are also edge tears. It has been backed with acid free backing matte board. The antique oak frame is quite nice with some raised inset detailing. The frame features old wavy glass and a wooden backing. It measures 13 1/4 by 17 1/4 inches, overall and will accommodate an 11 1/2 by 15 1/2 inch picture. For your consideration is this Antique Victorian Shadow Box Frame With Allegorical Print This antique Victorian shadow box frame measures approximately 13 3/4" in length. 8" in height, and 1 1/2" in thickness. It contains an allegorical print approximately 10" in length and 4" in height. The print depicts an allegorical scene with an inscription in Greek across the bottom. A wire hanger is attached to the back of the frame. Seven small nails hold the back in place. A piece of antique glass with small bubbles does protect the print or whatever picture/print the buyer desires to use the frame for. Oliver Wendell Holmes. Sr. was an American physician born in 1809 in Cambridge Massachusetts and also was a poet, professor, lecturer, and author. He was one of the best writers of the 19th century. The very detailed etching is in an antique 13 x 19 frame with a newer acid free mat. The gesso frame has some rough edges and its back cover is in original vintage condition. The glass is the wavy antique type from this time period. Antique wood and gesso picture frame. The frame is made of wood with a raised"gesso" design. Original gold tone finish on the frame– has not been restored. The gold finish has darkened over the years. 1 spot needs touching up top right hand side. This is a stunning frame measures 25" long and 20" wide. Inside mesures 20 1/4" x 16 1/4" Some items are heavy and needs large box for shipping. I keep my prices at a fair value and will accept fair offers to compensate on the shipping charges. Antique early American Faux Grain Paint Picture Frame Courting Mirror Empire
This fun little country survivor dates ca. 1830-1850 and is crafted of soft wood(poplar? Pine? with original two tone red grain painted surface and brass hanging loop. It measures only 6 ½” x 5 ½” overall with 4 ½” x 3 ½” reveal and 5” x 4” back opening and houses an antique glass mirror pane with badly fogged silver. The construction is all wrought nail and it retains its old thin wood back held in place with square nails. Antique Empire Regency Gilt Looking Glass Mirror Picture Frame Rope Twist Column
This superior ca. 1825-1845 pier glass frame is missing its dividing muntin. So could easily be hung as an over mantel. It is crafted of pine and poplar with worn middle to late 1800s dark glaze(to imitate wood) over brilliant original metal leaf and measures 39” x 19 ¾” x 2 ¾” deep overall with 33” x 14” reveal and 33 ¾” x 14 3/8” back rabbet opening. The surface is dirty and stable and very hard to describe: at time smoky brown and dull with some shiny areas of glaze punctuated by bright gold leaf gleaming through in areas of wear. It is very striking. One of the brass corner rosettes is gone and there is no mirror glass or backing board. If you wish to restore to the original bright gold, I suspect this layer could be removed without significantly damaging the leaf. Thr frame is sturdy and usable. ANTIQUE ART DECO VANITY MIRROR Upright, Easel, Corn Stalk & Leaves Frame, 1920s
Listed for your consideration is a vintage. Or antique oval mirror, framed in two stalks with leaves. The mirror is designed to stand on a dresser or vanity and has a standing easel. The easel is sturdy and has a guard, to protect it from bending too far back and breaking. The whole item measures 18-1/2 inches x 14-1/2 inches. The mirror alone measures 16 inches x 11-1/2 inches. The mirror is ART DECO. From the period of the 1920s-1930s. The detailed frame of the mirror is made of a carved wood, designed to look like the large leaves of corn stalks curling up along either side of the frame. The crossing of the stalks forms the base of the frame. Very original, very unique! Whimsical! Folksy! Stylish! Everything is original. Including the mirrorl. It is beveled along the entire outer edge and is in very good condition overall, however it does ... morehave some small areas of discoloration due to loss of silvering at the back, but not enough to require resilvering, as some old mirrors do. Fortunately, the darkened areas are limited to the edges, and do not interfere with the center of the mirror. There is a string at the back of the mirror for easy hanging. Although that was a later addition and not part of the original plan. The frame of the mirror is wood. With some paint and gilt. It is in very good condition, no cracks, no repairs, but there is some edgewear to the wood. The brown, felt back is attached to the frame with six small screws, easily removeable in order to access the mirror, if desired, for cleaning. Non-smoking environment. No odors. Clean. Very sweet estate found late 1890's-turn of the century portrait of a baby. With a very happy expression, sitting on a pillow outside the front door. In the original frame with the wonderful original wavy old glass. Measuring approx. 14 in. tall x 13 in. wide. Some staining on outer edge of matting and typical chippy wood deterioration in the frame. A small*crack* in the middle of glass, about 1 inch long, that appears to have happened when the old glass was being made. Please refer to photos. Wood backing is intact as are the old nails. Antique Victorian Embroidered Picture w Oval Frame 1800's
You can see that the holes on the sides were originally made with hand made nails. I do not know the origin of this lovely needlepoint or it's frame. Undoubtedly wool. And well over 100 years old. There is a weightiness about it. I think it is that the glass may be thicker/denser than we see today. 10 3/4" High X 8 3/4" Wide The photos came out a tad lighter than the actual piece. The frame is gray/brown.
