Original painted decorations on front, sides were never painted. It has a mirror that is not original to it. The mirror isn't all that old but does have quite a bit of tarnishing to the silver. I don't have the original wood backing board or the hanger or wire. It does have a cardboard backing with newer nails and wire. The reel is missing the reel foot and may have been signed on that. Looks to be pre 1900. 3" diameter sideplates 1 1/4" across. Weight 9 oz. No markings or numbers on the reel at all. Has a bone handle. Slight bend on upper outer edge of left sideplate. Has a nice aged patina on finish. A nice collectible reel if you have the reel foot.

The patent mark on the back reads August 12, 1880. This frame has been in my family since the 1940s or earlier. The frame includes the original glass(not shown in the photos) and is in good working condition. The plate measurement is 3 5/8” x 4 3/4” The overall measurement is 6” x 7” x 1 1/8” Please check my other listings for more vintage items including printing frames. Antique Oak Arts & Crafts Mission picture frame mirror Quarter Saw Vg+ Cond 1914
Even though it is not signed this is the nicest antique Mission Oak Picture or Mirror frame that I have owned. It is expertly crafted and is made up of darkly stained quarter sawn oak sides with 4 sided pyramids at the corners. The finish is original and in very good vintage condition. It is structurally sound and not warped. When I purchased it it had an Angus Mac Donall Western print dated 1914 in it that I am listing seperately. It has an oak ply back on it that is held in place with screws. Between the print and the ply back was a Milwaukee Leader newspaper that was also dated 1914. The glass was broken and I see no reason to purchase new glass to add to the shipping weigh. The buyer can purchase a piece of glass of their choiice or perhaps order a beveled mirror to go with it. Either way I think it will be a wonderful addition to any ... morearts and crafts setting. Please inspect it closely with your zoom tool to verify the condition before bidding. Early Victorian needlepoint of a spaniel standing in a landscape. There are buildings in the distance to the left and the spaniel has her head turned back, presumably looking at her mistress. The woolwork is very well preserved; the background is left unworked as was usually the case with these needlepoint dog portraits. I would date the sampler to the mid-19th century, circa 1840's-1850's. Quite large and heavy. The total framed size measures ~15" x 17.5" It is housed behind glass in a period, possibly original, rosewood veneer frame with narrow inner gilt liner.
