From the great patina and old crockery feel. This darling duo appear to be quite old. Condition: This charming stoneware set is in very good condition. The glaze does have the usual. But minor, imperfections which include a couple of very small chips at inner edge of coffee pot lid and fleabite chips or flakes on edge of coffee pot spout. The lower portion at bottom of pot is unglazed as is the outside of bowl. The unglazed areas have darkened slightly, most likely from age and handling. The crock bowl has no chips, cracks, or crazing and the wire and wood handle at tached to the crock bowl is in very good sound condition. At bottom of coffee pot and bowl there is a molded"Bohemian" mark. This may have been a salesman sample or perhaps a childs toy. Whichever. A wonderful addition to any vintage collection! Nice luster, looks different in every kind of light. Glaze is nicely variegated- study photos to get the feel and look of this relatively heavy piece(for its size) Does not appear to be missing a lid- the way the opening was made, I do not believe this ever had a lid, at least not a ceramic one that would have been incorporated into the clay design when the piece was hand thrown. Looks like this crock could originate from the Catawba Valley Pottery, but just my opinion. Glaze& form reminds me a little bit of Pewabic Pottery pieces, but not iridescent. Not much wear given its age- glaze has rubbed off in a few small spots around the rim(see photo) but no serious chips or cracks. Bottom is unmarked. All sales are final- no returns. Antique Stoneware Jug A.K. Ballard Burlington. VT Search This is a wondeful RARE A. K. Ballard Burlington. VT 2 Gallon Jug. It is 15 1/2" tall and 29" in circumference, and 8" wide. The top of the jug is 8 1/2" in circumference and 2 3/4"wide. The handle is in pretty good condition although it does have a 1" chip out of it. It is marked: A.K. Ballard. Burlington, VT, 2" Here is a list of the issues: It has 5 chips on the spout. One is 1 3/4" long and the second one is 1"long. The others are 1/4" long or less. There is also a chip on the handle that measures 1/2" wide. It has a beautiful cobalt design and overall it is in pretty good condition for it's age. There are several places where the glazing has flaked off around the middle/bottom, exposing the pottery underneath. I would say ... morethe condition is good but it does have spotting, staining and chipping. There is a surface crack in the glaze that is 6" long and there are about 4 rust stains. Please view all photos as they serve as part of the description. There are two chips on the bottom that are both 1" long. It has some sort of flour/powder on the inside that I have not cleaned out. In the early 1820s. Local tobacconist George Weyman put together a new blend of chew that he called" Copenhagen" snuff. Widely recognized as one of America's earliest consumer products with a brand name. In 1922. Weyman became United States Tobacco; today, Copenhagen is made by the U.S. Smokeless Tobacco Co. Based in Virginia. Even now. The company proudly traces its history back to Weyman's tobacco shop in Pittsburgh. We are pleased to offer this George Weyman’s Copenhagen Snuff Stoneware Crock circa 1800s and Four Miniature Stoneware Crocks. Set of 3 Vintage/Antique Brown Stoneware Cheese and Pickle Crocks
This is a set of 3 old crocks. Two of which have the lids and wire and the one in the center of the photo is missing the lid and wire. All are in great shape but have some light surface chipping on the bottom edge- nothing major at all. Photo 4 shows one of the cheese crocks having a tiny surface nick in the outer rim. The crocks on each side are the cheese crocks and measure 4" tall without the lids. The center pickle crock has the holes in the side for the wire but as stated, it is missing the lid and wire. It measures 3 3/4" tall and has a 4 1/4" base. There are no rings with either. Great for use or just a primitive display! All items are weighed on an accurate US postal scale with an estimated total weight after packaging. This is a Pair of Antique/ Vintage Crocks with Handles& a Lid/ Cover. They have a wonderful brown glaze. Both are marked USA, they have little to no wear and are in really great shape for their age. The Lid will fit on either one of these crocks and this lid has no chips or no cracks. One of the crocks are in better condition than the other, one is in perfect condition, their are no chips or cracks, the bottom is nice and clean. The bottom of the other crock is a little miscolored from cooking and is has a very minor surface chip on the bottom about 1.5" long, nothing that effcts or takes away from this piece, other than that it is great. In good antique or vintage condition with no chips. Or breaks. There is a spider crack on each crock/dish on the inside bottom and they do not appear to go through to the outside.There is a spider crack on one of them that goes down the side and about an inch along the bottom. And it does go through to the outside. I put water in it to see if it would leak. It does have a slow leak. So if you were to plan on purchasing them for a dog or cats dish, that one would be good to put it's dry food in that one. And water in the other one. The small one with 3 stars has a tiny Chip but it is NOT noticeable and can barely be felt. The largest one is 7 inches tall and approximately 18 1/2 inches around at the largest area. Three cobalt stripes. The second one is 5 inches tall and 14 inches around with one large cobalt stripe. The third is adorned with 3 cobalt Stars and Stripes on each side and stands 3 inches tall and 15 inches around. These are beautiful decorative pieces and a must have for the collector. I don't know if the cork is original but it seems to fit well. The cork has a waxy surface on the bottom side. The jar reads: Grand Medal of Merit Vienna 1873. James Keiller& Son's Dundee Orange Marmalade, Only Prize Medal for Marmalade, London. 1862 Great Britain Contents 1 lb. Nett. It possibly dates to around 1890. As you can see in the photo t is an errant blob of ink below the word Britain. The crock has overall crazing. Some darkened areas and a crack on the back side near the rim. It measures a bit over 4.5" high and is 3" in diameter. They were used on the farm to collect the cream that was separated from the milk after the cows were milked. My dad is 80 and he tells me that the brown and cream one was used for guernsey cow milk because they give more cream and the cream colored one was used for holsteins. The BROWN and CREAM colored crock is 1 and 1/2 QUARTS. It is about 4 1/2 inches wide and 5 inches tall. The IVORY CROCK is 1 Quart. It is about 4 inches wide and 4 inches tall. The Ivory crock is a bit thicker than the brown and cream one. Both show no cracks or chips. General wear and tear from use. Stoneware lot For your consideration is a beauitful collection of vintage stoneware crocks. Jugs, jars, etc. They are all in very good to good condition. The whiskey jug stands 11 3/4" high x 6" some paint dollops here and there) the regular crock stands 7" x 7 1/4" and appears solid other than some fleabites out of the INSIDE edge, the little jug stands 4 1/4" high and is 3" in diameter(no apparent flaws) the pot with the lid stands 7 1/2" high and is 6 1/4" in diameter(this piece has a tight crack on the bottom but it has been there a long time and does not show, the lid has one shallow fleabite) and the last jug is lid-less and stands 7" high(there is a tight hairline and a tiny fleabite) They are not perfect, but they display beautifully! The next is an antique Robinson& Ransbottom 3 Gallon Butter Churn that has very crisp Cobalt blue striping and the R&R signature BLUE CROWN with the number 3 in the center indicating the gallon size. This butter churn is in great condition other than the usual minor manufacturing flaws. Dimples and minor crazing, which are quite normal for the age of this piece. The lid is original and is also in good condition. This Churn measures approximately 13 1/2" height x 8 3/4" width at the top outer lip of the rim. Pair of pottery antique primitive crocks with wooden handles and lids. I'm not certain if the larger crock has the original lid. The lid that is on it is not glazed. The larger crock measures approximately 9 1/2 inches tall inclusive of handle. Diameter across bottom is approximately 5 1/4 inches. There is a chip on the bottom please see photos. The smaller crock measures approximately 8 1/2 inches tall by 4 3/4 inches in diameter across bottom. There is a chip on the top near the handle please see photos. Maybe a bidder can give me more information. The dark one is approx 9" h x 5 1/4" d at the very bottom. Lighter brown is approx 7 1/2" h x 5 1/2" at the very bottom Gold on is approx 8 1/2" h x 5" at the very bottom.
