Antique Art Nouveau Bronze Metal Bust of a Woman Mucha
Gorgeous Art Nouveau bust of a young woman. Circa 1900. Her expression is innocent, blithe and wistful at the same time. This is a beautifully decorative antique piece and would make a wonderful display for jewelry as well. I believe this is solid bronze. But am not sure. It is very, very heavy, non-magnetic, and you can see the coppery golden color showing under the dark black brown patina in some areas and the scratches. The base(very bottom piece) is some kind of stone, probably marble. Excellent condition with the exception of some minor surface wear/ tiny scratches. Her nose. For example, has a little mark across it, but it does not deter from the loveliness of the piece. This measures between 12.5" and 13" tall. And the base is 5.75" wide. Antique or vintage bronze baby shoes. They are 4" long. 2" wide and 1 3/4" tall. They are a real pair of shoes covered in bronze, not paint as some are. Up for auction is a truly stunning vintage mantel or shelf clock. Made in the late 1800's in Paris France. This bronze and marble bound clock was designed by P.H. Mourey, who worked with the Japy Freres clock company to produce beautiful timepieces. We believe this clock is from the 1870's. Don't miss out on this gorgeous piece at no reserve! We were not able to get the clock running. But the interior mechanisms look good and the clock does wind up properly. It will need a professional looking at to run at 100% but it looks like it should be a fairly simple fix. The clock and figures are in overall great condition. There are two splits in the marble, as pictured below. One is on the base of the item, another is a hairline crack on the backside. These are not glaringly obvious flaws. This great quality inkstand measures 220mm(8.5' x 170mm(6.5' x 80mm(3' high and weighs 550 grams. The base is made from a gilded bronze or ormolu and has the founders stamp to the underside which as far as I can make out reads" E.D. Vandenhove& Fils Bruxelles" the ceramic inkwell bears a Chantilly French Horn mark but this was used by lots of different factories. It dates to the late 1800's but I am sure with a little research it may be possible to find the exact date and is in good condition with no damage or repairs. Unusual antique miniature inkwell. Heavy cast metal in the form of a little birds nest with three eggs inside entwined in a branch. Complete with original porcelain ink liner which is a small thimble size. Amazing that this has survived and in good condition with no cracks or chips! This item has been used as there is dried ink underneath the lift out liner. What's even more interesting about it is we we have a composition of pottery and metal. I cannot ID the metal, it could be bronze. I know it's not Brass might be Bronze. The handles are very intricate detailed as is the entire composition because it really is a composition and its large and it's a heavy composition. The handles are these dragons with wings and they are floating on the sides. They are not attached to the pottery here. They are just attached to this rim piece that hugs the entire perimeter of the top part of this urn. The artist, and I hope I am pronouncing his name correctly is Hippolyte Boulenger who was the owner of the company. His signatures is on the bottom and the signature reflects an era of 1860. in any event he's given us this texture element throughout the entire urn and on this side I have a fox and on this side I have a Phoenix in bas–relief. The green verdigris patina shows signs of wear on the bottom(from surface contact) Carl Sorensen is noted for his metal wares during the period known as the Arts& Crafts Movement of the early 1900's. This highly stylized pendant was probably fashioned as a central piece in a jeweled necklace or one of numerous hanging pendants suspended from a mid-section belt. The piece was bronze cast using the lost wax method. With the surface now aged to a rich chocolate brown patina, partially covered in an overlaying green malachite oxidation, with remnants of gold lacquer pigment, and minor pitting of the surface. Item description Antique P. F. Corbin"Regal" pattern passage door lock set c.1895. This is a very nice set with a beautiful copper finish on cast bronze. Some of which has worn away creating a dramatic two toned look. The set is in excellent cosmetic and mechanical condition with only a few small signs of wear and age. This set is typical of the high quality hardware produced by Corbin. The pieces are all heavy castings and the reversible mortise lock is far more sophisticated than a standard box. The set includes one bronze faced reversible mortise lock. Two pattern matched knobs and door plates and an original Corbin deadbolt key. Also included is a reconditioned knob spindle with two new set screws. The set screw holes have been deburred so the screws turn in easily. This is a very nice functioning lock set ready to be installed. ... moreThe locks backset is 2 1/2" and the face plate is 5 11/16" tall x 15/16" wide. The door plate are 8 1/4" tall x 2 1/4" wide and the knobs are 2 1/8" in diameter. If your going to spend real money on a vintage lock set you should expect no broken or missing pieces. Item description Antique Corbin bronze passage door lock set c.1881. This is a very nice set in excellent cosmetic and mechanical condition. The pieces of this set have complementary vernacular designs with nice sharp detail. Though Corbin rarely named its patterns. The knobs are listed in the company catalogs as"Gothic" The set has an aged color typical of quality bronze castings and there is minimal discernable wear, except for the strike plate which shows a few small dings. Everything is straight and functional. The reversible mortise lock has strong springs and is in excellent working order. The last photo speaks to the condition of the lock's internal components. The set includes one solid bronze faced mortise lock. Two cast bronze knobs, two cast bronze round knob escutcheons, two cast bronze key hole covers, a difficult ... moreto find matching strike plate and a working vintage deadbolt key.
