Antique Mortar 17 th C Copper Alloy(Bell metal) Spain? Bronze brass. This is a wonderful mortar from the 1700s. Possibly older. This apothecary mortar has a wonderful form and patina. It has very similar proportion to some of the early European mortars in the Metropolitan Museum of Art. It’s patina is more of a deep coppery bronze. In researching this piece. I found that the metal alloy formula a foundry would use to cast bells, would use any extra metal to cast mortars. This seems to make sense, because when the rim of this mortar is tapped it rings like a bell. Also, note the difference of the rounded bottom on the base of the mortar. The mortar was cast in two pieces and them joined and finished, further confirming the age of the piece. It is about 5.5 inches from the tip of one handle to the other. The pestle is solid and heavy. It is approximately 10.5 inches long. The ends of the pestle are approximately 2 inches in diameter. Green felt has been glued to the bottom. I have found no markings on either piece. I purchased this set(along with a nearly identical one I also have listed) from a man who operated a French restaurant.He used these as decorative items in the restaurant in the 1970's. I will carefully wrap this item and ship it in a US Post Office flat rate Priority box.

Each joint of this crayfish is articulated and moves just the way this sea crustacean moves slowly at the bottom of the ocean. There are over 50 moveable joints that was used to create this artistic ... morecreature. The ability to use metal and making articulated animals have been born out of Japanese metalwork tradition. Japanese sword smiths and armor craftsmen had lost jobs after Meiji Restoration in 1868 when the Samurai class was abolished. Using their highly renowned metalwork skills. These craftsmen began making articulated metal sculptures such as crabs, shrimps and insects and their uncanny resemblance to the counterparts in nature had attracted numerous collectors over the past 140+ years. This piece was created by the 51st generation artist Muneyuki Myochin(1917-2011) as it is signed on the piece as well as signed on the box. Considered the last great Japanese armor smith in the Myochin line. His passing will be sorely missed. The condition of this piece is very good and its age is from the 1950's. Here is a very unusual miniature antique table. When we see antique miniature furniture the items are almost always wood. But this little table is bronze. Or possible copper or brass; the patina is such that I cannot tell for sure, but a magnet will not stick to it. The table stands 6.5" high with the top in the up tilted position, and the table top measures approx. 4.25" across. The top looks like an inlaid chess table. We believe the table to be English and dates to the first quarter of the 19th century We purchased this miniature table several years ago. When we had an antiques shop, from a customer who became a very dear friend. She was an older lady who had collected American furniture and folk art for 40+ years, buying many of her items from established antiques dealers in New England. ANTIQUE CAST BRONZE OTTOMAN PORTABLE PEN HOLDER ~ QALAMDAN/DIVIT
This is an old cast bronze portable pen holder with inkwell. It is approximately 10 ¼” in length and it weighs a little over 1 lb. We do not have the expertise to tell you exactly how old it is; however. Based on the examples we have seen we would guess that 150 years old or more is not out of line. It is a product of the Ottoman Empire and likely Turkish. There is a maker’s mark contained in a square lozenge on the spine of the pen holder below the lid(see photos) but we don’t know what it says. It is both mold decorated and engraved. This item is in good original condition given its age as a functional item. The divit has a nice old patina. The body has the usual dings of time as all of these old pen carriers have. PAIR of Antique Bronze Door Strap Hinges 6" by 10" 9 Hole
These hinges are in great condition with moderate signs of use. They are actually 5 7/8" by 9 7/8" and are cast bronze. They have free movement and swing open 180 degrees. The only mark I see is a readable 10 on the back of one. There is some extra metal on one of them that never got trimmed. I'll leave that and the cleaning to you. I notice the hinge pins have little keeper pins to keep them from falling out. All the edges are beveled and I think these would display very nicely. Please email any questions. Thank you.

a stunning french inkwell. The base i believe is marlbe. In very nice condition, no chips or cracks. the swan is possibly spelter with bronze and the little inkwell is cute and is in art deco design. so i presume in the art deco era base measures 32cm x 14cm. Most of the items i sell are vintage and antique so its very hard to be 100% accurate with the description. Antique Victorian Norwalk Pocket Door Lock Set in very good condition circa 1885. Face plates measure 1 1/16" x 7 5/8" Mortise boxes measure 3 1/4" x 5 1/4" x 1/2" and 3 3/4" x 5 1/4" x 1/2" Pop out pulls and lock are in excellent working condition. There are shallow scratches and use marks on the mortise faces. The close up was taken dark to show off the scratches and use marks mostly on the pulls and buttons. SHIPPING: I combine shipping.
