Large Antique Staffordshire Dog White with Gold chains!
I am selling in this auction a very nice pair of old Staffordshire pottery mantle dogs. They are quite large approximately 13" tall. Very heavy. There is minor paint lose. Small vent holes. One dog has a dark chip indicative of the age of the pottery. They still present very nice and the chip is on a area of the dog that is not very visible when they are sitting on a mantle. This auction is for large antique coffee pot. It has beautiful blue flowers handpainted on it along with nice gold gilding. The spout is very beautiful and looks like a dragon design to me. The coffee pot stands 10.5" tall and is 9.5" handle to spout. The coffee pot is in excellent condition with no chips or cracks. I don't believe the lid is original to the pot as it is a little wobbly but looks nice enough. There is a chip to the inside bottom of the lid. All of the items I am listing today are from my wife's mothers collections. She is 88 years old and has been collecting all her life. President Roosevelt White House China - Colonnade Gold
There has been much debate about exactly which Wedgwood China pattern(s) graced the White House as part of the Presidential china collections. To erase any doubt here is the one: a variation on the Colonnade Gold design modified with the addition of the original U.S. Seal as designed by Benjamin Franklin. John Adams and Thomas Jefferson in the center. This is the last set of state china to be made by a foreign firm. It was commissioned for Teddy Roosevelt's administration in 1903. Wedgwood later made this design- minus the centerpiece- available to the masses from 1962 through 1972. See my listings for a double-handled square cake plate in COLONNADE GOLD. This bowl is a reproduction of a fruit/dessert(sauce) bowl from the Roosevelt china. The bowl itself is 5" in diameter by 1" tall. It is in very good condition. The gilding ... morelooks perfect and the centerpiece is precise- an American eagle with a stars& stripes shield holding an olive branch with one foot and arrows on the other. There is a ribbon held in the eagle's beak that unfolds above it with the phrase E PLURIBUS UNIM printed upon it. Above the eagle's head is a circle of clouds with 13 stars inside. Underneath the bowl is marked with a black Portland vase and the words WEDGWOOD BONE CHINA MADE IN ENGLAND plus the pattern name COLONNADE and number W4339 printed in gold. This particular Wedgwood logo appears on china made from 1974 through 1998. Beneath this trademark is a profile of Josiah Wedgwood encircled by the words THE WEDGWOOD COLLECTORS SOCIETY.
