Heavy Old Nautical Wall Mounted Brass Kerosene Lamp
Very heavy– especially the base– old brass kerosene lamp. 8 ½” tall, 3 ½” across the base. It will stand alone, but is fitted with substantial pegs high on two sides that fit into angled slots of a wall-mounted bracket, and would presumably remain upright in an ocean swell. How far it would swing would of course depend on the height of the chimney. The wick is clean; the mechanism works smoothly; the dome at the top is signed with a‘T’ over‘M’ The surface has darkened fairly uniformly. Very good condition. There are a couple of dents, fortunately, given the dark color of the surface, not very visible. The more obvious one is a linear 1” dimple. No cracks, corrosion, scratches, or repair. As I havent seen one like it, vintage iron brass finished fireplace set with matching smudge pot/ember can and wand handle for hot can, can would have been used to hold embers for transfer to a bed warmer. Wall mounted tool holder looks great from the front but does have some rust on the backside of it. The rust hasnt threatened the integrity of the mount but instead of scraping it myself I will leave that up to the new owner. Poker has both a poker and a hook. Broom bristles have some wear but barely noticeable. Hate to sell this as I have been hanging on to it for years hoping I would someday have a cabin to put it in, but doesnt look like that will happen, so might as well let someone get some enjoyment out of it. A really pretty genuine original Victorian wall mounted oil lamp complete with an excellent shade. The bracket is wrought iron with decorative leaves and a tendril. It has been lightly cleaned and comes complete with the original smoke bell. The original drop in fount is copper with a centre draught burner by'Lampe Belge' The burner has a good lifting mechanism and it's original small shade gallery. There is wick but it requires a flame spreader- very easy to make. Just a penny sized disc on a short rod. The shade is a superb and in perfect condition. It has two repeating etched panels of intricate flowers and leaves. The base is 3 inches. Overall height of the complete lamp is 24 inches with a projection of about 9 inches. You will be shipped the light you see in the above photos. This original cast brass nautical bulkhead light weighs about 7 pounds. From the top of the wall mount to the bottom of the cage it measures 10 inches tall. When mounted to the wall it will extend out from the wall by 7 inches. The back side of the junction box has two mounting lugs that are 4 1/2 inches on center of each other. The original glass globe is free of any damage. This light has been totally rewired with all new UL-Listed parts rated for any ... morevoltage of 250 volts or less. The new bulb holder takes a normal screw in house bulb of 75 watts or less. This light can be used for interior or exterior projects. It will never rust. The new wiring terminates inside the junction box on the back side of the light. The cage screws on and off freely. One side of the top housing of the light has a dent as seen in the attached photos. This is a used light that was recovered during one our many different salvage operations. Vintage Western Electric Telephone, Wood Body, Wall Mounted, Coin Slots
I am in no way a vintage telephone collector or expert- I just bought this one a couple of years ago because I thought it looked cool and I wanted to use it as a display piece. The pictures really need to tell the story on this one. Whoever owned it before put new works inside of it(see photo front of phone opened) because it does have a standard jack wire and I did plug it in and get a dial tone. I you are a purest I'm sure you can put the original works back into it without too much difficulty. Like I said. It caught my eye because it is wooden with coin slots which I had never seen before and haven't seen since. The two brass bells on the top add to the nostalgic look and the corner joinery is masterful. I note that the phone has brass hardware EXCEPT for the hook piece that holds the handset. I don't know if the chrome colored ... morepiece is a replacement or if this model of phone actually came with two different hardware finishes. The underside of the handset says Bell System Manufactured by Western Electric. I believe the wood that the body is made out of is oak and it is very heavy. The whole unit weighs in at 10.5 lbs. All of the writing on the dial and plates can be clearly seen in my photos. The plug in jack can be seen in the last photo. It is a long wire but I have it stuffed down into the body. D ISCLOSURE. Vintage Lux brand wall clock. Has a starburst pattern on the face and it does work fine. It is made of plastic and is in fair condition for it's age.
