The statue is made ... morefrom a very dark. Hard wood and it does have some damage– the legs are missing and there is some general damage here and there. But this rare piece is extremely old– dating to the 1700s or earlier. It comes from an old Italian Church and it was brought here to the United States after World War II. The story the family has about the piece is that grandpa was stationed in Italy and the statue was found in the rubble of an bombed out church. I can’t comfirm the story but this is a very old, original statue and they did in fact have a grandpa stationed in Italy during the war. The figure measures about 24" tall so it is rather large. The table cover has an Stickley. Arts and Craft Deco look to it with a floral design done in embroidery floss. The square table cover embroidery floss colors are red. Yellow, green and black. The table cover is nicely finished with a scallop finish on the outer edges. Table Doily cover measurements: 24” x 24” approximately. Tablecloth condition: Good pre-owned condition with some imperfections. There are 11 small spots where the red embroidery thread on the outer scallop edges is missing. I have purchased red embroidery thread and am including the embroidery floss with purchase should the buyer wish to repair it in the future(see photos 6 and 7) The shade of green embroidery ... morefloss is an olive green front side and a darker green on the reverse side(see photos 11 and 12) On the reverse side you can see that there has been color bleeding to the green floss. I did not find this to be noticeable on the front side of the table doily cover. The tablecloth is in"as found" condition and I have not cleaned the table cloth because of the mends required. This is a wonderful middle eastern solid silver CUP Possibly from Iraq or Iran( Persia) The details on the cup! 2 palm trees. A House. Sailboats are typical scenes in Al- forat RIVER in IRAQ The cup's handle is very well made and there is what looks like a falco on the top. The whole cup is very well made and it appears to be hand made. The weight is 64 GERAMS WIDTH 7.8 CM HEIGHT: 3.4 CM there are no hallmarks on this wonderful Cup as is normal whit early middle eastern silver although they are similar to sterling silver@ 925 purity/ compound. I am not sure of the exact date when this fantastic item was made but it does feel 1940's and possibly earlier. It's in very good condition. And no dents or broken bits.
