This antique compass is from WWI and is in working condition. It is marked LITENITE. Short& Mason, Taylor, Rochester, NY, PAT. APR. 20-1915. It is set in a nickel case and has a brass inner setting. It has not been polished or cleaned~that will be left to the new owner to decide if they want the antique to remain in it's beautiful condition or to restore to it's previous luster. The face plate rotates to orientation perfectly when the screw stem is loosened. The glass crystal is original to the piece and is free from knicks or scratches. It measures approximately 1 3/4" in diameter and 3/8" H. A true piece of history! Payment is due within 24 hours of auction ending. A ca.1961 Taylor Divers Wrist Compass. Taylor was a well known company in Rochester. New York. Diameter: 2 1/4" across. Depth: 1 1/4" Weight: 4.3 ounces. Only the main cardinal points are marked by a letter. The numbers in the middle positions are marked by dashes and dots. The strap is in great shape. The buckle is not torn and there are no splits or breaks. The plastic dome over the compass is original. It has some scuffs and scratches but nothing that affects the presentation and use of this nice old vintage piece.

VTG Taylor Compass Corrector Pelorus Navigation Up for sale is a Vintage Taylor Compass Corrector Pelorus Navigation Instrument. There are two pins included. This Vintage Pelorus shows signs of wear due to scuffs and scrapes. Overall Good condition for being 50 plus years old. It appears to be in full working order. We found the following information on a website that had information regarding the Collection of Military Compasses. It said: Copyrighted in 1961 by the Taylor Instrument Co. of Rochester. NY, this navigation tool was a must-have for sailors. Gimbal-mounted. It tilts in any direction and remains horizontal even when its support is tipped. In appearance and use. A pelorus ... moreresembles a compass, with sighting vanes or a sighting telescope attached, but it has no magnets or independent directive properties. That is, it remains at any relative direction to which it is set. It is generally used by setting 000° at the lubber's line. Relative bearings are then observed. They can be converted to bearings true, magnetic, grid, etc. by adding the appropriate heading. The direct use of relative bearings is sometimes of value. A pelorus is useful, for instance, in determining the moment at which an aid to navigation is broad on the beam. Blue"arrow& moon" needle(used on Taylor models) and classic pocket watch styling. Beautiful numerals and lettering on what appears to be a brass face. Has a patent date of"Jan 8, 1918" printed on face, along with manufacturer's name Dimensions: compass face/crystal- 1 1/2" in diameter• compass case- 1 3/4" in diameter Condition: Some light surface corrosion but should clean up nicely. Vintage Taylor Gydawl Compass from the early 1940's. Compass is the open face version and was made in Rochester. NY. It is Model No. 2940. It has a diameter of 52mm, height of 13 mm and weighs approximately 70 grams. It is primarily made of aluminum and has a magnetic needle with N-shaped cut out on the North side. Box is torn on each side and has a musty odor. The glass crystal seems to be free of any nicks or scratches. Please view all photos as they are part of my description. A VERY NICE ORNATE ANTIQUE TAYLOR POCKET COMPASS FROM THE 1920'S 1930S WITH A POCKET WATCH TYPE CASE. THE ORNATE EDGES ON THIS ARE VERY NICE COMPARED TO MOST POCKET COMPASSES. THIS ONE IS CALLED TE GYDAWL AND IT OPENS SHUTS AND WORKS FINE. THERE IS OBVIOUS WEAR THROUGH THE FINISH FROM YEARS OF IN AND OUT OF THE POCKET AND THERE IS A SLIGHT CHIP IN THE CORNER OF THE GLASS CASE WHICH DOES NOT INTERFERE WITH SEEING THE COMPASS AT ALL. Vintage 1958 TAYLOR Marine Compass No 2965 USA Rochester NY w Box Instructions
Offered for your consideration is a: Vintage 1958 Marine Compass TAYLOR MARINE BOATING COMPASS Model 2965 Taylor Marine Compass Pre owned. Good condition, light wear marks from use, included is the Marine compass with black metal housing and plastic face plate, metal mounting bracket, original box, box poor condition missing the top, Taylor installation and compensating instructions, light bulb with red shield for night use. Compass measures approximately 4 1/2 inches tall. 5 inches to bottom of the bracket and 3 1/2 inches across The original mounting bracket thumb tightening screws are included but damaged. The mounting braket is currently attached to the compass using phillips head screws. The compass is sitting loose in the metal housing, side tightening screws are not locking it in place, selling as is. For use or addition to your vintage ... morenautical collection. Old compass. The latch used to work but now it won't lock, so i am not sure why? Its accurate and has a real cool looking arrow, the end had a moon shape and it looks dandy.
