Comes out and revels a space for carrying extra batteries and bulbs. The latches on the box have light corrosion please see the pictures. The face of the exterior and interior of the compass show some age as well. The compass is in working condition. The contacts for the flashlight need cleaned. The bulb does not appear to be burnt out and did not have the batteries to test the flashlight but all of the parts are there. I think the interior contacts will need cleaned before the light will work. The leather strap old and may or may not need replaced. Very good condition overall for age. Compass works great. The outer box and compass need a good cleaning because they have have dust. And the compass has some spots on the metal band near the top. The box and compass have light scuffing/scratching/spotting normal with age and use-it would be impossible to describe every little imperfection. This compass is by Saura Keiki Seisakusho Co. Ltd. Tokyo, Japan. It is marked Type B-100. It sitswas used on a Down East Maine Lobster boat. It does appear to give accurate readings at this time. So needs no servicing or adjustment. Appears to be no leaks or chips or cracks altho it does show wear from being at sea for years. I am selling it AS-IS however.
