ALUMINUM PRISMATIC COMPASS FOR BALLOON AND AIRCRAFT NAVIGATION
This is a Cary. London England, Prismatic Compass made for balloon and airplane navigation. It is constructed of aluminum for light weight, has filters for different atmospheric conditions, and has an adjustible mirror so the pilot can target a terrestrial landmark and still keep the compass level so the dial is free to move and indicate direction. This is the epitome of old school point to point navigation. The instrument is in mint condition and is beautifully made. It is 4 inches X 1.25 inches. I would guess it was manufactured sometime between 1890 and 1930, and is protected by a leather case, also in mint condition. The photos don't do it justice.

This Vintage Pelorus shows signs of wear due to scuffs and scrapes. Overall Good condition for being 50 plus years old. It appears to be in full working order. I missed taking a picture of the bar that has the wire down the center but it is there and this is really in great complete condition. Belonged to a gentleman that was a Captain of a ship long time ago.It is in the original wood box with the original Lionel Corporation Azimuth Circle plaque on it. I do not know if this was used in U S Navy in WWII but it is of that area made in 1942.
