Own a piece of nostalgia with this Magnapole compass! The compass measures 1 5/8" across and 2 3/8" including the bow. This piece seems to be loose and the hand moves freely.but I'm not sure how to adjust it to point to magnetic North. It seems to point correctly. Then will spin around another direction. It is a very cool looking piece and would be great for decoration, however, I think it would probably work if adjusted or tinkered with by someone who knows what they are doing!

Vintage C Plath Germany Brass Nautical Compass in Wooden Box NICE
You are bidding on an neat vintage compass from C Plath of Hamburg Germany. This compass is set in brass and in a lovely wooden box with brass inlaid accents. The compass works perfectly and could use a light cleaning. There is a teeny black spec under the glass in the white center piece of the compass- hardly noticeable but mentioning it for accuracy. The one box hinge is slightly off which causes the lid to be slightly ajar. It does close and latch as it should. The compass measures about 3 3/4 inches wide. The box is 4 1/2 inches wide. 4 1/2 inches long and 3 3/4 inches tall. There is damage to the felt lining in the inside top- I think there may have been a plaque there at one time. It’s about 2.5 inches in diameter and stands 7/8 inches high with the cover on. The grid squares in the pictures are 2 inches. The sighting leaves function perfectly and when the smaller one is folded down. It activates a lever that secures the needle for traveling. The removable cover closes up securely. THIS IS A REALLY NEAT ANTIQUE SHIP'S COMPASS. THIS PIECE CAME FROM A WWI ESTATE AUCTION IN UPSTATE NEW YORK. I DID FIND ONE OTHER OF THE EXACT SAME COMPASS CURRENTLY LISTED ON EBAY AS WW2. SO I AM NOT SURE WHICH WAR THIS HISTORIC PIECE IS FROM. THE COMPASS IS FLOATING IN WATER AND IN GREAT CONDITION. THE GLASS HAS A COUPLE OF LIGHT SCRATCHES. BUT IS STILL VERY CLEAR-NOT FOGGY OR HARD TO READ. THIS PIECE IS MADE OUT OF HEAVY THICK STEEL WITH WHAT LOOKS LIKE A COATING OVER THE METAL TO KEEP IT FROM RUSTING. THERE IS A DOOR THAT OPENS TO REVEAL GEARS WITH KNOBS. THAT ALLOWED THE SAILORS TO CALIBRATE THE COMPASS. THE GEARS ARE ALSO EXPOSED FROM THE BOTTOM. THE DOOR HAS TWO TINY HOLES WHERE THERE WAS ONCE A PLAQUE WITH THE NAVY INFO, BUT UNFORTUNATELY IT IS NO LONGER THERE. THERE ARE NAUTICAL TERMS STAMPED INTO THE METAL.
