Up for auction a Vintage 1967 Masketeers map. This is a authentic piece however it replicates The 1600's World Globe Map and is Brass Chipboard Wall Art. This Beautiful Masketeer World Map is in very good condition for its age with minor scuffs. And has some minor surface rust on the brass. I started to clean it up and the rust does come off with ease. I do not have the appropriate brass cleaner so i will leave it up to the new owner. For an original from 1967 this chipboard is in unbeliveble condition and who ever previously own it took oustanding care of it. Rivers, etc. Various scales on the face give readings that can be converted to miles or kilometers or even nautical miles and. Unusually, a detailed and accurate compass is on the other side. The latter is marked with the 8 cardinal points and the bearing in 1 degree steps. Plus the deviation between geographic and magnetic North poles are marked. This compass says it was made in Germany. Appears to be chrome and has some sort of little wheel on the bottom that I was told was run across a map to get a reading on how many miles or kilometers or centimeters to kilometers were being tracked on it. The chrome is needing polishing and there is no glass in either side of the compass.not sure if there was glass. The paper on both sides is clean and pretty clean. Side one has: statute miles, nautical miles and 1 inch to 1 mile with a single arm that moves as the wheel is run over the map. As you can see in the pictures. For sale in this auction is a compass/map measurer(inches to miles& cm to km) that is made in Germany. Just flip the compass and the other side is used as a map measurer. It shows the usual cosmetic wear and tear that is seen in vintage items. There is rust on the compass arrow but arrow appears to function regardless. The map wheel also functions where the needle moves as the wheel moves. Complete with original leather case and instructions. The leather case measures about 3 1/4" X 2 1/4" It's a compass on one side. Just flip the compass and the other side is used as a map measurer.
