Pair Primitive Painted Wood Architectural Columns White & Gold Decoration
Pair of Painted Wood Architectural Columns Old estate find. These are two short columns that were taken from a house and re-purposed as decorative wood pieces- would work great as candle holders by attaching a small metal disc to the top to hold a pillar candle. Nicely Painted with gold decorative detail. Both has a flat rough unpainted piece on the back where they were attached. And one has a large crack down the back(see picture) does not show on the front and does not affect structure. Antique Ornate Carved Wood Architectural Salvage Column Top Or Display Shelf
This is a beautiful antique ornate carved wood architectural salvage column top which can also be used as a display shelf. I'm fairly certain it dates from the late 19th century. 1880s or 1890s. It measures 7 7/8 inches tall(20 cm) Depending on which you call the top or the bottom. One measures 12 5/8 inches x 5 1/2 inches(32 cm x 14 cm) and the other measures 8 1/2 inches x 3 1/4 inches(21.6 cm x 8.3 cm) Given its many fleur de lis and the way it was made. I believe it's French. There are no nails, only glue, wood pegs and splining. There is a 1 inch(2.54 cm) x 1/4 inch(63 cm) chipped off piece of wood in the center a few inches from the top(or bottom) One of the large pieces of carving in the corner has a scrape to the front(please see photo) Other than this. There are a few dents, nicks, chips, scratches, scuff marks and age-related ... morecracks. But overall, it's a great looking piece and is very sturdy. I took most of the photographs with the large part on the bottom. But it can be used either way. It weighs 3 pounds 7 1/2 ounces(1.57 kg)

Has some weight to it(20 lbs) and is 45' high with the square sections measuring 4 3/4' across. The post stands by itself and is level. The floor in my butler's pantry of our 100+ year old house is way off, not the column. There are a couple of places where there is a crack although solid and nothing moving. There is a'slice' out of the top ball as shown. All of these flaws are fixable if desired.
