There are 2 Newel posts, the housed and open stringer(very thick) all the shaped, not square ballusters and all the handrails, even the trim that goes in between the ballusters. These all have white paint over them. But can easily be restored. I have restored many of my own items, and I know how beautiful these stairs will look. They would cost a fortune to find a solid piece of oak this large! I also have tons of door and window trim, and doors too. It is stamped no less than 12 times with an Egyptian hallmark from the early 20th century(see photos) It stands on a base of five leaves. And the body is decorated with flowers and leaves. The screw-top spout is fitted at the lower end with three branches, each pierced with leaves and mounted with a dove. The top of the spout is also mounted with another dove. Each dove is stamped with a maker's mark, the spout is stamped twice, each of the three leaves of the spout are stamped near the bottom, and the body is stamped near the top, base, and underneath the base(the photos show some of the stamps, with a close-up of the clearest one) The repeated stamping indicate the pride and quality ... moreof this piece. This type of item was commonly used by Sephardic Jews for Besamim during the Havdalah ceremony. Very old piece that came out of a Hollywood Estate. There are some condition issues one of the bamboo handles has split/broken(there are three bamboo on each side that are the handles. One of these is cracked) some of the wood piping is coming of and needs to be secured.There is normal wear and tear on an item of this age some of the wood has cracked 9due to shrinking and expansion) The painting on it is in great detail but is dark would need to be restored. all that said this piece is a piece of history and depicts traditional chinese illustrations.
