Antique Solid Wood Staircase Newel Post Column Architectural Salvage This antique staircase column came from a public building in PA. It is in solid condition. Has some weight to it(20 lbs) and is 45' high with the square sections measuring 4 3/4' across. The post stands by itself and is level. The floor in my butler's pantry of our 100+ year old house is way off, not the column. There are a couple of places where there is a crack although solid and nothing moving. There is a'slice' out of the top ball as shown. All of these flaws are fixable if desired. FOR AUCTION: AN ANTIQUE WOOD NEWEL POST. THIS MEASURES APPROX: 46 INCHES TALL. IT IS APPROX: 5 3/4 INCHES WIDE AT THE BASE. THE BASE SQUARE IS APPROX: 10 1/4 INCHES TALL BEFORE THE TURNING. THE FINIAL BALL IS APPROX: 4 1/2 INCHES. THE POST HAS BEEN STRIPPED AT SOME POINT AND NEVER REFINISHED. PLEASE VIEW ALL PHOTOS FOR CONDITION.
