We are not certain but believe he was a Bishop. This is a"Chasuble" which is the outermost liturgical vestment worn by clergy for the celebration of the Eucharist in Western-tradition Christian Churches that use full vestments. The chasuble measures about 43 inches long from the top of the collar to bottom hem. It has the old style"bell-shape" to it. The material is a creamish white linen-blend? like material. The chasuble is embroidered with art deco lines and"IHS" ... morewhich of course stands for In His Service. This robe is vintage and used. It would benefit from a dry cleaning. We have not done so. There is some wear consistent with age and being worn. This wear might be found in frayed material, frayed trim, etc. There are quite a few spots/stains on this piece and yellowing around the collar. This chasuble has a makers tag that says: Vanpoulles Ltd. London, SWI. And another tag that says Made in France. It appears to have a good age to it. Nine White Stoles Vestment Lot
White Stoles with Orange Tips Vestment Lot This is a nice old stole lot. they are in good condition. They are probably from the 70s or 80s. There are nine in the lot. They are made of a heavy fabric. That is cream in color with orange fabric decoration at the ends. There is a string at the neck to hold them in place. There are some very minor markings on one or two of them, but this is hardly noticeable and overall this is a great lot. The length is 4 feet, one inch and the width of each is 5 inches. 1962 Missale Romanum This is a beautiful old missal. In Green with lovely gold inlay in the binding. The binding is completely intact with only some very. Very minor signs of usage. The edges of the pages are in gold and the leather tabs in red and green are all in place and in great condition. The pages inside are all very nice and show no sign of usage. This is also the case for the ribbons used to mark the pages which are in great condition. This is an older missal, but I'm not actually sure if it was ever really used, perhaps occasionally and it has been stored in a safe location so there is no other damage. This stole has no stains or spills and is clean except it is heavily soiled around the collar and I think my last picture shows that. I don't attempt to clean any of these but would think a tooth brush with soap and water should do it. It measures 46" from top to bottom and is 4 1/2" wide at the bottom and 2 1/2" at the top.
