REAL PHOTO Triptych- Yosemite National Park. CALIFORNIA: Yosemite National Park is a United States National Park spanning eastern portions of Tuolumne, Mariposa and Madera counties in the central eastern portion of the U.S. state of California. The park, which is managed by the National Park Service, covers an area of 761,268 acres(3,080.74 km2) and reaches across the western slopes of the Sierra Nevada mountain chain. Over 3.7 million people visit Yosemite each year: most spend their time in the seven square miles(18 km2) of Yosemite Valley. Designated a World Heritage Site in 1984, Yosemite is internationally recognized for its spectacular granite cliffs, waterfalls, clear streams, Giant Sequoia groves, and biological diversity. Almost 95% of the park is designated wilderness. Yosemite was central to the development of the national park ... moreidea. First, Galen Clark and others lobbied to protect Yosemite Valley from development, ultimately leading to President Abraham Lincoln signing the Yosemite Grant in 1864. Later, John Muir led a successful movement to establish a larger national park encompassing not just the valley, but surrounding mountains and forests as well- paving the way for the United States national park system. Yosemite is one of the largest and least fragmented habitat blocks in the Sierra Nevada, and the park supports a diversity of plants and animals. The park has an elevation range from 2,127 to 13,114 feet(648 to 3,997 m) and contains five major vegetation zones: chaparral/oak woodland, lower montane forest, upper montane forest, subalpine zone, and alpine. Of California's 7,000 plant species, about 50% occur in the Sierra Nevada and more than 20% within Yosemite. There is suitable habitat or documentation for more than 160 rare plants in the park, with rare local geologic formations and unique soils characterizing the restricted ranges many of these plants occupy. The geology of the Yosemite area is characterized by granitic rocks and remnants of older rock. About 10 million years ago, the

Magic Lantern Glass Slide Size: 3 1/4" X 4" Specific Issues/Conditions(if any) Please see the seller's notes above(if any) General Conditions: I do not typically mention defects which are clearly visible in the pictures. Flash marks or back lighting may create a bright white area or other reflections not in the actual slide(often a reflection of the camera) Glass may be dusty or have smudge marks or other dirt on it(I do not usually attempt to clean before selling) and the glass may have minor scratches. Surface abrasions, or oxidation. There may be minor oxidation between the sheets of glass. Some small specks or small scratches may be present in the slide image itself. There may be writing, scribbles, or other marks on labels on the slide(see pictures) In some cases there may be a label on the reverse side which is not shown. ... moreThere can be small nicks on the edges or corners of the glass and also small scratches on the glass which I might not call out. Lovely Spring Cherry Blossom& Garden Scene! The marvelous work is by the great Watanabe Nobukazu(Japanese. C. 1872-1944) He is best known for his charming triptychs, such as this attractive one of a group of women enjoying a Spring day. Lovely triptych depicting a group of ladies enjoying a Spring day on a verandah overlooking a beautiful garden dotted with blossoming cherry trees. In the center. A woman dances, gracefully waving a fan as four musicians accompany her on drums, flute, and shamisen. On the right, a mother sits on the edge of the verandah. Her young child leans over her shoulder, reaching eagerly for the toys next to her. In the far right foreground a woman pauses to listen while hanging a poem slip on a flowering cherry branch. In the distance a small waterfall flows into a large pond where koi are seen playing. A tall ... morehill, with steps leading to the top, rises in the right background. There is wonderful detail in the garden setting. A charming and colorful scene. This would be a superb choice for any discerning collector. It is truly a classic triptych from the golden age of ukiyo-e. Matted and framed. This triptych would make a stunning presentation by itself or as an impressive addition to an arrangement with other prints. It is one you will be proud to display in your home or office and is bound to become a cherished family heirloom. Stunning Portrayal of the Legend of Tametomo& the Giant Fish! Utagawa Kuniyoshi. Japanese, 1797-1861) was one of the greatest of the ukiyo-e artists. He was active in the Edo Period during the final years of the Tokugawa shogunate. His work was diverse and covered a broad range of subjects such as this fantastic dynamic shipwreck and rescue triptych. The original of this scene was painted c. 1851-1852. This rare triptych is considered to be one the best of Kuniyoshi’s masterpieces. In this image Kuniyoshi portrays the legend of Tametomo. His wife, and his son being shipwrecked when their boat founders in a storm and they are set upon by a giant fish. The despondent Tametomo is on the verge of suicide when he is rescued by ghostly, winged“tengus” sent by an ancestral spirit. The“tengus” stabilize his boat and pacify the fish, saving the ... morefamily so that Tametomo’s son, cradled in the arms of the man astride the fish, can one day become king of Okinawa. This reprint would be a superb choice for any collector. It is truly a classic image from the golden age of ukiyo-e. It was made from meticulously recarved wooden blocks using exactly the same technique– and with the same excellent detail and rich color– as the original. Desirable Beauty Triptych Snow Scene This marvelous triptych was created by Kunisada(Japanese. 1787-1865) He was one of the most popular and most prolific of all the great Japanese ukiyo-e artists. Kunisada, the son of an affluent merchant. Was born in Honjo, an eastern district of Edo. Present-day Tokyo. At the age of fifteen he joined the famous art school of Utagawa Toyokuni I. After his master’s death, Kunisada began calling himself Toyokuni III. From the beginning, Kunisada was a trendsetter in the art of the Japanese woodblock print. Always at the vanguard of his time, and in tune with the tastes of the public, he continuously developed his style and did not adhere to the constraints set by any of his contemporaries. In 1807 he produced his first illustrated book. In 1808 he published his first series of actor prints. I MUST GO DOWN TO THE SEAS AGAIN, TO THE LONELY SEA AND THE SKY, AND ALL I ASK IS A TALL SHIP AND A STAR TO STEER HER BY. ITEM DESCRIPTION: This is an original triptych in watercolor depicting the last voyage of the ill fated wanderer whaling ship out of New Bedford. Massachusetts. Shows three views of the ship. Under glass in a wood frame. Unsigned. The art work is in very good condition, it has never been removed from the frame. There is a small stain on the right side and what could be marks on the interior glass, under the center ship. The frame shows wear. This is the story of the fate of The Wanderer: On August 24th. The Wanderer anchored just west of Mishaum Ledge bell buoy to await a more favorable wind. No one was aware of a large tropical system making its way up the eastern seaboard that would pass just south of Cape Cod. By 10 ... moream August 25th very heavy squalls and gale force winds were battering the Wanderer from the northeast. The anchor chain parted, and although a second anchor was dropped, the vessel was driven across the mouth of the Bay onto the rocks of Cuttyhunk. Wedged high on the rocks, the vessel was a total loss. Wreckers salvaged provisions, whaling gear, sails, boats, the figurehead and many other items before a second storm on September 30th completely broke up the hull. The Wanderer’s mizzen mast stood as a flag pole in Shipyard Park until 1964 when lighting brought it down. Today it hangs in the Carriage House of the Mattapoisett Historical Society. Each panel 10.75" x 16" 32.25" x 16" overall Condition: Very Good. Minor flaws as shown(see photos) Impression: Fine. Excellent registration, solid key lines and good texture Color: VG. Between the province of Awa on the island Shikoku and Awaji island, had already featured as the them of a print in the series Famous Views in the Sixty-odd Provinces. Here the composition ... moreis horizontal. Panoramic, while the vertical image was more in the nature of a close-up. The mass of the whirlpools here are often regarded as flowers, in accordance with an interpretation of this series of triptychs as variations on the theme of Snow, Moon and Flowers. In early impressions, the horizon is indicated at right by a thin line; this is missing from later impressions. It is impossible to determine whether this was the result of accidental damage to the block or whether the horizon line was deliberately cut out of the block. ABOUT HIROSHIGE Hiroshige was born in old Edo(present-day Tokyo) in 1797. During the latter part of the Edo period(1603-1868) He was the son of Andou Gen'emon, a fire watchman in the famed Edo Fire Brigade. His childhood name, Tokutaro, was changed to Juemon upon reaching adulthood, and changed again when he was fifty to Tokubei. Hiroshige was his"studio surname" bestowed upon him by his painting master Toyohiro when young Hiroshige was fifteen and had just entered his master's school. Hiroshige was orphaned in his twelfth year and succeeded to his father's post as fireman, studying painting all the while. For fourte

These are three framed Soviet Union posters from the late 1980s. It shows the flags of all fifteen Soviet republics. With a caption that reads in Russian: fifteen republics forming one, the Soviet is our state. They are framed behind glass in gold metal frames. Each one measures 38 1/4" high by 26" wide. They are very heavy, which is why I'm not going to ship them. One of the corners is completely torn off. Shown in the 6th picture. The middle poster has a white spot on the top of the center flag- I think the paper just got worn off. There's a tear or crease in the bottom of the center poster, shown in the 5th picture. In general, they look great from a few feet away, but if you look at them closely, you can tell they are old paper posters that once hung on a dorm wall with no protection before they were framed. They are ... morefrom my non-smoking home. If you like this kind of thing(they'd look great displayed in the right modern decor) If you have a connection to the Soviet Union, or if you just need a birthday present for Volodye, I think they'd work. I'd deliver them in Marin county.
