A rare and highly desirable original from the estate of a prominent Japanese collector. This exciting original triptych is from the estate of a prominent Japanese collector. It is a masterpiece by the great Utagawa Kuniyoshi. Japanese, 1797-1861) and was printed in 1836, well over a century and three quarters ago. Kuniyoshi was active in the Edo Period during the final years of the Tokugawa shogunate. His work was diverse and covered a broad range of subjects including his superb warrior prints such as this dynamic one. The great battle of Ishibashiyama was fought on September 14. 1180, on Kite Cliff at Ishibashiyama in Izu Province between the several thousand-man army of Taira no Kiyomori and a few hundred men of Minamoto Yoritomo who was attempting to return from exile to claim the throne. As the battle progressed and he was being sounded ... moredefeated, Yoritomo sought refuge and hid in the hollow tree trunk on the left side of the triptych with seven of his men. He was eventually spirited away to safety by a spy he had embedded in the Taira army. The violence of war rages throughout the scene. In the center panel a Taira commander sits astride his black horse, with the butterfly“mon” or crest of the Taira clan carried behind him, as he urges his troops forward. In the right panel two warriors tumble down the cliff, defeated by the enemy above. A stunning illustration of one of Japan’s most important battles and a unique opportunity for the samurai enthusiast. This is truly a classic image from the golden age of ukiyo-e. It would be a superb choice for any collector. Matted and framed. This triptych would make a stunning presentation by itself or would be an impressive addition to an arrangement with other prints. It is one you will be proud to display in your home or office and is bound to become a cherished family heirloom. Utagawa Kuniyoshi’s masterworks are in the collections of many of the world’s great museums. Among them are the Metropolitan Museum of Art. New York; the Museum of Fine Arts. Boston; the

Japanese Ukiyo-e style woodblock print from the 19th century with portraits of what are probably Kabuki actors. I'm not an expert. But research leads me to believe it is by Kunisada(later Toyokuni III) who lived from 1786 to 1865. I base this on the large body of his work, the style of the woodblock, and the presence of the Toshidama seals characteristic of his work. The colors are vivid, and the condition good considering its age. It consists of three separate prints which were attached to form a triptych at some time in the past. I purchased it in northern Japan in the early 1970s. Overall size is about 13 1/2 inches by 29 inches. It will wrapped and boxed for shipment to ensure there's no damage. 16.RcmdId ViewItemDescV4,RlogId p4%60bo7%60jtb9%3Feog4d71f%2B%3E16%3E-1485af1e768-0x110-

Quality lithograph of Fenway Park by noted sports artist Andy Jurinko done for Bill Goff Inc. GoodSports.com. This was the first painting commisioned by Goff for his ballpark series. And the edition of 500 plus 50 Artist Proofs sold out in a matter of weeks. The original painting was done in three panels. Hence the"Triptych. It measured 60" high and 102" long, and sold several years ago for $25, 000.00 after the buyer saw it on display at Mickey Mantle's Restaurant on New York Cities Central Park South. The lithograph is an exact copy of the original painting. It is a beautiful sunny Sunday in Boston. July 19, 1987 to be exact, and the Red Sox are hosting the Oakland A's. Curt Young is on the mound having just delivered a pitch to future Hall of Famer Wade Boggs. The view is a panoramic look from the first base lower ... morelevel, and the whole ballpark is visible. The iconic Citgo sign is visable over the Green Monster(pre monster seats) in left field, as is the Lite beer sign. The entire outfield wall is visible, including the manual scoreboard at the bottom of the monster, showing it is the bottom of the eighth inning with the Red Sox trailing 3-2. The electronic scoreboard atop the right field bleachers shows a count of two balls and two strikes on Boggs. It also displays the entire Boston batting order. Ads for Budweiser, Gillette, Coca-Cola, NYNEX! Marlboro, and Chunky Chunky are clearly visable. Future Hall of Famer Jim Rice is in the on deck circle should Boggs get on base. There are light puffy clouds in the blue sky. The ballpark is jammed to the rafters, as it appears not a single fan has left the game. Upon your initial view you would swear this was a photograph, the details are that perfect. The garage door and the 420 foot sign are both clearly visable in the triangle in right center field, the deepest part of the ballpark. The American flag in centerfield, right in front of the Peachtree sign and to the right of thr light tower, shows a stiff breeze blowing from right field to left.
Yoshiiku Utagawa Japanese Woodblock Print Triptych c.1860 Edo Samurai War This extremely rare and original triptych by Yoshiiku Utagawa(1833-1904) Titled'Yamana Hosokawa Kakushitsuno Zu, ca. 1860, based on the stamp of Aratame-In seal with the character apparently for Monkey in a circle. The prints depict the famously noted feud of Yamana and Hosokawa in 1400's. Yoshiiku Utagawa's prints are highly collectable and documented; however. This rare triptych is not seen in museums and collectors' websites. The only information we could obtain about this triptych is that Asahi News Paper in 1999 published the newly discovered collection of Kagaya family with 145 Edo prints, including Yoshiiku's Yamana Hosokawa Kakushitsu no Zu. This triptych is not from their collection, but it could be the new discovery of this triptych. These ... moreare not the modern reproductions. They are ready to be framed and displayed. The colors remain very strong. And they are printed on fine Washi rice paper. The approximate size of EACH print is 9.8 x 14.2 inches(25 x 36cm) A few minor stains. Foxing, fadings and some aging are seen as well as some of the margins are worn/folded and worm bites are seen. Please expect some wears and creases. The colors may differ slightly from the pics. The photos do this piece no justice because it’s picking up the background of my ceiling fan. In the last picture of the triptych what looks like a rope is actually the reflection of the covered chain of the fan. The 3 piece mirrored pictures have beautiful fairies. Butterflies, and very colorful flowers. The center mirror measures 18” H x 12” W. The 2 side pieces each measure 18” H x10” W. Making the whole triptych measuring 18” H x 32” W. This is a RARE wood cut by Kunisada Ukiyo-e triptych. It is NOT a print. It was purchased from the Shafer Estate of Shafer Tugs. In Oregon over six decades past, and then I inherited it and it's graced my walls for many years. I am now 70 years old, and liquidating MY estate. It is held in very few private collections and it's rarity cannot be understated. Limited International Shipping.
Here's an exciting Japanese Woodblock print triptych. It is most likely a reprint of a 19th c print from the early part of the 20th century. I unfortunately have lost the information on the work and the artist. Although stylistically it is reminiscent of the work of Kunisada or Kunichika. It measures 28 1/4" x 14" Overall in pretty good shape, it has writing on the back of the print, and the left hand sheet is separating from the middle sheet. Comes in a fantastic archival frame. This is one of MANY JAPANESE WOODBLOCK artworks for auction this week! 22 1/2" x 13 1/2" Frame 32 1/2" x 18" About Toyohara Kunichika( 1835-1900) Toyohara Kunichika(Japanese: 豊原 国周; 30 June 1835– 1 July 1900) was a Japanese woodblock print artist. Talented as a child. At about thirteen he became a student of Tokyo's then-leading print maker, Utagawa Kunisada. His deep appreciation ... moreand knowledge of kabuki drama led to his production primarily of ukiyo-e actor-prints, which are woodblock prints of kabuki actors and scenes from popular plays of the time. An alcoholic and womanizer. Kunichika also portrayed women deemed beautiful(bijinga) contemporary social life, and a few landscapes and historical scenes. He worked successfully in the Edo period, and carried those traditions into the Meiji period. To his contemporaries and now to some modern art historians, this has been seen as a significant achievement during a transitional period of great social and political change in Japan's history. Here is another consignment offering from one of my all time favorite Charleston area high end antique collectors. Belle Epoque or the"Beautiful Era" refers to late 19th century France. From about 1871 through 1914 and the beginning of World War I in Europe, and a time period marked by collective optimism, peace at both home and abroad, general financial stability and overall comfort with life in the present. This positive atmosphere allowed and encouraged the arts to flourish in Paris and many beautiful works were completed during this era. This absolutely gorgeous large Belle Epoque style triptych, or three panel scene designed for use side by side, is a wonderful example of the lovely leaded and hand painted stained glass works created in France at this time and imported into Charleston, SC at some point long ago. In the manufacturing ... moreof this piece, the craftsman assembled the small individual panes of clear and amber leaded glass, with lead added to the glass itself to increase it's shine, into the three large panels. A leaded stained glass window or other object is made of pieces of glass, held together by lead. The pieces of glass are about 1/8 inch thick and are bound together by strips, called"comes" of grooved lead, soldered at the joints. The three panel were then used like one large canvas would then be. With the artist hand painting the entire design"vitraux" or in reverse, onto the three panels. Then the glass panels were heated to fuse the paint to the glass and complete the work. To be quite honest, my photographs just don't do this terrific glass masterpiece justice however I do have more pictures available upon request. This magnificent three panel window stands 93 1/2 inches tall and collectively measures between 97.5- 98 inches wide. With each of the three individual panels measuring 32 1/2 inches wide. This beautiful joyful design with each panel framed in amber glass features a large central urn with blue floral, colorful yellow with red swags, and lovely

Measuring about 8¾" x 6¾" Including the fancy decorated frame, this three-part print features three Fra Angelico paintings of musical angels, each separately matted in a gold beveled matte with the windows shaped like church arches. The first angel is playing a tambourine, captioned"Cantate Domino! The second, captioned"Allelujah! is praying or singing. And the third, banging a hand held drum, is captioned"Soli Deo Gloria! On its back. The kraft paper is missing, so no clues to the age or framing history. My guess at its age would be 1920's, give or take a decade or two. The print and matte are in excellent condition, but the frame has the lower corner decoration missing, the upper right corner decoration half gone, and small chips and cracks at the other two corners.
