Between which are medals representing the stations of the cross. An additional 6 beads are added as well as a crucifix. This chaplet of the Way of the Cross was granted to Vincentian Order by Popes Pius IX and X. Later it was withdrawn by the Holy Office(1912) Since the indulgences can be gained by using the crucifix alone. It is somewhat of a misnomer to call this a rosary. To the sick and to others who cannot go to a church to make the Way of the Cross the Holy See has given the privilege of gaining the indulgences attached to the Way of the Cross by holding in their hand a specially indulgenced crucifix and saying the prescribed prayers. This BEAUTIFUL LITHOGRAPH OF THE 14“STATIONS OF THE CROSS” is#410 and was made in the United States. Each Station of the Cross is depicted by a separate picture in beautiful detail. The litho is 7 ¾ wide by 10 inches long and the framing is 12 ¾ by 12 ¾. Plexiglas is used instead of glass. Unfortunately tape was used(see upper left hand corner) to attach the litho to the matting. Otherwise it is in excellent condition. No tearing or folding of any kind. Here we have somthing that is a bit different and I think pretty interesting and that would be an older antique high quality plaque of Jesus Christ wearing a Crown of Thorns. I think this plaque was part of a Stations of the Cross display in a Catholic Church. I obtained it years ago at a catholic church in Baltimore that was having a tag sale of old stuff from the church. Face is made out of a heavy metal, looks to be hollow but is still heavy and since a magnet doesnt stick I take it to be bronze or brass but not sure,Was nickle plated which has some minor wear but nothing that detracts or that is even noticiable,Wood plaque that it is mounted on is walnut and has a small wire hanger at the top to hang it from. Each figure is made of fine pewter with 24k gold leaf accents. If you want pics of ones I had to leave out just message me. They are all in excellent condition with no gold loss. Please do not take camera flash as such. The figures range from 3 3/4 to 2 1/2 inches tall and are very heavy for their size. Just a stunningly beautiful, eye catching unit. OAK WOOD METAL JESUS CRUCIFIX STATIONS OF CROSS ALTER EASTER Mid Century Modern
Up for your consideration is this great estate find! Acquired at a priests estate. I was told this vintage, Mid Century Modern era, House Alter came from Germany, circa 1940's/1950's. The alter is made of oak wood with stamped brass stations of the cross medallions and a brass finished Jesus. The alter also has two taper candle holders with brass inserts and a brass finished holy water cup holder(missing plastic cup) The piece measures 11 1/2" tall x 11 1/4" wide x 4 3/4" deep. It is in great vintage condition showing some minor dings on one of the candlestick arms(see photos 6) I love the modernist station of the cross medallions. This set came from the estate of a missionary nun who I was told had all of her icon things blessed and she often gifted them to those who she made sick calls for. It's a rare find and this quality rosary set has no makers marks that I can find. It's heavy weight and they feel good in the hands. The set is in nice used condition, the beads are all intact, it has no repairs and it hasn't been cleaned, it's estate fresh. Vintage Virgin Mary Medallion. Never taken off the card and always kept in the original plastic sleeve. Never used. O MARY CONCEIVED WITHOUT SIN PRAY FOR US WHO HAVE RECOURSE TO THEE 1830" is what is printed on each side and 1830 is at the bottom. These were given to the Mothers at my Grandmothers Church so I don't know exactly how old the Medal is. I'm guessing from the 1960's? no guarantee on the age. The Church that they came from is Our Lady Mother of the Church in Chicago/Schiller Park area. Antique Stations of the Cross Scroll Box. Appears to be made from oak wood. Wire on back for hanging. Can also stand on its own. Minor wood splintering on bottom edge and 8 1/2" hairline crack noted on back. See photos. Wood finish shows wear. Scroll contains the 14 Stations of the Cross on a long piece of material which unrolls as you turn the knobs The top edge of the Stations of the Cross sheet was nailed on the scroll however has since come off the nails and is loose now held by a piece of tape. Scroll working with tape now. Creases noted in the material of the Stations of the Cross. At bottom of scroll it states Copyright 1904 Koenig Brothers. Awesome 14 Stations of the Cross Print/ Pictures- 8" x 10" SIZE These lovely pictures and great Italian quality! There are 14 different pictures. Representing each of the stations of the Cross. Each picture is 8" x 10" The illustrations are beautiful, vivid and colorful. Each one is a scene from the Passion and Death of Our Lord. The number of the station is printed on the back. These are very well done, and the whole set could be framed to make your home feel more like Church, or you could just frame individual pictures. I also like to put them in a photo album, and then they are easy to view. They are definitely very traditional pre-Vatican II style. The artist is Vincentini. These are genuine prints by the famous Fratelli Bonella Company in Italy. They are not reproductions of their pictures. Pictures tell a thousand ... morewords. So these are wonderful for teaching children the Faith. They should be an essential part of any Catholic homeschool or religion curriculum. Definitely a set that will be a family favorite!
