It represented Damascus Shrine#1 1908- 1958. Around the cross and star emblem it reads IN MOC SIGNA SPES MFA. I could only find one small surface chip on the rim of the vase. Picture#4. 19th Century Gilt Bronze & Painted Table Shrine Stupa Pogoda
This is a really fine antique gilt bronze table top shrine or alter. I believe it to be buddhist and either Indian or Tibetan in origin? The four footed base has a bronze fencing around a Pagoda or Stupa type structure and two covered pots(probably for incense) The top section has three hooks to hang items. There are hand painted flowers throughout as well. Measures roughly 13 inches high and 9 inches wide. The condition is very good. I will ship this item internationally.

Up for auction is an antique old Chinese carved wooden red lacquer gold gilt temple prayer shrine in very good condition considering the age. There is normal aged wear and patina to the piece. The finish has some chips and flakes. The wood has some small cracks and the very top right corner of the piece has a chip in the wood. There is a drawer in the front bottom of the piece. Take advantage of our combined shipping to save even more! DETAILS OF ITEM This piece measures 2.75 inches by 3.5 inches. The inscription on the piece reads"Born in the region of Kami-Ikuno Village. Asago Gun of Tajima, the"Ujiko" of Hachiman Shinto shrine of Kami-Ikuno Village. Kumanosuke, a son of Shigeuemon Yahagusa, Born August 13th, in 1862. Tajima is an old name of present day Hyogo Prefecture and now all these subdivisions under the Asago Gun has integrated as a part of Asago City. The back ... moreof the piece reads"Issued by Bungo Yamada. May 25th in 1872. This is a rare antique wooden ID card that was issued by Mr. Yamada and he was probably a Shinto priest of the village. Kumanosuke had then joined as an"Ujiko" of the shrine in 1872 at the celebration of Kumanosuke's first visit to a Shinto shrine called the Omiya-mairi. Whenever a child is born. A local Shinto shrine adds the name of the child to a list that is kept at the shrine and declares the child as the official member of the shrine called the"Ujiko. This act will symbolically notify the local guardian God or spirit and ask for the protection of the new member. When Kumanosuke was born in August of 1862. America was in the midst of Civil War. Less than a month later, September 17, 1862, America experienced the bloodiest day in U.S. military history as Gen. Robert E. Lee and the Confederate Armies are stopped at Antietam in Maryland by McClellan and numerically superior Union forces. The Civil War ended April 9, 1865, and President Lincoln was shot April 15 six days later.
