The Zushi is missing the opposite hinge and a decorative bracket at the top. A pair of Japanese carved wooden statues of the deities. Ebisu and Daikoku. The small shrine comes from Izumo Taisha, one of the few major shrines in Japan. A unique Japanese fluted bronze vase from the late Meiji Era(c. 1900) Its deep relief images depict birds flying about a flowering tree. It was used to hold flowers and evergreens in the traditional Japanese butsudan(Buddhist shrine) These family heirlooms were handed down from generation to generation. This particular bronze vase was cast over 100 years ago and features two elephant shaped handles(see pictures) And features the artist Taiyo signature on the bottom(see picture 9) Also seen in my enlarged pictures are the garden scenes on both sides of the vase in deep relief. It has been well used yet well loved and has a deep aged patina; it is overall in very fine condition. It has a very attractive shape with a fluted top and a waisted bottom.
