Vintage Catholic Shrine/ Statue of the Child Jesus- MINT CONDITION in the ORIGINAL BOXES! The shrine measures 5 1/2 tall. It is made of white plastic that has a pearlized or shimmery look to it. The statue is of the Child Jesus holding a gold chalice and host. Its a seperate piece that fits into the shrine and measures 3 3/4" tall. Its a beautiful piece. It would have been a memento for a First Holy Communion. The pieces were never displayed and are in perfect condition. Vintage Green Jade Budda with Enamel Leaves in a Shrine Pendant
Up for bid is a Vintage Green Jade Budda Shrine Pendant with Enamel Leaves and Bambo Style Surround. The Pendant measures 1 1/8th inches long withoutr bale or 1 3/8ths inches long with bale by 1 inch wide and 1/4 inch from front to back. The Pendant is a hald dome and the green jade budda is mount on the concave side of the dome. The Budda is surrounded by delicate enameled long leaves. The frome is bambo shaped metal work as is the front of the top hanging bale. The metal behind the budda has fine ray like lines and the bambo has surface lines to look like real wood. The pendant is not signed. This pendant has been worn. But remains in extremely nice condition. There are some surface scratches on the back of the pendant. This is a beautiful antique Christian Shrine/Altar music box from the 40's. Made by Noma Light Co. Which is the same company famous for its Christmas Bubble Lights. It is ornately decorated with removable chalkware figures(Jesus& 2 Angels) Painted with the picture of the"Last Super" and adorned with frosted glass rod candles and frosted glass cross, which illuminate the color of desired bulb used. It is lighted and does work, however, a couple of the rubber grips on the candles are loose, so they do not stand a correct height. A little touch of glue could remedy that. The music box does not work( possibly could be repaired) The bottom of the altar is made of wood and can be removed for access to music box and light bulb. Brass gong on a wooden stand with a nice sound. The gong measures 6" diameter by 1 5/8" deep. With the gong on top of the stand it measures 12 1/2" tall by 7" wide by 6" deep. It weighs 3 pounds. It is in very nice condition. It has a hand carved and etched head made of pipestone. It has a wood stem. Usually made from sumac, pine, cedar and redwood. I think this one is cedar. The site of the quarries from which the pipestone is obtained. Is considered sacred ground. The legend among the American Indians is that the red stone is made from the flesh and blood of their ancestors. Today the stone are quarried the same way that have been over the years. The Pipestone Indian Shrine Association is a non profit association est. in 1955 to preserve the art of pipe making. They continue to create crafts that are unmatched in quality.
