Mission Bells Shrine by National Clock Corp. Lynn. Massachusetts Sessions Movement I found this clock at an estate sale. The clock had no cord, someone had painted it white over the pink plastic finish, cross& figures. One piece"Joseph" had to be re-glued. I believe it was painted because the pink frame was faded from age. I spent a good amount of time working on this clock fixing it up. I soaked the frame in a bucket with Pine Sol to remove the white paint. Some had to be scraped off, replaced the cord, repainted the gold as best I could, added five coats. Some of the gold paint was not originally around the bells& flowers but was there when I found it, just repainted it, would not come off. I did the best I could trying to remove the white paint but the frame has scratches from scraping it. There is still white residue& ... morethe frame is also faded from age. The frame has no cracks but does have nicks& stains, there is a large noticeable nick on the top(see photos)There is a metal weight inside the base. Sessions clock is working& keeps proper time, takes a few seconds to come on after you plug it in. The cross will be removed for shipping purposes, this can be put back on very easily with the two screws in the back. Event was held at McArthur Court on the University of Oregon campus in Eugene(otherwise known as Mac Court or"The Pit" Poster is cardboard and in excellent condition and measures 22" x 14" It has very minor edge or surface wear. Also has a lightly written 1966 under the"8" in the upper right(appears to be pencil but I don't want to risk damaging anything) Displays great. Suitable for framing. Description"An antique was once well-loved. And carries a history with it. That should be embraced" My treasures have been used. And are in used condition From an estate sale of a Priest in Western New York Priest Antique Oak Wood Glass Encased Wall Shrine ~ Sacred Heart Of Jesus Statue Antique Sacred Heart Of Jesus shrine shadow box. This is in good condition! For it's age I have added a picture of the chain to show how it was made years ago There is only a couple wood chips on the front bottom by the glass And a couple on the edges of the frame Does need a good cleaning Also inside glass needs cleaning There are two small holds in the frame where a metal plate was with the Sacred Heart of Jesus wrote on it Also could use a coat of pa int on the side I would clean it up and paint the frame gold The overall measurements are ... more23.5" tall x 14" wide x 5" deep. The Sacred Heart statue inside measures 16" tall x 5" wide. She is made of chalkware and is in good condition! For it's age There are two pots with burgundy flowers in them One on each side of Jesus Encased in glass. The shrine is mounted in an oak frame with crosses in the gothic arched matting at each upper corner. These antique shrines are hard to find and rarely in this condition! Vtg Catholic Religious Icon Shrine alter folding traveling Italy gesso gilt wood
Beautiful Vintage folding shrine. 5 1/2 inches tall x 6 3/8 inches wide. Most likely Italian as it is gilt gessoed and painted wood typical of Italian craftsmen. The prints decoupaged into the ornate frames are chromo lithographs- not cheaper dot matrix prints. Piece was made by first coating the wood with a layer of gesso. Then the ornate lines and patterns are hand incised into the gesso for a 3-d effect. Gold and colored paint is then added. Some surface losses as can been seen in photos. But generally lovely. FROM SOUTH INDIA. ANDRA PRADESH, TELANGANA AREA, the GOLLA HERDING CASTE. No Reserve These temple shrine figures are made of compressed sawdust bonded together with a glue and covered with cloth which is then painted and covered with lacquer. This is a traveling shrine showing a multiarmed deity with large had. Glanced and topped with nagas(snakes) The arms are extended a waist height; the left hand has a hole that once held an implement, the right is holding a bowel. As expectd in an old piece, the paint shows flaking and the compressed wood in the base shows deterioration. The is a gouge in the surface above the third eye. And on the right breast, and other abrasions and wear consistent with use. There is a hand written note glued inside the base that identifies the origin and some of the iconography. However. It is degraded and cannot ... morebe read in it entirety. The base is rectangular with painted faces in the front. The back is painted with characteristic figures. Size: 22.5 high 12 inches wide and 7 inches deep. There exists one publication focusing on these ritual figures: MARG PUBLICATION. VOL. 49, NUMBER 3, 1998. Toshi Yoshida(1911- 1995) Wood Block Print- Cherry Blossom at the Shrine at Akasaka. It has gorgeous detail and lovely colors. Toshi Yoshida followed in his father's foot steps when he began print making. He started out printing animals to distinguish himself from his father. But in the 1930's he started to make landscapes like his father. This is a posthumous print printed by his student Shinkichi Nunabe. This framed print measures 15"x11 1/2" There are a couple scratches on the frame- see photos.
