This is a fabulous Santo Domingo Pueblo Heshi& Deer bone carved bear necklace. This necklace was a gift and I was told it was made by an elderly woman. Crucita Tenorio, and that this would be the last bear fetish she would make. I have never worn it. It features graduated heshi and a 2 5/8" long X 3/4" wide bear carved from deer bone. The necklace measures about 17 1/2" long. A great addition to any collection! I ship in the most affordable fashion and do not pad shipping costs. Thanks for looking!

Mary Lovato, Santo Domingo Pueblo, American Indian, Large Inlaid Shell Pendant
This shell pendant by Mary Coriz Lovato is signed on the upper back of the shell with her initials MCL and on the upper right back with the year 2009(09) Mary Lovato is a member of the Santo Domingo(now Kewa) tribe outside Albuquerque. New Mexico. She has been creating her unique mosaic inlay shell pendants since the mid 1950's. Her well known inlay uses silver, coral, turquoise, lapis, jet, mother of pearl and abalone. Her visual signature is the hand image that often appears on her pendants, earrings and necklaces. Hand images were frequently featured on the rock pictures at the ancient American Indian petroglyph sites in the Southwest and this is what inspired her. This wonderful. Large shell pendant is 2 3/4 inches wide and 2 1/2 inches tall. Jet, coral, turquoise, mother of pearl and abalone are used as well as silver. The bale for ... morethe pendant is on the back. Mary Lovato is a well known native American artist. If you google her, you will find many, many references to her and her work. The beautiful three turquoise strands are about 17" long without the braided cord that extends the length, and the bail is huge, also inlaid to match, front and back, top and bottom, with abalone shell inlaid as well as turquoise and vinyl black and white and spondylus shell. The thunderbirds are attached to twisted silver wires. The wires would have originally been attached to screwback earring backs that were at some point replaced with pierced earring clasps. Materials: Each of the thunderbirds is made with a variety of materials and features turquoise mosaic inlay in the Santa Domingo tradition. Presenting a Vintage. Heishi' bead, Fetish' necklace. This creatively made necklace from the Santo Domingo Pueblo, is comprised of two, fine strands of brown, Heishi' Shell, beads and thirty three, hand carved, fetishes. The fetishes are carved from Turquoise, Spiny Oyster, Jasper, Mother of Pearl, Jet, and other, natural, Southwest stones. The carvings represent birds, bears, fish, turtles, and foxes. A large, open winged, Turquoise bird, is at the bottom of the strands. The fetish at the end of each side of the necklace has the two strands strung through. It is in this manner that the two strands lay apart on the necklace. The necklace has the traditional, Sterling Silver, cone ends, with a hook and loop closure. Old Pawn Santo Domingo Pueblo Type Natural Turquoise Heishi Bead Necklace Backstory: This wonderful antique piece of Southwestern Native Americana came from the estate of a 40 year collector. The age and quality of the pieces is most impressive. But there is little or no documentation as to who made it or where or when it was acquired! Although this necklace is old enough not to need it. Lets get the disclaimer out of the way right off the bat: This is an antique necklace, handmade in Santo Domingo style. Unless the original tags and paperwork are still attached to a piece of"Old Pawn, it has not necessarily actually ever been pawned. This has become a general term that roughly characterizes older pieces, which admittedly drives specialty dealers up a wall. Without pawn tags, the age of any piece can be approximated, but it is always ... morea reasonably educated guess and the exact year is always arguable. Also, Native American jewelry of this period was generally unsigned. Aside from cultural aspects of singling out an individual, the pieces were made for personal use or as gifts and everyone involved knew perfectly well who made them. Over the generations, jewelry moved out of the family. It was passed down. Or sold. Or, yes, pawned. Or any of the thousand things that can draw a curtain over the origins of vintage and antique jewelry happened to it. Now no one knows who made it. Which can create a problem. Santo Domingo TURQUOISE HEISHI Necklace w Jacla 1930's TYRONE MINE Coral beads
An older necklace from the 1930's that has the heishi and nugget turquoise from the Tyrone Mine. Turquoise heish in the jacla with a bead that appears to be made of bone. Shell heish between the tyrone turquoise nuggets. Finished with string at the neck. And string tie at the jaclas. I believe at one time these were used as earrings, but I would not want to untie the string. Some coral trade beads at the tie. Holding it up, I get a total length of 18 1/2 inches for the doubled piece. Wonderful aged blue color in the turquoise nuggets. Shipping combined on all native american items.

The close up photo of the shell is poor. Too much light as I was trying to show the colors of the turquoise. And the small orange inlay circles in the red. Shell measures 2 by 1 15/16 inches and has various bright pieces of turquoise inlaid in a mosaic pattern. Also the rust color(pipestone? and white shell. Quite old. Two silver bench beads on each end. Strung on twine. There is a place at the bottom right of center where some of the filling has gone missing. Or maybe it was made that way. Drop about 10 1/8 inch countine the shell. Lays at a nice length when worn.

The unique native american santo domingo pueblo shell pendant is about 2 9/16" wide x 1 3/4" high x 1/2" deep. It is made on a oyster shell. With turquoise, black onyx, and mother of pearl. The thickness of the inlay is about 3/32" There are 2 holes drilled on each side of the top about 1/32' diameter, so that it could be strung on a necklace. The shell came from one of the local pueblos. This would make a great addition to any collection.

The earrings weigh 4 grams total or 2 grams each. The earrings are made of spiny oyster shell with natural bright blue turquoise inlay at the bottom. The earrings are on hand made silver wires with a concha bead holding the shell on the wire. The silver wire are coin or higher. The earrings measure 1" long x 5/8" wide. These earrings were bought at an Inidan Antique Art& Jewelry Show back in the 1980's. These earrings have been kept in a protective bag. Sr. a member of the Kewa Puebelo(formerly referred to as Santo Domingo) The necklace is extremely large in dimensions and weight. The necklace has three strands- a rarity-all are unusually long at approximately 30” in length. The heishi taper slightly at the back; in the center the heishi have a width of about 3/8” The wider disk beads are irregular on the edges and range from about 5/8” to ¾” in diameter. This is a buffalo that Santo Domingo jeweler carved from alabaster. Gene tied an adornment on the side of the buffalo consisting of a turquoise arrowhead with a turquoise nugget and red seed beads. This piece of alabaster is ivory with brown striations throughout the stone. This buffalo has a great ruff carved around his neck. Inlaid jet eyes and pipestone horns. Gene tied a wire with a bale around the middle of the buffalo so that you can wear this fetish as a necklace. This buffalo is 2" long. And 3/4" wide and 1 1/4" tall. It is on original string that is soiled from age and wear. But it is strong and wearable. ❀It is strung with white heishi and natural polished turquoise. ❀Tab turquoise bead necklaces are hard to find and this is an early one. Tab beads are hard to make because they are drilled at the weakest part of the bead and often break. These beads are special in that they were not cut and shaped into tabs. The maker found turquoise nuggets that are shaped in the teardrop shape. The holes are hand drilled with a non motorized drill. Vintage large Santo Domingo olla by Arthur & Hilda Coriz, signed & hallmarked
From my collection. For your consideration, a large Santo Domingo olla by Arthur and Hilda Coriz. Hand coiled, stone polished, decorated with four different bird and floral motifs, rim is painted black with a spirit break, and the underbody and interior are slipped red. Measures a good 5-1/2 inches high by 8 inches diameter, could be the centerpiece of any Santo Domingo collection. Condition is excellent, check out the photos, views around the piece show all four birds, and the soup can is shown so you can get an idea of the size. Signatures of Arthur and Hilda Coriz are etched on the base, with their"vase" hallmark. According to Schaaf. Arthur and Hilda made pottery in the traditional manner, using natural clays and wiold spinach and honey for their black paint.
