Reproduction of New Mexico/Mexico Santo(Saint) Religious Figure 12" Flat-back to Hang or Stand This santo is from my collection that I am needing to downsize. I am not sure which saint he is; but he seems to be holding a Bible and a dove. He is made from what appears to be wood. But could be a composite material. He is flat on the back with an eyelet. So he can be hung on wall display. I have had him sitting on a shelf with like items in a very pleasing display. His coloring is muted and weathered. By design, and appears to be an antique piece. RARE 1920's Santo Domingo Pueblo Pottery Bowl- Fresh Estate Find- No Reserve An incredible antique Santo Domingo pottery bowl that was actually used for storage. Has great and bold design elements. About Santa Domingo Pottery: Santo Domingo Pueblo is reputed to be one of the most unchanged Pueblo cultures since the arrival of Spanish explorers. Indeed. European influence is as little evident in minimalistic stone-slab and Heishi Santo Domingo Pueblo jewelry as in its traditional pottery. In comparison to other Pueblos’ intricately-designed pottery. Pottery made by Santo Domingo artists is simple—traditional ollas of buff clay are decorated primarily with black and terra cotta paints, geometric patterns and floral and animal designs. What makes Santo Domingo pottery so unique and remarkable. However, is the ways in which artists create ... morethe vessel’s appearance. Many Pueblos use a stone-finish technique to give their pieces a polished gloss, but Santo Domingo artists use an egg white finish to achieve a glossy sheen. Even more impressive is the painting. Many Santo Domingo Pueblo pottery designs are created by large blocks of black color and negative space. Unlike the intricate fine line patterns of the Acoma Pueblo. But Santo Domingo artists use all natural paints that are all but invisible until the piece is fired. To create any design, artists must be sure of their brushstrokes because there is no room for error. Because of its lack of ornamentation often associated to European influence. Santo Domingo pottery best reflects indigenous Pueblo culture among the Native American Indian pottery traditions. Adding Santo Domingo pottery to your collection lends a touch of antiquity to the Southwestern style. 5 1/4" x 7 1/2" inches We offer local pickup and combined shipping International buyers must contact us for exact shipping costs Be sure to view. Including other Native American pottery and Jewelry!

Item Description: This gorgeous Santo Domingo bolo tie was made by Ca'Win also known as Jimmy Calabaza. You don't find these very often and this is a great one. It is in excellent condition. The bolo is 5 inches tall and 3 3/4 inches across. This beauty weighs 8.6 ounces! The bolo is on a strong elaborate leather tie with heavy silver tips. Ca'win is one of the finest turquoise heishi makers alive today. He is featured in many publications and has won numerous awards for his beautiful jewelry. Ca'Win is also a farmer. He has several fields that he tends to, and says sometimes that is where he draws his inspiration from. His designs and methods are sometimes dreamed up while sitting in the tractor or opening the irrigation ditch to the fields. Born and raised on the Santo Domingo Pueblo in New Mexico, Ca'Win is also very ... moreactive in the community. Jimmy Calabaza of Santo Domingo Pueblo is known for his big and bold designs. As he says. They aren't for the faint of heart. All his jewelry is totally handmade, including the cutting and shaping of his raw stones-a step many other jewelers forgo. He first began jewelry work in 1974, making traditional nugget necklaces that he would trade for blankets and other goods on the Navajo reservation. It was like a hobby at first, he explains. Several years later he decided to focus on it as a career and has since then he has not looked back, mastering lapidary work, bead and heishi production, and silver- and goldsmithing along the way. His work can be found in the gift shops of the National Museum of the American Indian(as well as its permanent collection) in New York, the Southwest Museum in Los Angeles and the Museum of Indian Arts and Culture in Santa Fe FOR SHIPPING WITHIN THE U.S. Winner may choose U.S. Priority or Express Mail. Item Description: This is a very unique Navajo or possibly Santo Domingo Bolo made to fit a black braided leather bolo tie. It shows an interesting Yei figure surrounded with deeply handstamped flowers. Brass was not often used for jewelry because it is more difficult to work with than silver. It is especially unusual to see brass used with the overlay technique. The bolo measures 2 3/8 inches tall and 2 1/8 inches across at the widest point. The bolo weighs 1.7 ounces. This is a classic Santo Domingo heishi necklace from legendary stone smith Lupe Lovato. This necklace is very rare for a number of reasons. First is the use of pipestone. Second is the large stone discs that make up the lower portion of the necklace including turquoise. Pipestone, jet and shell. The largest disc measures 1" in diameter. All beads are hand carved and hand rolled in the traditional Santo Domingo fashion to make a perfect gradation. This is an old pawn piece that includes the original tag(still attached) with Lupe's name. The double strand beads leading to the silver cones leading to the large discs- this style is very unusual. The large carved stones give this piece a'primitive' feel. As if this was made not for commercial consumption. To me, this makes this piece that much more special and unique. Small Vintage Santa Domingo Bowl initialed'JM SDP' for"Santa Domingo Pottery. Kewa or Santo Domingo pottery was made between Santa Fe and Albuquerque. New Mexico. Santo Domingo pottery may not be as prized as San Ildefonso or Santa Clara in pueblo pottery but older items are a relative rare form of American art pottery because. In the early 1900s the Pueblos around Santo Domingo were making pottery for the tourist trade, but the artists of Santo Domingo Pueblo directed most of their attention to jewelry making. The pottery they made during this time was for their personal use so finding pre-1900 Santo Domingo pottery is quite unusual. The bowl listed is much later when the pueblo started selling into the tourist trade. Condition: Used. Excellent condition- no chips. Cracks, repairs, damage or defects that I can detect. This delicate beauty is 16" long. Making it a choker on many necks and very layer-able. It doesn't have an extender. But when I need to add length, I use one of my own extenders and it works just fine, even with the style of clasp that it is. Purchased on a long-ago trip to Arizona, this was locally and artisan made, but I do not recall the artists name. Nonetheless, it is just as lovely and bright as the day it was purchased and is in great condition. It measures 16" and is just under 1/4" wide.about 3/16" Beautiful stones were used and I believe that the black is Jet, but it could be onyx, and the browns are Jasper.
