Vtg Italian Pieta The Crucified Christ Jesus & Mary Lamentation Figurine Color
I have up for auction a figurine of Mary holding our crucified Jesus. On the front of the base is imprinted Pieta. The bottom is stickered- made in Italy. Someone has written on the bottom 3 May 1986 Leamington(maybe Italian for Lamentation) One. I believe the figurine to be made out of chalkware or something along those lines. It measures 5" high. The base measures 4 1/4 by 2 1/2 inches. There is a chip on the back of Jesus' head and on the back towards the bottom. See the 4th picture. There are a couple of surface chips on the base rim, see the last picture.

Up for bid is this absolutely wonderful depiction of Michelangelo's Pieta by Royal Dux. It measures approximately 6.5" high x 10" wide and is in great condition. There are absolutely no chips. Dings, cracks or repairs to be found on the piece. This figure would make a great display during the Easter Season. Pieta Statue"3D" Charm Medal- Beautiful and Unique This is a really neat medal! It is shaped like a statue(3D) with a loop at the top for attaching to a charm bracelet or necklace. I have a picture of both the front and back of the medal. It shows the traditional Pieta scene with Jesus in Mary's arms after the Crucifixion. I also included a quarter in the picture so that you can see the size. Its about 3/4" tall not including the loop part at the top. Its made of solid metal with a bright silverplated finish. This is a colored. Glossy photograph of The Pieta, that is sold at The Vatican's Gift Shop. It measures approximately 11.25" by 8.50" Including the white border. ORNATE VICTORIAN GILT FRAME WITH FINE PETITPOINT ON/OVER ANTIQUE PRINT - PIETA
This listing is for a wonderful piece of art(perfect for the coming Easter season) and a great Victorian gilt frame. So the description is particularly difficult to write the ad combines two elements- each of which deserves attention in its own right. Perhaps I should note that when I purchased the piece(being a frame junkie) I bought it for the frame which I simply thought held a nicely matted old print of the Pieta, or Lamentation of Christ with the Virgin Mary holding the body of Jesus. The needlework is so tiny and well done and the paper and stitchery merged so subtly that I actually didn't see that it was needlepoint until I was home. The tiny needlework(micro petitpoint. I believe) is so masterfully executed that it melts into the print and is worked over and around to produce an ornate oval portrait border. If you look at the ... morephotos that magnify the stitches, you'll see that there is even a shingled texture created within areas of the background. While I'd love to see exactly how it was done, I wussed out on opening the back and removing it. The frame. Then, is a pretty example of an elaborately patterned gesso on wood frame, over-gilded with an all-over Aesthetic style pattern. Hopefully the photos will show the attractive design and the depth of the raised gesso ornamentation, In terms of size it measures 14 x 16 inches and the picture area(glass) is 9 x 11 1/8" It weighs in at about 3 1/2 pounds. In terms of condition. Overall the only flaws I could find are pretty invisible- little chips of gesso at 3 of the corners that were painted over at some time in their life. The"worst" is shown in the 2nd last photo and you can see the others if you enlarge the pictures of the full frame. Anyway. It really is an exceptional piece, so if you have any questions, please don't hesitate to e-mail. I pack carefully. Ship promptly at actual USPS cost. And fully insure all purchases over $30.
