This advertisement page is by the American Cigarette and Cigar Company for their Pall Mall cigarettes. The ad has a color illustration of a pack of Pall Mall cigarettes. The main painting(by John Falter) shows 2 men by an armored scout car. I believe this is a M3 or similar. Ad text starts“in cigarettes as in armored scout cars. It’s modern design that makes the big difference” and goes on about the cigarettes. Good condition. Light wear along edges, a few light wrinkles on top edge. The pages are approx. 10.5” x 13.5” No reproductions. These are actual pages from a large-format magazine(Life. Please excuse the images of flowers underneath the cloth- it is my bedspread showing through. This is a used Vestment Funeral Pall that measures 112” long and is 68” wide. There is a 3 ¼” hem around the borders and the vertical seams are ½” wide. The center panel is 34” wide and each side panel is 17” wide. The center of the Pall has a ... moresewn on appliqué of the XP Chi Rho symbol in gold. Blue and red. All four corners have weights inside to hold the cloth in place. The hem around the border is all carefully and skillfully hand stitched and the vertical seams are machine sewn. I am not sure of the cloth content. But an educated guess is a cotton/poly blend. It is probably machine washable. But I do not think the appliqué would do very well, so I would recommend Dry Cleaning. There are no holes. Tears, repairs or worn spots in the cloth, but there are some stains. I have taken some pictures to show them. But I am not sure what they are from. They are darker from the back of the cloth and it does not appear that this has been laundered since the stains occurred so they are probably not set in. Wilkinson 1920's Pall Mall Safety Razor in original box with 7 day blades.
The Wilkinson Hollow Ground Safety Shaver made in England and Exclusively distributed in the United States by Alfred Dunhill of London. New York. Thanks to some help from an interested collector who very kindly sent me a link to the wilkinsonfscollection, this is a 1920's Pall Mall Safety Razor. Included are the razor with spring loaded tab for blade insertion and thumb wheel adjustment, the stropping handle and the blade attachment, and the 7 sword steel blades marked with the dates of the week. Missing is the leather strop and strop holder. Also included are the original instructions for use as well as a 1946 ad from the Buffalo newspaper advertising a much newer model, which for some reason mother kept with the razor. She married in 1919 and was widowed in 1936 so this 1920's model fits in the timeline.I have no idea why she saved ... morethe ad with the razor.
