Stunning Limited Edition 10" Moorcroft Vase - Swallows by Rachel Bishop - 1998
This is a really stunning 10" 25 cm) high Moorcroft vase. Made in a limited edition of 500 and this is number 208, as shown on the base. It was designed by Rachel Bishop and sold in 1998 and is not often seen for sale. It comes in its box and the white outer protective paper cover and is a first quality item. It also has the catalogue for 1998 which shows the vase(please see photographs 8, 9 and 10) plus a few other pamphlets presumable from the same year and these are shown in photograph 8. I have taken photographs of the vase all the way round in the first few photographs, then the rim and the base. Any white lights are reflection from the flash. The vase is in excellent condition but it is a used item so it has signs of wear on the base(photographs 6 and 7) and may have very faint scratches commensurate with its age although I could ... morenot find any myself. I have enabled the zoom facility so prospective buyers can have a good look at the item as the photographs form part of the description. Corners bumped and worn, stains, head and tail of spine worn. Top of spine is partially torn. Magazine and newspaper articles about Bishop’s funeral are pasted in to the rear endpapers. The illustration list page has a small chip on the top edge of the page. Spine is browning. Even so the book is tightly bound and internally the pages are clear, clean and crisp with no marks, ... moregraffiti nor marginalia. This book comes from a tobacco smoke free, pet free and perfume free environment. Dust Jacket Condition: No DJ. Since book was published before the advent of dust jackets(1918) the covers are slightly stained. Illustrations: 12 B&W photographs. Special Attributes: 1st Edition rare and long out-of-print, Here offered for your consideration is a very rare 1st Edition offering of the above antiquarian book by Major W.A. Bishop V.C. D.S.O. M.C. William Bishop was born in Owen Sound. Ontario in 1894 and joined the Canadian Expeditionary Force in 1914. The following year he was transferred to the Royal Flying Corps. His extraordinary eyesight and his willingness to learn made him one of the outstanding flyers of the First World War. He was promoted to commander of the Flying Foxes. And awarded the Distinguished Flying Cross(DFC) for scoring 25 victories in twelve days. On 2nd June 1917 he won the Victoria Cross after a single-handed attack on a German aerodrome near Vimy Ridge. During the WWI Bishop wrote this book which is an autobiographical account of his experiences as a pilot. By the time the First World War ended Bishop was able to claim 72 vic

Offered here is a rare and unusual fold open brochure entitled"A Map Of Bishop California In The Heart Of The High Sierra" Prepared by the Bishop Lions Club. Drawn by Dick Potter, September 1949. What is unusual about it is that most brochures are either resort related or else relate to a specific areaa like Inyo or Mono County, or Death Valley, etc. This is actually a detailed city map(scan shown of most of map) with merchant ads for most of the Bishop businesses. Glenn Bishop Similar images of Bishop were published when he was"GRECIAN of the MONTH" in the July 1958 issue of Grecian Guild Pictorial and featured on the cover of April 1957 Body Beautiful. Bishop posed on this beach near his ... morehome in Grand Haven. Michigan for several photographers, including Cliff Oettinger, Bob Delmonteque, and friend and business partner Richard Alan, with whom Bishop formed the studio Michigan Models. At 22, he was 5'9" 175 pounds, with 16-inch biceps, 43½-inch chest(45-inch expanded) 23½-inch thighs and a 29½-inch waist. A proud husband and father, Bishop ran both a bikini and photography business of his own, marketing images of himself by other photographers. Condition The 8-by-10-inch vintage photograph is printed on heavy stock and is in very good condition. Quality and clarity are fair. There are flecks and lines in the images.
