Beautiful French antique gilt/brass mother of pearl egg, etui/box for rosary
Beautiful French antique gilt/ormolu and metal mother of pearl egg. A case or etui for a chaplet or rosary. Probably late 19 th century or early 20 th century. This is a lovely little shell made into the form of an egg, usually described as a thimble holder or trinket box; however it is more likely to be for a chaplet or rosary. I have seen these described as“Palais Royale” with suggestions that they have been produced by artisans of the Parisian palace. But I have found nothing to verify this in research. However, it was quite common to use these to hold a rosary or small religious artefact in France during the“Belle Epoque” as they are often found with souvenir inscriptions of holy places. The edges of the little box are bound with metal. Probably brass, and gilded, and in the process a small crack has appeared in the mother-of-pearl(see ... morephoto 5) however this is not unusual as it is a very delicate item. The opening catches(one on each side) are offset, typical of these little French eggs, and the hinge is in very good condition. The overall circumference of the egg at the widest point is 11 cm(4.5 ins) and the length is approximately 6 cm(2.5 ins) It will be sent to the winning bidder with postage and insurance and included.

WWI Brass Rosary Pin w/ Small Case This is a VERY RARE WWI small brass pocket rosary pin with old case. The brass pull chain style rosary consists of 59 tiny brass beads and a brass crucifix with raised corpus.VERY RARE TO FIND in this condition. There is a pin on the center medal so it can be worn on the lapel or hat. This one has a small case. The larger brass bead rosaries were military issued.these small pin rosaries WERE NEVER MILITARY ISSUED. That is why they are so rare to find. It measures 5 3/4" when laid out flat and condition is excellent. It has the old"c" clasp which dates it. The small cloth case measures about 1 5/8" at the widest part at bottom by 1 1/2" The inside is in very nice condition. As well, just soiled as you would expect and a small tear. The dime is in the picture to show the size. This ... moreis a very sacred little item and needs a good home where it's history and significance will be cherished. Thanks for looking.

Antique Guilloche Locket w/ Tiny Green Rosary This Antique Guilloche Enamel and Sterling Silver Locket is GORGEOUS.my pictures do not do this justice! The oval locket measures about 1 3/8" x 1 1/8" The front has a hand-painted pink cabbage rose and green leaves surrounded with green enamel.Stunning! The back is plain sterling silver and the tiny green glass bead rosary inside. It opens and closes correctly. The inside is marked STERLING. This could use a good cleaning. But, I will leave that up to the new owner to decide. The tiny rosary measures about 8" when laid out flat and all 59 glass green beads are present.
