Percy de Worms, a noted philatelic reseracher and writer, began to explore the extensive archives of the company when they became available for the first time in the mid-1930s. de Worms died in 1941, leaving behind 1500 typescript pages reflecting his reserach, and these two volumes, published under the auspices of the Royal Philatelic Society, are a more finished version of his work, and as such, give a thorough and detailed history of the business of providing stamps for the farflung British Empire in the mid-19th century. Light scratch on the back cover. Volume 2 was also printed in 1991. Like new condition. There is a knick on the edge of the front cover. This copy is not numbered or signed. Volume 3 was printed in 1993. The author page is signed by John Angolia and is numbered 343 out of the first and only 500 that were numbered and signed. This is actually signed in person and not on a sticker. The covers are worn and there are a couple of scratches on the back cover. History of the National Archery Association" is a 2 volume hardcover set written by Robert Rhode and published in 1978 by the Association in a limited. Numbered edition of 1,000. They total 1,356 pages, and each is numbered#135 and signed by the author. Volume I covers 1879-1945, while Volume II continues the story to 1978, in great detail and with many b&w photographs. They're in good condition, with no dust jackets(as issued) Vol. I has bumped corners and spine ends, some scuffing and four small impressions on the back. Vol. II is also scuffed on the back, and the gilt spine lettering is a bit faded. Both books have unmarked interiors and tight bindings.

The History of the War from the Commencement of the French Revolution to the Present Time by Hewson Clarke; Volumes 1. 2 and 3 together in two books. Mouse over the the two Title pages for further information. Published in London on one title page; on the more scripted page in different fonts it states Bungay. Suffolk. This is an ex-library set. F rom the Establishment of Louis the On the Throne of France. To the Bombardment of Algiers; including a copious narrative of the Battle of Waterloo, and of the conduct and conversation of Napoleon Bonaparte, with a copious description. Even though it has an 1816 copyright. I believe this is the First Edition published in 1815 because later editions came out in three separate volumes. These two volumes together measure ... moreover 6 and 1/2 inches thick and I estimate there are around 2500 + pages. I think that the Frontispiece for Volume 1 is missing, but it may not have been included or was lost when the front cover disappeared. Other illustrations are numbered erratically, not on the page stated and there is a note that states"that they vary a little in the different editions. I did not try to check if the frontispiece is someplace else. The pages are numbered into sections, starting and stopping so I estimated the pages based on how many pages one inch contains. CONDITION: There is almost no foxing nor staining. I would estimate 99% of the pages are like the ones shown above. There is some foxing around the illustration plates. But not all and often what there is, is often on the blank back side. I found one missing edge in the first map shown of France but it doesn't affect the maps visual interest or integrity. There are something like 30-40 illustrations. I rated this set as GOOD due to the cleanliness of the pages. M ost of these volumes are often very foxed or stained when you can find a complete set. Books are in overall good condition- the covers show some slight shelf wear and some fading to the spines, but are very appealing red cloth covered boards with gilt lettering on the front and spines. Volume V does have some hinge cracking in the back inside that shows partial split, but the cover is still attached. 2 very nice Civil War letters written by G Marsh of the 15th Maine Volunteers.The first letter is 4 pages all in very nice period ink and very good content and written at Barrancas Florida.Camp Coburn May 10th 1863.This one is nice for someone who likes Civil War Florida history.The other letter is written when he first enlists at Augusta Maine January 8th 1862 and talks about the 15th Maine having a dress parade and will be leaving the State the next day,this one is not complete so it is not signed but has a wonderful penned drawing of George while on guard duty,he did this artwork on the top of the letter heading shown in my photos.This soldier has some of the nicest writing I have ever seen in a Civil War Letter.I took good close ups so you can read the content.

It was published by the Masonic History Company and is"Profusely Illustrated" see bottom of title page) with black and white drawings and with several pages in color. A full-color painting of author Albert Mackey is printed on thick canvas-like paper at the beginning of Volume 1. This is one of the early revisions and is difficult to find. Especially in this condition. Do not confuse it with revisions from the late 20s or with 3 volume sets produced even later. The books are in excellent condition with only minimal shelf wear. They measure about 10" x 7.5" and each volume is nearly 500 pages. The inside cover pages and the page edges ... moreare gilded. The yellowish color on some of the photographs is not on the page; it's from the light I used when taking the photos. These books come from my library that I'm reducing because of my age. William Eleazar Barton(1861-1930) was one of the early twentieth century's most prominent writers and lecturers on the life of Abraham Lincoln. Born in Sublette. Illinois, in the same year Lincoln assumed the presidency, Barton grew up in an environment heavily influenced by reverence for Lincoln. After pursuing undergraduate studies at Berea College in Kentucky, Barton earned his divinity degree from the Oberlin Theological Seminary in 1890. He served parishes in Tennessee, Ohio, and Massachusetts before becoming the pastor of the First Congregational Church of Oak Park, ... moreIllinois, a position he held until his retirement in 1924. Four years later, Barton accepted an appointment as lecturer at Vanderbilt University, Nashville, Tennessee, where he also organized and served as pastor of the Collegeside Congregational Church.
