Roscoe" along with earlier mostly illegible inscriptions and numbers. Bringing harmony to the molded top is the opposing molding of the base. This stacked with a bead over rounded molding with a scratched-channel over the bracket feet. The form of the feet are appropriate and restrained, the scroll cut bracket form giving just subtle shape to an otherwise stoic form. The dovetailed feet are crafted such to showcase the most attractive perspective of the dovetail on the forward facing surfaces; the sides join the front board with half-blind dovetails, leaving the forward facing surface of the board unblemished by visible dovetailing. Circa 1860-1880 European All Metal-Body ShippingTrunk
This is a great aged looking trunk! It is a somewhat rare and hard to find trunk. In the mid 1800's. A new style of all metal body trunks came about. These began primarily in England, and were made as an attempt to cut production costs of wood body covered trunks, while still producing a solid and sturdy trunk. These are not as common as many trunks, and have a unique style and beauty all their own. I have only seen one other like this one; that is where I got the age estimate from. The trunk outside dimensions are@ 26" long x 17.75" wide x 16" tall; inside dimensions are@ 24.5" long x 16" wide x 12.5" tall. The trunk is in great condition for it's age and use. It has no lapse; however. The locking mechanism is there and, I think, is complete. The trunk has an@ 1/8" diameter hole on the top right ... moreof the cover( see the picture with the cover raised) Both handles are present, in good condition, with working hi nges, and work well. The cover has two working hinges that hold in up when opened. Eac h corner has a separate metal-plate attached as a reinforcement. It has the normal bumps and dents one would except to find in a shipping trunk. It has a dent on the left back at the place where dents should go. Another on the bottom, and it has a dent or two along the top cover. As said before. Real good condition for it's age and use! Please look at the pictures and judge for yourself! Beautiful Refinished 19th Century Stage Coach Trunk Solid Wood. Was covered on the outside w/ paper, but most of paper was gone paper was cleaned off. And trunk was sanded, and finished leather straps were added to the trunk. Original ones were gone I chose these straps. As the design on them was much like that of the original paper: The handle on the left side(when facing the front) is the original handle. Amazingly still very sturdy, the other is a replacement, matches very well The loop at the top above the lock is a replacement. Matches the handles The lock could presumably be made to work again. But doesn't at this time, I don't have the key either The lock is beautiful. It is a Jenny Lind style lock, very intricate and beautifully designed The inside is totally lined with leather. I chose this instead of paper or fabric since ... moreso many trunks from this century were covered with leather, I thought it would be awesome to have one lined with it instead, makes it unique and luxurious: The leather lining also has two very functional pockets on the back side. Nice Refinished Antique Flat Top Steamer Trunk With Straps& Buckles. Working Lock With Key, and Interior Tray Here is a really nice complete refinished steamer trunk from the late 1800's to around 1900. This beautiful trunk consists of poplar base wood with ash or oak outer slat boards. The wood has been finished with three coats of polyurethane by Minwax. Considering the age of this trunk. The wood is in very nice condition. It does have some typical stress cracks which are found in most all of the trunks that we refinish Here are the trunk's di mensions: from left to right across the front is 30 1/2 inches. From floor to top is 21 inches, and from front edge to back edge is 18 inches. We are calling this a flat top trunk, although there is a very slight factory arch to the top which may be noticeable in the side view picture. ... moreThis one has a wonderful combination of metal, wood, and leather, no plastic parts to break. This one comes with the original signed working lock. It is signed, Yale& Towne Mfg Co Stamford Conn U.S.A. We have matched up a key that does work properly with this lock. In addition to this nice original lock, it also has some nice original fancy front latches that do work properly since the springs are still intact. This lovely trunk originally had leather straps with buckles. They were eroded away when we received this trunk, so we have run a nice pair of Amish made leather straps with roller buckles up the front and across the top in the very same location where the original ones were. We actually have run this pair of straps under the original strap hold downs or keepers that we have repainted. Since the metal on this trunk is not brass, we have brush painted it by hand in black and gold leaf. The edge banding is made up of some type of leather or pressed composition. We did fill it where some of it was missing and painted it black also. The side handles have been replaced with Amish made black leather stitched straps. They are sturdy. Antique French Hand Painted Chest of Drawers with Writing Desk to the top.
This is a very nice hand painted chest of drawers with a writing desk to the top drawer. To the front it has superb carving with carved pillars to either side. Under the paint work is walnut. The drawers are solid wood with dovetail joints. The desk interiors is satinwood with a secret compartment with a slide over the top. There is a marble to the top. Measurements are 60 high. 23 deep, 38 wide. A great looking piece of antique french furniture.

Excellent Dome Top Oak& Tin Steamer Trunk w/ Original Tray This is a very fine example of a 19th century travel steamer trunk with a dome top. The trunk is constructed of Oak and metal. Presumably tin or sheet steel. In the late 1800's when you went on a trip you would often go for more than a month at a time so you had to bring a wide range of clothing and personal items for the trip. This trunk was probably a mid range model, not the cheapest plain jane trunk but not the fanciest trunk either. One thing is for certain, they made trunks in those days to withstand a beating. This trunk is as solid as the day it was made. It open and closes easily and the hinges are still firmly in place and in good working condition. The interior still has the original paper lining. Antique Primitive Pine Sugar Chest with Bracket Feet Lock Americana Trunk Brown
This lovely primitive sugar chest came out of an old house here in Savannah. Georgia. It was found lined with a layer of newspaper dating from 1839-1840, so we are guessing this piece dates to the early part of the 1800s. The actual chest appears to be made from pine, which as far as we can tell is a bit unusual for a sugar chest. The box sides/top are all made from one slab of wood, so it is made from old large timber. The chest has one large deep compartment and then a small drawer in the bottom, each with a lock. This sweet bit of Americana measures 20” tall x 17” wide x 9” deep and boast 4 molded drawers with dovetailed construction(front; square nail back) and thick hand chamfered drawer bottoms. The sides feature raised panels with compass corners and graceful cuts repeating the profile of the front skirt. It is primarily pine with tulip poplar back; some of the drawer bottoms are pine and others poplar and retains its original heavily distressed dark grain painted surface overall. The porcelain knobs on the top drawer are original; the rest are modern replacements. The hardware is very old and no screws are used anywhere. It is solid construction. There was. At one time, a small box mounted inside to s tore small items. Antique 1877 Hump Back Doll Child's Steamer Toy Trunk Miniature Salesmans
Antique dome top style miniature trunk. The small trunk may have been a child's doll trunk or possibly a salesman's sample. The brass lock has patent dates of March 69 and April 77. The circa 1877 trunk measures about 15 1/2" long x 10" wide x 12 1/2" tall. As pictured. The trunk has the original leather handles and interior tray. The exterior of the trunk has stamped metal with flower designs. The antique trunk is in original condition with leather intact handles and rollers on the bottom. No rust through was found on the metal. The interior paper has wear and the tray has old inactive insect damage. There is no other insect damage to the trunk. Only the back side of the tray. The metal was cleaned with a brass brush and the slates were refinished. The side wood panels were also refinished; there may have been paper ... moreon the sides at some point. Antique & Primitive Six Board Footed Painted Pine Blanket Chest, Box, Trunk 47"
I get most of my items at estate auctions and sell them in an"as found" condition. I do no repairs. Alterations and very little cleaning. This is done in the belief that most buyers prefer to receive them as original as possible. Because the items I sell can come from anywhere. I can't guarantee they all come from smoke free environments. DESCRIPTION: The existing color is mustard but there are several colors underneath. Including a coat of blue and another coat of salmon. One of those two is probably the original color of the chest. It is not a dove-tailed chest but it's tight and sound. It does have damage on one of the corners of the lid(see photos) and there is some evidence that some gouges on the lid were filled at one time, and not an expert job. The piece is old enough that the the hand plane marks can be felt on ... morethe interior. The piece probably is no more recent than the mid 1800's and could be older. It is about 47" in length, 16" in width and about 17 1/4" in height. It comes straight from a farm barn near Odessa, Missouri. The metal handles are original but the hinges are not and do not match. Please do not ask for this item to be shipped. It is for local pick up only. No exceptions. A handling charge of $1.50 is included in the domestic shipping costs. Rare Antique Iron Bound Wooden Traveling Trunk - Mid 19th Century - Coffee Table
This is a rare 19th century wooden trunk in wonderful condition. This wooden trunk has a rich. Dark hue and is bound with iron straps. The rich patina and rivets attest to the age of the trunk. The hand forged handles on each end of the trunk are in perfect condition. The heavy iron hinges and latches are reminiscent of medieval iron pieces. The interior of the trunk is in very nice condition and features fine natural wood. This trunk is still in spectacular condition because it was built by skilled craftsmen. It remains a strong and sturdy piece and has no real damage of any kind. It measures 49 1/2" long x 28 1/2" wide x 20" high. I believe the original latches were altered at some point, but the trunk is all original and will be a fine piece for many years to come. Antique Primitive Lift Top Pine Blanket Chest Red Wash Country
Antique primitive or country blanket chest with bracket feet. Simple six-board construction with an unusual half-moon cutout to create the feet at each end. The lift top is held in place by modern steel H-Hinges and a brass finished rest that keeps it from reclosing unexpectedly. Beautiful aged red wash finish. There are large iron nails holding the chest together that look like they are handmade. This piece is in good condition. Especially considering its age. There is a split to the wood near the back of the lid as well as a little bit of separation at the joints. The nails have also come out of the wood a little bit. There are what look like water marks to the finish as well, including splatter marks on one end. Up for consideration is a very nice restored victorian trunk. It has been cleaned well inside and out. All hardware and wood has been lightly sanded then sealed with a satin finish for protection. New leather handles were put on. The inside has been tastefully recovered. It has dated latches that read" July 1. 73. Inside the trunk the lid stay is also dated 1870. It is a nice trunk that is sturdy. The measurements are; 35" long x 21" wide x 27" tall. Shipping, packing and insurance will cost $95.00 due to the size and weight. Pickup is welcome. Measures approx 22.5" x 14" x 4.25" high plus a little more for the feet. I'm guessing this piece would have held sterling silver flatware. I think that it is a flatware chest. Though it has been gutted. You could reline this if you wish. Evidence of some moisture damage on the bottom with warp and stains on the wood panels. The outside lid has a black silhouette of dancers. The wood is a walnut? dark stain. Not sure what is the wood. The thickness of the wood around the edges is about 5/8" The bottom panels are thin. The lid inside is nice with a convex print of George Washington and people dancing. The print in the frame measures approx 10" x 7.25" The inside ... moreof the lid is nice too. We do not have a key for this item. Some wear to the stain as shown. This should refurbish quite nicely.
