1870-1900 Victorian Antique Steamer Trunk or Chest, of the "Titanic" Era
This is a well preserved. Collector-quality antique chest with a rounded top. A photograph aboard the Titanic shows a trunk very similar to this one. The well-known"Titanic" which sank on its first voyage. Though thought to be unsinkable. Read about the"Unsinkable Molly Brown" saved alive from that ship. Steamer trunks" were standard luggage for traveling aboard ship in those days. Nothing is missing on this trunk except the key to the lock! Helpful for someone interested in restoring it. Even the antique leather handles( 150 plus years old) are strong and intact! and were used to lift the empty trunk for its recent journey from its purchase point. View the photographs of each of the thick leather handles. Recently purchased from an estate sale in Southern California. For its age, this"treasured" chest is ... morein truly in excellent shape. The trunk opens and closes work as should. There is no warping. No"musty" smell. This trunk is as is. With all of the interest and beauty of its aged condition. On the edges where the lid and the lower portion of the trunk meet. The flower-embossed tin sheet metal shows the patina's original condition, a golden copper sheen. The sturdy sheet metal on the very bottom of the trunk is plain un-embossed sheet metal. Black in color with wooden slats. In a"grease pencil or crayon" on the bottom of the trunk on one of the wooden slats appears"32 x 84" The bottom of the trunk shows evidence of wheels once attached in each of the four corners of the trunk. No labels have yet been discovered in the trunk which would reveal more about its origins. There is some writing on the bottom of the trunk on one of the wooden slats indicating"32 x 84" This trunk or chest is better than average condition from what I've seen on eBay. You are viewing an absolutely beautiful antique Jenny Lind steamer trunk. It has been painstakingly refinished to bring out the natural beauty of the wood. All leather has been replaced with top quality black leather. Every button is original. The trunk comes with working lock and key. The trunk cannot be opened without the key. So if you lose it, you will need a locksmith. The trunk also comes with original tray and latching top compartment. Antique 1800's Hide Covered Stage Coach Trunk
You certainly don't see these every day! This is an OLD 1800's stagecoach trunk. It can easily be dated as you can see in the photos that it is lined with the Portsmouth Herald newspaper from 1840. Covered in either horse or cow hide. The hide has begun to pull away as it has dried out over the years but the majority of the hide is still in place. Leather strapping and edging. It measures 27" Long, 14" Wide and 12" High. The top is domed. The top part of the lock is gone but the bottom part remains. The hinges that hold the top on are gone. The hand forged handles are still present on both sides. This likely would have been a security" box that held valuables or guns. Just a note of interest: It is marked on the bottom"3. JW Williams, Washington, VA" Washington DC would have still been referred to as ... morebeing in Virginia. If you appreciate western history, stagecoaches or anything from that era, this is a must have! My wife, a history professor, attempted to research JW Williams and found a couple of men that if could of been but we couldn't nail it down definitively. One was an evangelist who was ordained in 1841(very near the date of the newspaper) and another was a gentleman who did famous portraits of presidents. He was known to have done some famous portraits of George Washington. Again, we can NOT document that this belonged to either of these gentlemen but it is interesting to think about. Posted with

Mid 1800s Jenny Lind Trunk
Recently restored Jenny Lind Trunk. Dimensions are as follows: 24x14x14. Original parts located on this trunk included brass tacks and trunk lock.Lock does not contain key. Only item that is not original is cloth that keeps trunk open. Handle on one side of the trunk is not as long as the other. I suspect it was torn at one point. I wanted to keep the trunk as original as possible, so I did not replace handles. You can appreciate this in the pictures. Trunk does show its age, as there is minor cracking in the wood, and other small dents, dings, and bruises. Trunk is structurally, sound however. Up for sale is this beautiful restored antique victorian flat top low profile steamer trunk with working key. It measures 34 1/2" long by 20" wide and 12 1/2" tall. The original canvas that wrapped this trunk has been removed and the wood was sanded. Stained with minwax"cherry" then sealed with two coats of spar urethane(light sand in between coats) The interior lining has been removed and the wood was sanded then stained. The Trunk shows obvious aesthetic signs of age but these details give it the perfect patina and look. The structure of this trunk is solid and it is very functional as a coffee table, blanket chest, etc. A great piece with tons of character that will be the focal point of any room. Gorgeous Antique Doll Trunk & Quilt
This auction is for a gorgeous antique doll trunk and it is a real beauty. It measures 20.5" x 11.5" wide and it is 12.5" tall. Even though this early doll trunk is worn around the edges and the leather has worn through(and split in places) all around. It is an incredible piece and it displays so beautifully. The leather handles on the sides are missing and it looks like there used to be two more on the top in which to swing it up by but they are not there now. It has a wonderful covered divided tray on the inside and there were lots of old pins(and old tissue paper) in it when I got this trunk. I have used it to store antique dolls for many years and it is a fabulous display piece in and of itself. The metal hardware around the edges is really fantastic- I have had many early trunks and I have never seen this rugged rounded ... morehardware on any of the others that I have had and it is incredible how well it has protected this beautiful early trunk. This incredible piece has marks, dings, rust, scratches, gouges, leather wear and leather splits, spots, etc. but that only adds to its character. I can't say enough about how well it has aged and I think it just keeps getting better and better. It is a fantastic collectible. I have more old doll trunks to list.

Circa 1800 Wide Pine Plank Blanket Chest. Missing glove box, but enhanced with a Butternut moulding trim on the lid and skirting. The old milk blue paint makes this a very attractive large dovetailed original chest. The hinges,although correct from that period, are not the original set. The measurements are 18" tall, 20" in width and 46" in length. We are in Central NY, so unless you are willing to pay for crating, the only way to get this chest will be a mutual meeting. We are willing to travel to Albany or Binghamton or Utica areas for pick-up/delivery. If you are planning a visit to the Central NY during the summer months, we would hold the chest until then.

Here is a fabulous 1800s"leather" Salesman sample(or doll) trunk in marvelous condition considering it is well over 100 years old. As the pictures show. It measures 18" wide X 11" tall X 11" deep and weighs 10 lbs. It is squeaky clean wood construction inside and out and has been cherished in our smokefree, petfree household for nearly 20 years. Look closely at the many pictures as they are more descriptive than words could tell. Note the manufacturer’s(Pettibone Mfg. Co- Cincinnati, Ohio) advertisement affixed inside. According to internet research the Pettibone Mfg. Very Nice Antique Half Trunk Handsome half trunk with rich colors and solid brass lock. This trunk has a"map" interior and comes with a tray. Very solid all around. All hardware is included, very nice#2 latches. Wood is in very nice condition, smooth to the touch, no major blemishes, and the handles have been replaced with new 3-ply leather for many more years of life. Edges are wrapped in the original leather although age and wear have deteriorated it somewhat. Nevertheless, still an outstanding trunk that will fit in more places than a similar full size model. Antique Trunk Hardware Lot of 79 Trunk/ Suitcase Latches.These latches measure roughly 1 1/2" high by 1 1/4" wide. The 32 latches on the bottom row have no spring. The 24 latches on the middle row have springs. The 23 pieces on the top row are the latch tops. I do not know if the tops fit the bottoms as these all came to me like this. I believe these are all steel. And many have some corrosion on them. This auction is what you see is what you get. Thank you.

Antique R.H. John Galvaston Trunk Factory Stagecoach travel trunk
This is an antique R.H.John Galveston Trunk Factory stagecoach trunk from between 1880's- to no later than 1910. I could not find anything like it for comparison to get a better date. The trunk is made of metal. Wood and canvas coverings both inside and out. It has a red wash on it, so it was done right and appears to be original. It looks really good, but does have some dents along the side/edge fixtures, a small dent in bottom metal base, some tearing of the inside canvas, mostly along sides, is missing an inside wooden brace that would have possibly held a top box, has some staining spots on inside lid, has an outside tear of the canvas along a side edge about 3-4 inches long(pictured) the outer leather straps are worn, but still strong enough to lift it, there is an inner strap that is broken and 2 long cracks of the inner wood bottom ... morethat does not show through to metal bottom. There are wood slats along the top, bottom, and sides. Please ask for more pictures if you need to see more. This is heavy for it's size-over 37 pounds. It is 41 1/2 inches long, 20 3/4 inches wide and 13 inches deep.

NEW MEANING TO BIG BOX! This is an antique genuine early 19th c grain painted pine Blanket Chest Box done in vivid flame dual central patterning on the front. Painted on the top and sides to match, with contrast trim and turned turnip leg foot in black for visual effect and balance. Please look at the pictures taken outside in natural sunlight at all angles. The paintwork is guaranteed original to the piece with no signs of touch up-an important part of valuation. A most attractive very old oak box with good naturally aged patina. Polishes up very nicely. 19th century or could even be 18th century. No worm or rot so all ready for the home. Brass carrying handles which are a close match so one must have been changed at sometime but they are period handles. Moulded skirting to all 4 sides, brass lock but now out of order. Pre Civil War Antique, All Leather Steamer Trunk. Rare Find!!
For sale is a very rare antique steamer trunk. The trunk is very large and completely covered in brown leather. The leather has some cracks but for 150 years old. The leather is considered in good shape. There are rolling wheels on the bottom and wood slats on the top. The top also had the words"warranted sole leather" imprinted in the leather. This trunk also has possible ties to historic NY(brooklyn) politician JB Wass, who was a consultant to president Ulysses S Grant. If you search the web you can find reports sanctioned by Grant where JB Wass made recommendations on locations of illegal liquor distilleries in Brooklyn) The side of the trunk has personalized label complete with name and address. The inside of the trunk had an incredibly rare drop down compartment with a green envelope type thing attached with gold trim decoration ... moreand logo. Again you will not find a trunk like this. With a history and such an ornate design anywhere. It could use a restoration or would be a great conversation starter as it it stands now. Antique Semi-Dome Top Trunk Simple semi-dome top trunk. Slight dome. But not as pronounced as some of the other high dome models. Copper buttons which are fairly rare are all intact and in good condition. Nice rich colors, new handles, simple flower pattern interior. With something this old you'll have to read the pictures to gather your own information. It's structurally sound inside and out. No rotting! The paper and artwork inside are still fully intact. It has a few dings here and there but would be an absolute simple restoration. All parts are original. There is a barely visible engraving on some of the latches that read" PAT. DEC.23.7" The leather handle strap on the left side is missing and the main latch is bent a little bit. But other than that its fully useable. Nice Refinished Civil War Trunk Antique Chest/ Working Lock & Key &Compartment
Beautiful Refinished Antique Flat Top Civil War Trunk with Working Lock. 2 Keys and a hidden compartment in the top of lid. My husband and I have refinished over 130 trunks. Each one is a treasure of its own. The history of each trunk dates back as early as the 1 800's. Each has its own unique story. While owning a trunk of your own. You can enhance the tradition and legacy with your own family. This is a very nice refinished Civil War trunk with a small amount of a dome in the top of lid. Imagine what this trunk has been through being used during the Civil War time in our history's past. The particular d imensions for this are 30" length. 17" width and 17" heig ht. This particular trunk would be a nice trunk for a college student. Or a wonderful place to store keepsakes. We refinished this particular trunk by taking ... moreoff the old canvas covering and all paper on the inside. Next we sanded the wood on the entire trunk. Inside and out. The inside of the trunk was built with the rough cut appeal so we sanded finely to leave the natural look. A fter t his. We applied Polyurethane as the finishing touch to give the trunk a nice shine. The trunk has some typical small stress marks and small stress cracks which are common in wood of this age. Next we painted all metal parts of the trunk with a black or gold leaf paint. We then attached 2 new Amish made black leather hand l es. We also put on a new lock with 2 working keys. Attached to the lid of this trunk we applied two new chain stays so it will remain opened when wanted. On the inside of th e lid you will find a secret compartment. It folds down so you can store small things in there. Working the way down to the b ottom of the trunk you will notice that it is in wonderful shape. With no holes or cracks in the wood. A rather stunning early 19th century table box in the fashionable chinoiserie style. The box is made of hardwood and comprises a detachable front panel which incorporates its original 19th century chinese brass lever lock. The panel is lacquered and gilt painted with figures in a garden setting interspersed with buildings. The detachable panel encloses an arrangement of seven drawers and an open recess. Each drawer with its own brass pendant handle in the chinese style and the bottom drawer with a secret escutcheon and lock. To the sides the box has a rich patina and two brass carry handles with handle rests beneath. The corners are bound with brass braces. Measures 50cm wide by 53 cm tall.
