Hinged to reveal a fitted dimension as shown above. We searched extensively on the internet to find information about this piece of history and all we could find is as explained below: Hirschfelder& Meaney was established in 1893. With offices and salesrooms at No. 22 Sutter Street. Its factory was located at Twentieth and Florida streets in San Francisco and covers an area of eleven thousand square feet. The San Francisco Call Newspaper of November 16th 1911 listed their address to be on 519 Market Street and another internet search revealed they moved to Battery Street around 1913. Hirschfelder& Meaney was also listed in the 1926 San Francisco chamber of commerce publication as a chest maker with address at 36 battery street San Francisco. Earlier edition of same publication published in 1910 listed same company’s address to be 519 Market Street There are documentations published between 1910 and 1926 that made reference to this company. I have not seen any reference to the company after 1926. This however does not mean one is not out there and for this reason we listed this chest as mid to early 1920. Please do your research to get more information about this vintage chest. We have supplied all the information we had as of the time of listing. This is the largest wooden chest I have ever come across. This monster is over 3 ft. wide and about 21ins. deep and over 2 ft. tall at its highest peak. This one has more fancy metal working than your run of the mill chest and is a beauty without having to refinish. I would rather have this item picked up at my house because of the size. Also had embossed tin, and still had the beautiful green enamel paint intact that the embossed tin was originally painted with! Also the trunk still has both handles intact. Neither look like they have been replaced, and it still has its original tray Even more exceptional. The trunk has a working LOCK& KEY: even the bottom of the trunk is in totally blean unrusted almost perfect condition. Even has a labeled where it was shipped at least one time from Danville KY in the 1920's I would estimate however that the age of the trunk is more around the late 1800's The trunk has been thoroughly cleaned& conserved. The wood has been cleaned, taken back to its original color, and finished, the metal was cleaned as ... morewell The inside of the trunk was stripped of all the old paper. This grouping is for 2 sets of different styled brass hardware which I believe is from old wooden iceboxes? One group consists of 4"shield" shaped hinges and two handles(missing catches) and next set consists of 4 ornate pierced hinges and two locking handles and latches. They all appear to have been originally nickel plated and the second set has remnants of white paint overlay. Some pieces show little of the nickel remaining. All have an aged and oxidized finish. First hinges measure approx. 4 in. long by approx. 2 1/8 in. wide while second ones are approx. 5 1/2 in. long by approx. 2 1/16 in. wide. Sells with no reserve.

50 Antique Cast Brass Trunk Tacks, Original 170 years old
The picture gives you an idea of what the tacks look like. You will receive 50 tacks plus a couple of extras. These are 170 year old tacks I removed from an original 1840's relic trunk that is unrestorable. These low-dome. Cast brass tacks are 3/8" diameter and have the typical square shank. Antique tacks are perfect for restoring an original trunk or adding that authentic touch to your Native American or Mountain Man recreations. They are untouched and some will have a little verdigris(green stuff) that will clean up with a toothbrush. I've added a couple of extras in case some break. I would suggest that you pre-drill your holes before mounting these little bits of history. Please ask questions as there are no refunds. 1870's Dome Top Trunk Size: 28" wide. 18" tall, 15" deep front to back. A beautiful wooden dome top or barrel top trunk. Probably from the 1870's. Great looking trunk with beautiful dark pine and hardwood slats. Original hardware, including cast iron latches, bottom wheels, and with heavy duty corner bands. Entirely original condition with no modern upgrades to preserve character. A great collector's and decorator's item and will certainly be a conversation piece. It's very strong and a great size for lots of storage space. With a deep interior. This trunk was made in the late 1880's as determined by the style. The lid has a nice high rounded shape that used to accommodate ladies' hats. The early lithograph of a lady in a period hat in the lid is original. Original leather handles missing(many that you see today are reproductions) Decorative latches work well; key not included with lock. Provenance: purchased from a Philadelphia area antiques shop in the 1960's. Sold as authentic Victorian piece from the late 1800's. Many pieces from this era are known under different names: Saratoga trunks(for the vacation trunks ladies brought to resort town Saratoga. NY) Barrel Top or Barrel Stave trunks(because of the ribs that mimic a barrel) or Dome Top, Camelback, or Humpback for the curved lid. The two closest examples I've found both sold for $795. Although they had been refinished. To preserve the original finish and details, and in case a collector would like to refinish it himself, I haven't had anything done to it.

T his lovely dome-top trunk measures 34" wide. 19.5" deep and 22" high. Its beauty is the embossed tin ivy pattern and the oak straps and trim. We have used it for 30 years as a central decorative piece with the added advantage of storage space. Old trunks fit into every decor. Small casters are built into the base for rolling. Glides were added prior to our ownership. Most probably to protect the casters. These can be easily removed if desired. The leather straps rotted out years ago, a common occurrence for old trunks. And some of the interior paper is ripped. Other than that, it is in very good condition considering its apparent age of over 100 years. There is no key for the lockset. Two additional latches are situated on each side of the lockset. All hinges, corners, nails and metal clamps for the oak slats are tight with ... moreno missing pieces. Please scan below description to read shipping costs/details ~ thanks Fabulous antique cabinet maker's tool chest measuring 27"wide x 16-1/4" x 14-1/4" high. Hard wood probably oak? You won't find any veneer here this beauty is solid wood. A quality made piece well constructed to serve the maker for many years with three brass hinges to hold the lid. This box has all the pluses, check out the stunning heavy brass trims that decorate every edge for strength and beauty. This chest is about as original as you will ever find complete with drawer, trays that lift out for your drill bits and other small hand tools and room for the hand saw inside the lid. The hefty solid brass handles are built into the chest to lay flush until you pull them out to lift the chest. Both locks are present we do not have any keys. A very solid ... morepiece ready to use or display in your room for extra storage. I am not an expert on items we sell just describing what I see when I look at the piece. Use this as a guideline and follow along with the photos I have taken several at different angles to give you a good look at what you are buying. Condition: Some minor dings in the wood from years of use but NOT abuse. These marks are customary with use over 100 years +. The hinges are firmly in place and hold the lid nicely, the drawer has brass pulls and works as it should opening and closing nicely. The inside may need to be wiped down and cleaned a little we are selling it directly from the workshop! All the brass is solid brass and well attached with NO missing pieces. Lid closes great, inner trays move forward and back to select your tools, they are removable. Some tiny dots of paint are present on the drawer and on the lid but a fine piece of steel wool and wax would probably remove these nicely. Antique refinished trunk one of a kind high end Victorian chest circa 1895
For your consideration is an antique refinished Victorian trunk with fancy hardware and double locks. A feature not often seen. This was definitely a high end trunk in its time, one that would have turned heads at the train station. All the extra hardware, the double locks and the fact it has three protective slat boards on all sides makes this trunk truly unique. A three stave(slat boards) trunk is one that is quite rare. It's only the second one that I've come across to refinish. This trunk measures 34" long by 21" wide by 24" high and has both of its original trays. The trays original cardboard bottoms have been replaced with wood bottoms and finished to match the interior of the trunk. The interior of the trunk has been cleaned down to bare wood, sanded, stained and sealed. Three coats of a water based sealer was ... moreused on the interior and trays to keep any odor to a minimum. The outside of the trunk was professionally refinished with a furniture grade finish. All the metal on this trunk was hand burnished with enough of the patina left to provide a natural antique character to the piece. This is an antique so there will be cracks dents and dings but these just add character. This particular trunk only has one stress crack which is quite unusual(it can be seen in the pic of the top) New high grade leather handles were installed to provide many years of safe lifting. This is a'true' flattop trunk, that is there is no slight built in arch to the top which makes it an ideal candidate to be used as a coffee table or end table or other decorative use. Try as I might I have been unable to find keys for the two locks but I have the ebay'key' guy hot on the trail and hopefully we'll come up with a key before the listing ends. I do each of my trunks to the best of my ability which means I don't rush the work because I want each one just right. I don't paint the hardware and don't repaper the interior. Vintage steamer trunk Splendid looking chest. It has a lovely old shine and full of old character. The two brass middle locks and clasps which are nice and shiney. No key long gone. The locks are not the standard type which is a nice touch. It does have is original thick stiched leather handles. Wooden banding As with old chests. Up for Auction is an ANTIQUE Vintage Steamer Black Metal Lined Wood TRUNK. It has Nice Metal corners and has a thin lining of metal over wood. Inside it is lined also. There is an insert that has makes a shelf. The bottom of the insert has detatched from the sides. See pictures. The wood is lined with blue and white paper. It has a lock by the Eagle Lock Company which was in business in the late 1800's and early 1900's. There is no key and the middle of the handle is missing. The trunk has the intials PTM on it. The metal is scatched. Warped and dinged from use and it is very old. The lining inside also has marks and is tearing from age. It also has rivots on the sides. Here is some history related to the Eagle Lock Company that provided the locks for many steamer trunks. primitive box handmade metal hinges dovetail construction 22 by 4 by 5 inches
measurements on this small box/chest are approximately 22 1/2 inches long by 4 1/2 inches high by 5 1/2 inches wide. Because this is handmade it runs a little more or less than measurements listed. I'm not sure of the age but estimate the late 1800's to early 1900's. This has original hardware and shows that it has been used a lot. The third picture shows the indentation from the hinge where it has been opened repeatedly. This is original condition and has not been cleaned up or"improved" in any way. Have questions-just ask.

Early 1870s Saratoga Trunk Antique Trunk
This trunk is an early 1870s Barrel Stave. Saratoga trunk. Originally embossed leather covered, but sadly it was beyond saving. The up-side is that the wood underneath is absolutely fantastic. Unlike most other trunks for sale, this one has a complete original interior. Lets start with the outside, 34" long, 21" wide, and 29" high. The iron bound corners, and 3 iron bands all have a not often found scalloped edging with 3 rows of nails. Total nails on this trunk are over 1,400, and all have been polished, masked, and painted around. Cast iron guide dowels are held on with copper rivets. A unique solid brass working lock with key. The leather straps, lid lifter, and handles have all been faithfully reproduced. The custom made(by me) handles are the largest I have seen at 10" long, 1 1/2 wide, and almost a 1/2 thick. The ... morebeautiful grooved oak slats are held on with tinned nails, and all have steel slat end protectors. The inside is no less amazing. Full bottom tray with covered set up tray. Parasol tray, and removable hat box. The removable hat box has 3 compartments with the front one having a fold down top. The lid has a fall in tray with securable top, and 2 drawers hidden behind a latching panel. Below the tray is a skirt tray. This was intended for ladies skirts, and having a cloth/paper bottom on the tray allowed the owner to pin her skirts down to keep them flat during travel. All of the interior was originally a stripped fabric. The inside top, and skirt tray, have been replaced by a paper reproduction I made from the original cloth. During the 1850's& 1860's Wells Fargo operated their Stagecoach business and the Pony Express. With the advent of Transcontinental Railroad in 1869 they signed a contract to carry their express business by rail. Opening a new era of expansion and growth for the company. The express company would continue until 1918, when under a Presidential order, in an effort to help end World War I, the four major express companies across the US were merged into one company known as the American Railway Express Co. This company would continue under that name until 1929 when it became the Railway Express Agency. This is a Railway Express Kit Box. An antique miniature chest with wonderful dovetail joints. Footed. It sits on 4 legs. 19 th Century. There is paint on the bottom. Original paint. Lovely warm patina. There are hints of green paint on the outside. This is a beautiful primitive. I measure just over 17 ¼ inches tall by about 26 ¾ inches wide by just under 14 inches deep. A hard to find size. Weighs about 24 pounds. It looks like both hinges have been moved a time or two. There is an inlay patch on the lid near the keyhole. The key hole is quite worn. I’m not sure of the type of wood. The lock is off. There is part of the lock loose on the inside. The box inside may be called a keeper or keepsake or candle box. LARGE MID-19th CENTURY SCOTTISH MAHOGANY CHEST OF DRAWERS WITH SPIRAL COLUMNS This beautiful mahogany chest is from Scotland and dates to the mid-19th century. The chest has a stepped back rectangular top which sits above a large beaded frieze panel. Flanked on each side by a smaller beaded panel. Beneath is a single deep drawer flanked on the left by two short drawers and on the right by a single deep drawer with a faux two drawer front. This row of drawers is above three graduated long drawers. Each of the chest’s drawers has turned knobs, brass escutcheons and their original locks. Although we do not have a key for the chest, the buyer can easily have a locksmith make a new key. The entire bank of drawers is flanked by elegant spiral reeded pilasters. The entire piece stands on a platform base and is raised by partially concealed casters. ... moreThe chest measures 49-1/2"w x 23-1/2"d x 45-1/2"h. The grain of the mahogany is very beautiful and has a attractive warm patina. Condition: The piece is extremely sturdy. It has minor wear. Rubbing, dings and scratches commensurate with its age. Both side edges on the top have had chips to the veneer along most of each edge, which have been repaired. These have been highlighted for you in the photographs. Antique Leather Luggage Trunk Suitcase Seat Brass Tacks Monogram 1850 Stagecoach
Here is a real antique. Stagecoach, train luggage trunk. It is leather over wood and it's embellished with brass tacks and a monogram. Has the bottom part of the original lock. Has both handles. The inside is covered with blue and white striped ticking or cloth. That's in very good shape. It has a drop open door in the lid that was used to put either dirty clothes or unmentionables(as they called underwear in those days) Then the top was padded and you could sit on the trunk as a seat as you were waiting for the train or stagecoach. Antique Doll Trunk and China Shoulder Head & Body
This auction is for 3 neat items- an ancient antique doll trunk- an antique china shoulder head marked Germany 2 G- and a nice old antique cloth doll body from Germany. This nice old doll trunk measures 6" x 9 3/4" and it is 4" tall and it shows lots of wear- it has paper loss. Scratches, paper wear, peeling, gouges, cracks, wood chips, etc. but it is one of those antiques that looks better and better as it ages. It has a lovely oval picture of a very pretty lady inside and it has an ancient tray inside as well. It is older than the hills. Next is a lovely antique china shoulder head and she is 2 3/4" tall x almost 2 1/4" wide and she is beautiful. She has pretty painted on features- lovely light blue eyes- nice rosie cheeks- gorgeous black hair with a center part- sweet little pursed lips- and she is in very nice ... morecondition. She is a real beauty. And last but not least is a wonderful antique cloth body from Germany and it measures almost 9" long x 3 1/4" wide and it has soil spots on both sides and it has some small tears on the front but overall it is pretty amazing for its age and it is just the perfect size for display. CLASSIC GENUINE ANTIQUE C1870 ~ 1897 ALLIBHOY VALLIJEE& SONS OF MOOLTAN INDIA TIN DISPATCH BOX MADE IN INDIA FOR CIVIL SERVANTS& MILITARY OFFICERS BASED IN INDIA(Indian deed box) THIS IS DEFINITELY AN ANTIQUE AND MAY BE OF INTEREST TO A MUSEUM OR AVID COLLECTOR OF BOXES. MILITARY ACCESSORIES OR VICTORIAN INDIAN MEMORABILIA. THIS WOULD ALSO MAKE A GREAT TOOLBOX FOR A VINTAGE CAR This box must have seen some travel in it’s life! Description: Constructed of tin with brass fitments. Lid retaining slides in brass and brass lifting carrying handles to the outside with brass wire handles to the inner tray etc. It has pipe ribbed strengthening bars to the lid and base opening rims. A lock is fitted to the lid. The shape of the box is similar to a chest, on opening the lid you find a sealed hinged compartment which is held in place by a slide ... morebolt, this compartment is within the lid and has tray sections for documents, correspondence, deeds, patents and official papers. This also drops down and forms a writing flap. In the main body is a partitioned tray with brass wire lifting handles. The tray has a lockable box safe section and various dividing tray sections. The tray lifts out to reveal a further storage section underneath. The interior is painted blue and originally the outside would have been black and gilt japanned but rust and time has taken it’s toll, none survives apart from a ghost pattern to the top. Attached to the front of the box is an oval label which says:~ ALLIBHOY VALLIJEE& SONS, MOOLTAN, TIN DISPATCH BOX MANUFACTURERS. SIZE: 15.3/4” 40cm) long x 11.1/4” 29cm) wide x 6.1/2” 16.5cm) high. The box was used for the regular flow of information and small effects by sea between India& Britain in the later 1800’s. Many British Civil Servants and Officers worked in the Sub-continent administering the affairs of the empire and they would have used this for either official or personal correspondence.
