This is an antique steamer trunk we refinished. There's a missing latch plate. No key, missing straps, one end is missing hardware for the strap, no inserts, missing one wheel, buckle in one top slat, some splits in wood, substitute cable to hold open and it doesn't close perfectly. Antique Small Child's/Doll Embossed Wooden Metal Overlaid Steamer Trunk
Up for bid is an antique child's/doll wooden steamer trunk. The trunk is overlaid in embossed painted metal. The interior is covered in paper. The trunk measures 14" x 8 1/2" x 9" high. The handles are intact. Some of the nails are slightly loose especially the ones in the hinges. The locking mechanism is no longer functioning. I am not an expert but this came from a friend's mother's estate and they had quite a few trunks that had been handed down. It is a beautiful piece and because of it's small size would fit in almost any room. Please email me with any questions. Fragments of which still remain. ... moreIf you restore this trunk, then I hope you get a leather worker to make new straps(which would look great) This trunk has Wooden(oak) Slats. Which now have a rich patina from years of use. I polished the exterior of the trunk and the slats look even better in my opinion. The lock is open and appears to be functional. But we don't have the key. This trunk includes the Till. It is covered in paper which is chipping and peeling. I would remove it if you restore the trunk. The edges of the trunk are leather. The exterior surface of the trunk is fabric over wooden construction. The fabric is well worn and frayed. With bits missing, especially along the edges. If you restore the trunk, one direction you can take would be to strip the exterior(and interior) of the covering and simply finish the wood underneath. The corners and some of the edges are metal bound. The metal has a nice dark patina. The leather handles on the ends are now gone. New leather is needed there. Inside. The fabric covering is badly stained and either should be removed and the wood underneath finished, or replaced. The interior smells musty and old, but not mildewed in my opinion. An old original fab steamer chest with lots of metal banding and end cap brackets. It is a original steamer chest from circa 1900's and would have been used on the ships of old Metal handles at each side. Front locks and clasps there is no longer any key for the middle lock long gone. Four hardwood slats on top with one at the front and back also. It is approx. half the height of the standard ones. So would be great for any room in the house to make a great look and not take up to much space. The chest has a nice shiny bri wax finish. It has been around for a hundred years and will come with wear and tear as you would expect which all adds character to these items, But is still a strong fab little chest. Which makes it particularly good for use as a coffee table. This is an older restoration and all the original hardware and materials are still there. The refinish is not perfect and still maintains much of the same appearance it did as when Henry Likly first delivered the trunk. It has been in a home that used it everyday and never left in storage not being used. This trunk originally came with Leather Straps. Fragments of which still remain. This trunk has Wooden(oak) Slats. Refinished and stained. The ... morelock is open and appears to be functional. But we don't have the key. The exterior surface of the trunk is fabric over wooden construction. The fabric is intact with a few rips or scuffs. The fabric has been sealed to stay bonded to the wood. The corners and some of the edges are metal bound. The metal has been recoated and looks great with the pings and dings from being around a 100 plus years. The leather handles on the ends are now gone. New leather is needed there. Inside. The fabric covering is intact and in decent condition. The interior has zero smell and not mildewed. I can either leave it like this or give it a coat of fine wax- whatever the buyer prefers. The wooden interior has been left natural with no stain or wax. Antique late 1800's Excelsior steamer trunk. It is in as found condition from an attic in New Bedford. MA. The trunk is a solid piece made up with slats of wood. The top has a slight dome to it. The top section of the lock is missing but there is no damage to the area, it looks as though someone carefully removed it. There is a missing wheel and some loss to the metal strapping. Please view all photos, as they are showing any losses that I have mentioned. It needs some fixing but the overall condition is quite nice for its age. Leather handles on sides are torn off and need replacements. Has metal corners, brackets, hinges, lock. Lock is an'Eagle Lock' with no key included, and unure if it will work. Has some kind of hard leather or hide like material around edges. Has an identification sticker on top which cant be fully read, but is shown in photos. Can only make out location, Newark NJ, and above that the last 3 letters of name'ard' Paper lining on inside in poor shape and metal bracket on inside, that holds top lid from swinging to far back, is broken and needs replacement. It is wallpapered on the inside with a drawer and upper compartment along with a clothes hanging bar and 2 hangers. It has 4 vintage travel stickers inside on the drawers. The wood is in good condition and all of the hinges and clasps are still firm and in working order. A couple brads are missing as I have shown in pictures. It comes with a key but the lock needs some professional adjusting and does not work as is. There is some staining behind the bottom drawer of possible wood finishing, the wallpaper otherwise is in excellent condition. It is in overall very good condition as you can see in pictures. Nice selection of old wooden wardrobe hangers for a steamer or wardrobe trunk. You get what you see. 4 straight pants hangers and 5 coat hangers. These are very old. They have some dust. I just wiped them down with dry cloth so that I wouldn't possibly damage then with water. One coat hanger is missing the tip of the curled edge. So photo. It still sits fine on the wardrobe track I took out out of. Great addition to any old wardrobe or steamer trunk.

Measuring approx. 32-1/4" wide x 18-3/4" x 20-3/4" tall. The lid is supported by a metal corner bracket that keeps the lid up nicely when the trunk is open. The wooden tray has the original metal finger lifts on each side so you can easily lift the tray out of the trunk. The inside floor of the trunk is wood but underneath the trunk is metal with the original metal rollers that act as little feet and move the trunk along easily. This is probably one of the largest steamer trunks I have seen and there likely are several reasons for that. They take up a lot of room and they are big enough to be cumbersome when handling; big enough that it was impossible to get better pictures. Listing this as local pickup only because the value is perhaps higher here than elsewhere with shipping added. Many of us here are great grandchildren of immigrants who homesteaded here in the 1800s and brought much of their belongs over in trunks just such as this one except this one is a bit larger than most that have survived. Hi. Thanks for visiting. I'm selling my antique steamer trunk because of the fact that we're downsizing our living situation. Otherwise, I would certainly hang on to it- it is really a nice piece. I acquired this at a local antique store about ten years ago and have kept it on display ever since. It is made mostly of wood. With some metal rivets and leather straps. I'm not sure when it was constructed, but it is definitely of significant age. It measures approximately 34" long by 21" wide by 24" tall. The trunk is obviously old. So it isn't in perfect condition. One of the metal buckles has come loose from one of the leather straps, for instance. Notes/Observations: See Photos. Grand old trunk. From the research I have done and the travel labels that are on the trunk. I would say this is c1920s and saw a lot of action on American railways. This is a Flat Top trunk. Which makes it particularly good for use as a coffee table. This trunk has Wooden(oak) Slats. Which now have a rich patina from years of use. The lock is open and appears to be functional. But we don't have the key. The edges of the trunk are leather tacked into the wood. There is one area where the leather has split. Some additional tacks will handle this. The exterior surface of the trunk is fabric over wooden construction. The fabric is holding up very well. No fraying or missing pieces, The corners and some of the edges are metal bound. The metal has a nice dark patina. The leather handles on the ends are split. ... moreNew leather is needed there. If you restore this trunk. Then I hope you get a leather worker to make new straps(which would look great) Bottom of the trunk has wood slats over metal sheets. Inside. The fabric covering is in bad shape. The interior does not smell musty, Nice trunk. And a good item to start with if you are looking for a restoration project. Also good and usable the way it is if you like an unrestored look. Overall size: 32 3/4" wide x 20" deep x 12-3/4" high One of the wood slats is in need of repair. We bought this chest at an estate sale. From the estate of Stanford Jolley. Stanford was a Hollywood set director, as well as designer for parts of Disneyland in the 1950's. We were told the chest belonged to Stanford's dad, Stan Jolley, who was a character actor in something like 500 movies in the 20's and 30's. and appeared in Disney productions. We bought it only because it was such an unusual, beautiful, piece of art. But, it doesn't really fit our house, and I'd like to see it go to a good home. It measures 40" by 20" deep, by 21" and was made by the George Zee Company, of Hong Kong, and has a serial number of 69-109932. We do not have a key for it. Antique Small Slat Top Wooden Steamer Trunk Child Doll Sample 9x10x15
This small size steamer trunk measures 14 1/2" wide by 10 1/4" high x 9 1/2" deep. It is constructed of wood slats with leather edges and brass corner accents. One piece of wood on the bottom appears to have been replaced. Some of the leather is very worn and cracked with some losses. The interior is stained and there is no tray. The lock is functional though the key we will send along is probably not original and requires some jiggling to get it to work. 1800's Antique Domed Hump Back Steamer Trunk Treasure Chest w/ Wooden Tray This is a beautiful Humpback trunk and is of a smaller size than the majority I see listed. The overall dimensions of this truck are: 26" wide(handle to handle) 14" deep(front to back) 17" tall(at it's tallest point) Here are some additional details on it: The center latch is offset of center and looks to use a skeleton type key(keyhole in center) to unlock. I do not have the key for this trunk The latches to either side have a patent date on them of July 9 72(1872) which is awesome to have a date of any kind on a piece like this. Leather handles on each end have long since fallen apart but replacement handles are readily available. Tin and Copper covered with wood trim and accent. Wooden insert tray. Inside of trunk and the tray appear to have ... moresome type of covering on them and the covering coming off and is dirty. I am leaving them as I received it because I know some people want the trunk in original condition and"cleaning it up" can make it less desirable. All the metal accent pieces are present and look to be in good condition when you consider the age of this trunk. All four wheel are present on the bottom. Aside from that let the pictures tell the rest of this story. Being smaller than the full size trunks would make this a great addition to someones home and/or collection. It is a great piece and would be a fantastic decoration piece for a home or business. Although shipping this will be pricey I will ship this via Federal Express to the continental 48 states for FREE. Item 20022.1 is a very nice vintage wooden flattop steamer trunk. It measures 32" length x 19" width x 22.5" height. It has a couple of cracks on the top that do not take away from the character of this trunk. And it is still very sturdy. It has the new leather handles. It has all the original hardware that still works. This trunk does have a two compartment tray. Item 14-20345-5448 is a very nice vintage wooden flattop steamer trunk. It measures 36" length x 20.5" width x 22" height. It has a couple of cracks on the top(picture 3) that do not take away from the character of this trunk. And it is still very sturdy. It has the new leather handles. This trunk does not have a key or a tray. It has been lined inside with quilt batting a sage green and white floral pattern material.
