The metal banding was used to strengthen them and for decorative design. All the hardware appears to be original. I have not tried to clean it, because some people prefer the original patina. Antique Steamer Trunk With Eagle Lock Canvas and Wood Nice Condition
I am selling a really nice antique steamer trunk. This piece is in really nice condition. The interior panels are all solid, no rotting. The hinges are tight, when you close the lid it matches up perfectly at the latches and lock. The original handles were missing so I attached handles on it to make it easy to move but they are not in the original posistion as shown in pics. Some of the corner metal pieces are dented, other ones are perfect. The lock is an Eagle Lock brand lock, I dont know if it locks because I dont have the key so I wont completely close the lock. The trunk is 35 inches long, 21 inches deep and 13 inches tall. If you have any questions please ask and I'll be glad to help.

Let me begin by saying I do not know a lot about this trunk and I am no expert. I cannot find another one exactly like it online. From information I have gathered I believe it is a camel back trunk from the 1870s or 1880s. Several pieces of the hardware on the trunk have"Patent mar 16" on them. Dimensions: Length 32" 18" wide, 21" tall, 14" deep The trunk is made of metal and wood. The leather handle/strap on the left side of the trunk has been broken off and is MIA. The latch on the front is intact. But it won't latch and the key is also MIA, presumably with the leather handle. Maybe they are lying on a beach somewhere together. Antique trunk with ornate design, wood & metal, p/u only near B'ham, WA
This is a beautiful trunk that is 38" wide. A depth of 21" and a height at the peak of 26" The metalwork is quite beautiful contrasted with the wood. Inside is a tray that lifts out or tips up. The inside is quite simple. Wonderful storage piece. The handles on the sides are missing, as is the claps in the front. The hinges for the lid are in very good working condition which means this is a very functional storage unit. I am not at all sure what the age is. I bought it as part of an entire household. The most recent owner did not smoke. And I know he owned it about the past 3-4 years, having purchased it locally. Local pick up only. I live in Nooksack. Painted navy blue on the outside. It features wrap around decorative brass hardware on the top and bottom edges of the trunk itself and on the four corners of the top, please refer to photos for detail. There are two wide decorative brass bands running up the front of the trunk and the lid, across the top of the lid, and down the back of the trunk, all held in place with tiny brass nails. The lid is hinged in the back, all hardware is brass. The front lid features two brass tabs which fold down onto the locking pins. Going through the locking ... morepins are a pair of Japanese locks, very rare nowadays, but popular on storage trunks in the 1920's and 30's. The locks themselves are solid brass, a collector's item in themselves- we have chosen to offer them with the trunk, as they came to us at auction with the trunk. The key is included, will be in a separate envelope on the outside of the trunk. There are two side handles mounted on brass circles, please see photo. The inside is roomy, unpainted wood, no tray, in very good shape. This would make a wonderful storage chest for quilts and blankets, kept at the foot of a bed. Obviously handmade- looks to me old wood dark stained shellac finish- looks like small version of an old cedar chest. Nice grain patterns! Top Inside has an inside piece that fits nicely pretty snuggly below top edge to provide a better seal when closed. Edges are simply finished rounded. Triangular cut pieces stack with metal stud make up dimensional feet design. Well-made and sturdy. As common with an older handmade piece. Does rock slightly when placed on flat counter, so not completely level, but hardly noticeable. Older hardware darkened with age. Looks like brass hinges with screws. We don't know if this piece was restored at some point, but everything does look like ... moreit originally belonged with this piece. We are not sure of the origin of this piece. It is not marked and appears to be uniquely handmade. It came from the estate of an old doll collector who used it for her doll displays and storage. We were told this was probably made at least c. 1940's/50's. But since there are no markings, we can't be sure of precise age. It comes as pictured as we found it. OLD MILITARY TRUNK FOOTLOCKER METAL AND WOOD
For auction is an old military style foot locker. It is wood and has a metal covering. It is approximately 30.5" wide. 17" deep, and 14.5" tall. There is an old crest painted onto the top, but I don't recognize it as any modern unit insignia. It may be related to an old military academy or camp. This footlocker probably dates to between the World Wars(1920-1940) Judging by the inside, it is closer to the older part of that date range. The remnants of an old trunk sticker reference the Civilian Military Training Camps program(CMTC) which only existed between those years. The tree trunk is surrounding by some leaves. Tree fern and rocks. The piece has one or two leaves damage and some old worm bites, overall it is in excellent condition for age. No signature and the exact age unknown, probably 1900's or so. The trunk is hollow on top, it size about 2-1/2"in depth. x 2-3/4"in diameter. The inside has the original 4 metal hangers. Two of the card board pieces are loose in the trunk and will need to be re-attached. This trunk is unique is that it has all it's original stamped tin and it also has 4 metal roller wheels on the bottom. The trunk obviously has some issues- there is rust present and some of the wood has come loose. The trunk is missing both of it's side handles and it does not latch properly as well. We believe the insert in the top is probably not original- if it is. It has been modified with the addition of adhesive paper. There is also a moldy smell inside the trunk. Estate Find ~ Partially Restored DOWN TO WOOD Corset Trunk, Named/Lawrence Mass

Nice corset shaped/bread shaped sides. Fancy brass lock& plate, metal straping and the original owners name and town stamped on the bottom as Eliza Hall, Lawrence Mass. Measuring approx. 30" wide x 17" x 15-1/2" tall. Someone started to restore this beauty. The old canvas covering has been removed to expose the nicely tone pine wood. This wood is over 100 years old so it will not require stain to color it if you like a warm country pine color. Just a couple coats of stain poly or clear shellac will bring out the beautiful tone. I am not an expert on items we sell but I will describe what I see when I look at the piece and you can follow along with the photos. You will note that most of the defects I have listed are small but I wanted to point them out. Good looking mid size trunk ready for your special touches! Condition: Pretty good considering its age. There is NO rot or soft spots. There are tiny surface dings, a stress crack in the wood at the bottom edge where the side meets the bottom but this does cause any problems with structure or stability. You would expect these tiny flaws from a trunk that is over 100 years old and has traveled the country. THIS TRUNK IS SOUND, The handles are original but have lost their brown colored tops so they appear white, these handles are well attached. The hinges are well attached and the lid opens and closes nicely. One of the little leather straps in the front has broken off but is inside the trunk for you to reattach(an inch shorter than the other) I see one piece of metal missing on the 1st photo left corner bottom, this could easily be replaced with a piece of iron L bracket found

Large Wood and Embossed Tin Hump-Back Dome Trunk
Up for auction is a beautiful vintage trunk whose main flaws appear to have originated from a missing key. The hinges seem to have been pr i ed off. Leaving all of the hi n ge present but no longer attaching the lid to the bottom. The center lock and the latches on the front are all locked. The center one is in a flexed position and isn't moveable. I didn't want to push too much so as to damage it further. There is a little surface damage to the tin from what I assume was the prying open. Particularly aroun d the right latch. T he leather of both handles is missing as is the in terior tray. Otherwise. It appears to be in beautiful vintage cond i tion. The embossed tin is in a floral pattern. The wood is in good shape. There is a small crack in the one wood strip. But it seems to be from a vintage repair and I onl y found it after ... moreseeing the nail tip sticking in to the inside. The paper inside is in good shape for it's age and there is no odor inside. The trunk is very sturdy. The bottom is in beautiful condition with all 4 wheels intact and moveable. The overall dimensions are: 31" wide. 18" deep, and 21" tall. Small Vintage Faux Wood Trunk Tin So charming vintage tin in the shape of a little faux wood trunk. The floral motifs around the base delight. And details are embossed. Once contained confections from Murray Allen and the tin was made in West Germany. It looks to date to the 1960s. The tin has some vintage wear and patina. There are some small areas of wear. Some scratches, handling marks, light soiling, some small dents/dings, etc. Some noticeable denting on lid and it dips at the center on one side. Some wear around bottom rim and the feet.
