It is in fair condition, with good bones, but the outer covering is stained, and torn in several ... moreplaces. The metal corners and the seams are all intact. The leather handles on each end are also intact, however, they are brittle and cracking. The latches work, but the center locking mechanism is missing. There is a small break in the wood of the trunk in this area, where the bottom portion of the locking latch would have been located. There is a piece of the left latch that is also missing. The inside lining of the trunk is intact, but it is quite dirty, and there are large stains on it as well. The original label is still present on the inside of the lid but is very faded. The trunk is 9.5” deep, 13.5” tall, 30.5” long, and 22.5” wide.

It is complete with the tray and the top has a compartment with a hinged door. The inside and the tray have been lined with wallpaper- beautifully done. To the best of my knowledge. All of the leather is original. It has the original Brass Lock with a star pattern. The key is included and the trunk does lock. The trunk automically locks when you close the lid. If the key is not present. The key must be in the lock and turned to the unlocked position to open the trunk. Measures approximately 30" Wide(without the side straps) by 17" Deep by 15" High. Stained a Medium Brown- Base is made from Pine with Oak Slats. It does have a crack on the top. But to me, this just adds to its appeal. Other than a few very minor scratches. Traveling was long, hard, and exhausting. People would literally live out of these trunks as they traveled for weeks and sometimes months on end. Thus. They were built with quality and built to last, which is why they have stood the test of time! The craftsmanship that went into the construction and design of theses ole’ trunks are truly nothing short of spectacular. I recently discovered this wardrobe trunk buried in the rafters in the attic of a local farm house estate in a in nearby town. It stopped me dead in tracks and I had to literally pick my jaw up off the floor! There was no way I was leaving without this trunk. And lucky for me I had hubby to carry it out of the attic and down 3 flits of stairs! And now for the decription… This is a nice authentic period Wardrobe steamer trunk. It is signed on the exterior by the maker Oshkosh Trunk Company. I am unsure of the exact age. But it was clearly left where I had found it for a very very long time. If I had to guestimate I would say it is likely from the early 20 th century. It measures 40 x 22 x 20 inches and weighs 75 pounds respectfully. The exterior is covered with what appears to be a volcanized material with dozens of original brass. Nails, knobs Hinges, Lock and hardware. The lock comes with key and functions as designed. Look- it's tasting the animal hair with its forked tongue! The lower part has what looks(to me) like waves and the tide. So the story might be: The lizard was washed off its homeland and rode the tide across the great water. When it washed onto a new land it climbed the first tree to see where it was. But stopped when it heard a mysterious drumming sound. The lizard, unfamiliar with its new surroundings, kept going around and around the tree, trying to find safety in its new home. My research says this might be from the Philippine Islands. Where I found similar carvings/designs. Who ever made it. They did a wonderful job. The carving is really ... moredeep in the hollowed out tree trunk. The animal skin head is nailed on(see inside) With another strip of skin covering the nail heads on the outside. Looks like they cut the strip too short and added a different color, or is it supposed to be that way. The strap is also a 35" piece of twisted hide. Attached at top and bottom. Antique. Steamer Trunk. We found it in the work shop at an estate sale. It was being used for storage of old boy scout memorabilia and old kitchen curtains. There are several pieces of stickers on the trunk and one from the Black Ball Freight Service with the phone number"BREMERTON 300" dates the sticker to the days before we dialed phone numbers directly. I would guess the trunk dates to around the turn of the century. It's made out of wood with metal brackets and rivets. Black laminate on the outside. Blue and white paper covering the inside. Measures 30 1/2" long by 18 wide by 19 1/4" tall on the outside. Inside dimensions are 29 1/2" long by 16 1/2" wide by 14 1/2" tall. The lid is 3 3/4" tall on the inside. It weighs 26 pounds. Condition: We don't have the key to lock it up. Inside is one. ... moreBig open space(no shelf) Normal, general signs of age and use. Rust on the fittings. Cracks in the laminate covering. Small Antique Dome Hunchback Wood Trunk Doll Child's 18 x 12 x 10.5 Inches VTG
This trunk is probably 100 years old. It looks a little redder in the photos than it really is. It still has a lot of the the original tin hardware and paper lining inside. It looks like there once was a tray that fit into the top. But it is missing. Also, the handles on each side are missing. In addition. There is a strip of wood trim on the front right that is missing(see 8 th photo) The trunk holds together nicely. The 7th photo shows where the boards do not completely meet on the bottom. This trunk could be beautifully restore(or used as is) It is a nice tabletop size that can work in many places. Unlike the large trunks. I'm happy to take more photos.

Antique India Folk Art Wood Hope Chest / Marriage Box Trunk Hand Painted
Hi. For sale an antique wood/ chest(circa 1800s/ early 1900) marriage box. I am not positive of the boxes origin but I believe this is Folk Art. There are hand painted tulips on the edges and hand painted white flowers used in early American art. The measurements are 17 inches wide or long. 9 1/2 inches in height, and 7 1/2 inches deep. The chest/ Box weighs 11 pounds. It does have wear which is to be expected for it's age. The paint on the flowers have faded in some places, there are a few cracks on the wood, one is on the bottom(does not go all the way through, and one is on the inside of the lid. Wood shrinks with age and cracks are normal. There are a few places where wood has chipped off(one on the foot) the lock is missing and there is a heavy patina especially the places that would get the most use(by the handles. The front side ... morehas a darker patina(see 2nd picture) than the back side, it was probably sitting up against a wall and was covered on the top. The feet did have felt pads at one time. The rivets(or nails) are old type nails. It is made very well, it is very heavy and sturdy and it closes fine. This is a beautiful Antique Officers Campaign Trunk Chest. Also described as a Barracks Trunk, these were used to transport officers belongings and personal items. This particular trunk has the officers name inscribed. D. Cutler. It's comes with original key. The original transportation label Inspected are still present. It traveled from Glasgow to Us 1886. Can't quite make out date on label. The finish is original check the detail of the grain or finish, dovetail. Amazing to have found such a great piece of history. We are pleased to offer this very unusual. Old Chinese(late 19th century to early 20th century) hand carved, MASSIVE lidded box or storage/rice bin or chest. This two piece, painted and lacquered box is carved and formed into a beautiful elephant. The elephant has a large trunk with nice details to the face, mouth and ears and eyes. The elephant is cut in half length wise. The top lifts off to reveal a box or storage bin. The bin is finished in an old lacquer. The elephant is colorful. He is painted a golden tan with hints of red and brown underneath. The ears and tongue are red. The inside storage compartments are black lacquer as is the underneath. There are two large nostril holes that once housed ivory tusks which are no longer present. This box is quite unique and most of it was carved from a large, single piece of wood. There are no ... moresegmented or jointed pieces except for the curvature of the trunk and the ears. It is quite an extraordinary and beautiful piece! It is in very good condition with some surface wood splits. The paint has several areas of chipping/peeling which add to the character of the box. It is truly exceptional. Nice decorative trunk. It is made of wood and has an overlay of copper or tin woven with thin wood. It also has floral hammered copper/tin trim around the top. It has a hinged lid and metal latch. It measures 12 3/8" tall. 16" across the front, and 9 3/4" front to back. The chest is a little dusty and on one side there is one spot where the tin is split(see close up photo) and another spot where the tin is bent. This beautiful medium sized Dome Top antique trunk. Is in Good condition, with only minor flaws. It measures 18"H x 26 1/2" L x 14" W. The exterior is stunning. Covered beautifully in a black colored tin. With oak slats, accented with black tin hardware, and a nice brass design, that is very desirable amongst collectors. Both side leather straps are in original condition. All of the hardware is original and no longer fasten. There is no key. The inside is beautiful original wood. With steel nail heads showing(see photo) The tray is in nice condition although the lids need to be reattached. See pictures. There are rollers under this beauty, that work well, and look great. Found this unusual. Beautiful and untouched Leather, Iron and Wooden Victorian Era Dome Style Steamer Trunk at a local sale. A huge trunk measuring 36" wide. 30" tall and 23" deep. Decorated with hand applied tacked leather all around, ornate iron and wood, this trunk was made for folks who traveled far and for many weeks or months at a time. A TRIPLE LOCK system is evident on the front, designed to keep their worldly possessions safe. On each side of the trunk there are remnants of labels that provide a visual history of the famous places that this trunk traveled to. There is a label for a hotel in Paris. A label for a baggage cabin on a Cunard Line steam ship, and most interesting.a label for the St. James Hotel in Jacksonville Florida. The hotel was a popular destination for the wealthy in the 1870's and 1880's and ... moreburned in the Great Fire of 1901.never to be rebuilt. The interior of the trunk is in nice untouched shape for it's age. Inside the lid is a drop down drawer with its original leather and tin clasp for holding it in position. When opened. The inner drawer folds out. Clean and undamaged. The original fabric tray in the lower part of the trunk is there.the wooden frame of the tray is in very good condition, the fabric that acts as the bottom of the tray needs repair. Antique American Leather over Wood Society Trunk - Pristine Condition
Offered- An outstanding Leather over Wood Society Trunk. This trunk is in absolute pristine condition. The trunk measures 18 inches across- 10 inches wide- and stands 11 1/2 inches tall. Trunks of this nature were widely used during the Victorian era- to hold Society Hats and other paraphernalia associated with that particular Society. This trunk is marked: photo#4) F. Leslie Shepard Fond Dulac(Cross/Crown) 5 Fond Dulac. Wis. I believe that the Cross/Crown symbolizes the Knights of Columbus Society- but I am not 100% positive. The interior of the trunk is Cedar Wood in perfect condition. There is a form to hold the Society Hat- and a drop-down inner lid to hold other accessories. There is a label on the inner lid that reads: The M. C. Lilly Company Manufacturers of Military and Society Goods Columbus. Ohio There is also a silver colored plaque ... moreover the lock with the above manufacture noted. The leather on this trunk is a beautiful Amber/Medium Brown color- with a darker brown outline. The stitching is perfect and all of the rivets are 100% intact. There is very minor- as the photos reflect- scuffing and/or scraping- commensurate with age. The silver colored lock is fully intact however I do not have the key. The lock is marked: Pat. April 1877(Over 2 Stars) The leather handle is perfect. As is the case with trunks of this nature- the straps that connect to the buckles on the front are used and very fragile. They are intact but do have breaks. I have taped the backs for stability. This is a very nice item- I have a couple of these trunks in my personal collection and they are great for storage- perfect for fragile Christmas Decoration. This auction is for a neat western old west wood trunk Wells Fargo& Co strong box. The strong box has"Wells Fargo& Co" painted on the front. There are iron handles on the sides and iron hinges in back as well as an iron hinge front. The box comes with the little"Yuma Territorial Prison Arizona" lock or padlock with the key pictured. The lock does work great and will keep your valubles safe from bandits. The box measures 12 inches wide across the top. Is 8 1/4 inches tall and is 9 inches deep front to back. The lock measures 1 1/2 inches wide and 2 1/2 inches tall. It is a well made sturdy box that is a really neat item for a western collector. The box does have some wear and use as shown in my pictures but no damage other than paint and box wear and some surface rust. Seller added the following information: I had a question about the top.The top edge of the top of the dome does stick out a little bit past the sides of the trunk.It is what I would call a flat dome.

Natural Wicker& Wood Storage Trunk/ Hope Chest with Brass Hardware Vintage 1970s. This vintage. Circa 1970s, natural colored wicker trunk/chest measures: 32" wide X 17" high with lid closed x 16" deep. It is well made, well woven and sturdy, about 25 pounds) in a hand woven wicker material over a wooden trunk. The lid has 2 wicker supports across the top and the 2 hinges on each side work well. There are 2 arched carrying handles on each side to help carry, move it& set it in place. The front has a brass hinged clasp that fits over 2 protruding cylinders to keep the lid in place. An Asian motif is etched into the clasp. The chest stands on 4 wooden, 1/2" tall legs which help keep the chest elevated off the ground. Makes a good hope chest, a linen or clothing storage locker, a footlocker, a memento keeper or an ... moreattic keepsake storage chest, etc. Overall good vintage condition, top shows some wear but can easily be fixed by a wicker or cane furniture repair specialist.
