More manageable size than some of the very large ones I've seen. As you can see from the pictures the tin has developed a beautiful greenish patina. All natural and from what I can tell untouched as far as being refinished. It takes a long time to get that type of patina in the metalwork. It looks really awesome. Antique Vintage Wood Doll Handkerchief Glove Box Trunk Latch & Bentwood Handles
Fresh from an upstate New York estate! This offering is for a primitive light wooden box or doll trunk measuring 12" wide. 6 1/4" deep and 5 1/2" high. I believe it to be a handmade doll trunk as I found a primitive"Mammy" rag doll and an old celluloid doll inside(sold separately) but it could have also been used as a glove or handkerchief box. The trunk consists of wood panels nailed together with three narrow slats attached on top and one on the front. The wood finish is richly aged but there are stains near the old nail heads- which only gives it more character. To each end there is a bentwood handle. These look like they were an afterthought to the original construction. The front has an old aged tin lever latch. When the lever is vertical the box is latched shut. When flipped to the left, the box latch is open. ... moreInside the cover is attached a paper picture of a Victorian dressed woman. The bottom of the trunk is papered but the paper is stained and torn. A strap of burlap to the left side is no longer attached to it's nail to hold the cover from flopping back. The only splits in the wood slats are two short edge splits on the bottom. Each is aprox. 2" long and does not affect the structural integrity of the box. This trunk has been part of my family since I can remember. I believe that my father had it in the early 1930's but can't verify that. It could be older or newer. It measures 23" high. 19"wide and 34" long. The trunk is made of some type of metal with wooden stays. It has decorative tin type on the top and front. The lock has no key. It reads- Yale& Towne Mfg. Co/ shamrock around the keyhole with Y& T/ Stanford Conn. U.S.A. AB The round top has 5 wooden stays. 4 on the front and back and 3 on the bottom. The rollers are in working condition. The inside has no tray or decorations. As you can see. The inside of the top has some crayon marks(probably from my sister! a small crack by the hinge, and two strips of duct tape on the bottom that can easily be removed. Small Vintage Black Leather and Wood Trunk. I believe it is real leather/cow hide. It has a tag in almost immaculate condition on the inside of the lid that says Warren Leather Goods Co. Worcester Mass. The outside is black. The leather is not tight to the wood and slightly wavy in some spots. There is some blotchiness, evidence of stickers and wear to the finish. There is a"T" inside of a diamond painted on in red on both sides of the trunk. It has only a few wear holes on the edges that are 1" in diameter where the leather is doubled and a few spots along the corners on the inside where it is bare. There is evidence of a strap that went across the top that is now missing. The carrying strap is missing an end and the stitching has come a loose on its edges. There are metal bars on the top four corners, two flat hinges and ... morewhat looks like a pin hinge in the center of the two hinges along the back side. There are two latches on either side and a key latch in the middle on the front, which I do not have the key for, so I did not test it. The hinges, latches, strap holders and rivets are metal and show wear, rust and have normal discoloration from iage. On the inside there is a cloth lining that shows wear, some staining/yellowing with age and is coming loose in a couple of spots. An amazing vintage piece ideal for storage and display. Very unusual domed Trunk Treasure Chest that sits on its own metal stand that has paw feet The trunk can remove from stand as shown and be used separately The basic chest is constructed of wood that has been painted however the front and top are encased in sheets of embossed metal. Pictures of angels in a garden setting on each side of the top bands of studded strapping decorate the top of the piece. Antique. Steamer Trunk. We found it in the work shop at an estate sale. It was being used for storage of old boy scout memorabilia and old kitchen curtains. There are several pieces of stickers on the trunk and one from the Black Ball Freight Service with the phone number"BREMERTON 300" dates the sticker to the days before we dialed phone numbers directly. I would guess the trunk dates to around the turn of the century. It's made out of wood with metal brackets and rivets. Black laminate on the outside. Blue and white paper covering the inside. Measures 30 1/2" long by 18 wide by 19 1/4" tall on the outside. Inside dimensions are 29 1/2" long by 16 1/2" wide by 14 1/2" tall. The lid is 3 3/4" tall on the inside. It weighs 26 pounds. Condition: We don't have the key to lock it up. Inside is one. ... moreBig open space(no shelf) Normal, general signs of age and use. Rust on the fittings. Cracks in the laminate covering.
